The playacar palace was exalent, had a great time. The hotel and staff was very hospitable made you feel like there family. Made a point to get to know you. Domingo our breakfast waiter was excellent he brought out son Mickey Mouse pancakes. Perla our pool waitress was outstanding she was so sweet made us feel like her family member. Ruth in the spa gave a wonderful massage and Maria was an outstanding nail tech. Can't leave out Mia, Xiamara and Brenda doing the kids club and entertainment, they did a wonderful job, shows were great. Overall had a terrific time would definitely go back!!!!!
My family and I stayed for a weekend and the service was beyond this world. The staff is extremely friendly and felt completely safe. Food was delicious. The spa was very relaxing and my manicure and pedicure with Nidia was top notch. Highly recommend.

We just came back from a wonderful week at the Playacar Palace. Because we usually like to explore the area (and what it has to offer in terms of food, etc.), we had some trepidations about booking an all-inclusive vacation. Nevertheless, Playacar Palace exceeded all of our expectations. The variety and quality of food and its presentation was such that we did not have any desire to venture outside the resort, at least not for food. Pool area grill has a built-in oven and offers a variety of delicious freshly baked pizza (along with many other options). The resort is located right on the beach, which is unfortunately currently not swimmable due to the seaweed problem. That was the only disappointing thing about the resort. Most of the rooms have wonderful views of the ocean and include in-room whirlpool tubs. Rooms are attended to multiple times a day and in-room fridge restocked regularly. Resort also has a great spa and amazing services there. I had a 90 minutes starter (massage & facials) – it was great! But what really sets this place apart is the quality of service and the attentiveness of the staff to all of your needs. When lounging by the beach or at the pool, you are regularly asked if you need anything: drink, towels, etc. They are really trying to anticipate your every desire to the point of moving beach umbrellas around so you can stay in the shade. This was the case in every restaurant and Café del Mar buffet, pool area grill and at all bars: coffee (which is by the way is excellent there), holder for your bag or purse, anything to make you welcomed and comfortable. Every request was met with the uniform reply - “my pleasure”. Everyone at the resort was friendly, personable and made us feel at home right from the moment we arrived. Special thank you to hostesses Lina, waiter Luis and managers Olivia and Paola at the Café Del Mar and Momo restaurant, housekeeper Angelica, security guard Ernesto and massage therapist Virginia. We look forward to come back.
I have to say when you book an all inclusive holiday one of the things you can never be sure about is the quality of the food and drinks on offer. Having taken six such holidays in the last 8 years I am pleased to be able to say that the food on offer here is by some way the best and most consistent we have ever experienced. What is on offer is very good quality and well presented and most importantly very enjoyable. The drinks on offer are international brands rather than local. Saving the best until last, the service was absolutely excellent from start to finish, it would be wrong to single anyone out, sorry Egder and the lovely lady who cooks the eggs for breakfast. Our friends who stayed with us at the hotel went on to the Le Blanc hotel in Cancun, third comment was although that hotel is more opulent ( and 30% more money) the service was not as good as the Playacar Palace. Only disappointment was some seaweed on the beach which each morning they were collecting but don’t be put off unless you want to spend lot’s of time swimming in the sea.
Second trip to Mexico staying at Palace Resorts. This year we stayed at Playacar Palace and had a vacation of a lifetime. Went off Resort and shopped at Fifth Avenue, ate at Senior Frog's which was a total blast. Fifth Avenue felt very safe although vendors do try to get your attention to shop at their stores. After this being our second stay, we decided to buy into the membership program. Palace Resorts have everything we could want as a family. We plan on coming back, so we thought why not spend the money to become members. You don't have to, but some do. At any rate, that is how highly we would recommend the Palace resorts. For us, the best!
Playacar Palace May 2019 We love the Playacar Palace and have visited there 6 times to date. We last went before the renovations. I will start there. The pool has been completely renovated, the new tiles are gorgeous. The spa is heated and the steps into the pool are very convenient. The spa absolutely needs a handrail. They put up porticoes along the walk out suites facing the beach, with nice patio furniture. The rest of the hotel appeared to have very little done to it. The room we stayed in was on the fifth floor and it was renovated with a new floor, doors, trim etc. The bed was great (a pillow top king) and the chairs were comfortable. I include a picture of the new floor in the bedroom. As far as the rest of the hotel, it continues to see constant painting and upkeep. Let’s face it this is an old building and will always require ongoing maintenance. The seaweed was piled up along the beach and during the 8 days we were there, the water was sometimes clear, sometimes streaked with seaweed. We also learned that once spring break is over, the staff takes the down time opportunity to take their own vacations. It did impinge on minor things like no painting and wine class and no Karaoke! We also missed the afternoon tea in the Zen garden as they were painting in that area. All in all, we have to thank our hostess Mimi Cairns (Moon Girl) for doing all the leg work of setting up the vacation. The shows were great I think they have upgraded the talent overall. Michael Jackson show in the lobby bar was great, up close and personal as Michael pulled people from the audience to dance with him. They used the Zen garden for an amazing acrobatic show, that was seen for the first time at any palace. The five-story open garden area was a neat setting. It was a shame that notice for this was last minute and only 30 people saw it. We happened on it because we were only a few rooms from the location. If you want more resort details, there are lots of sources and I and my wife have written extensive trip reports on Playacar in the past. I include pictures of the facility, I used a neat lens on my Iphone to capture panoramic views. Most important to this place is the people. From start to finish they are the ones responsible for whether the trip is a success or not. Many thanks to the top-notch people as follows: Our Concierge Paola, she did a great job of booking and reservations and dealing with my wife Star making last minute time changes. Eder our pool concierge was always there to make certain the sun stayed out of my eyes and our water was cold and at the ready. Fania in entertainment kept us in the loop all day long and even took my float and blew it up on the first day. She is super and helpful and fun to be around; she also makes a great emcee. Cain was the artist for the art and wine activity, which didn’t happen due to vacations, he did run a small painting class which we attended, he made us look like masters, helping with our little magnet projects. He also filled in around the pool and at the night shows. Sorry Victor, you are a great Hibachi chef but Mario is just a little bit better, I’m sure you both will be upping your game now to fight for that first place spot. Thanks to Maysol the best hostess ever and to the wait staff in MOMO. Bocelli's features the ever-present Rafael and Pedro as the best of the best waiters. We also liked the up-close magician, he stopped by our table and his slight of hand was well practiced. I actually saw his slight of hand for the briefest of seconds as he passed a card from one hand to the other, but some things he did were simply magic. Our favorite time is always breakfast and Israel took care of us on the first day and Porfiro the rest of the week. Leticia makes the best omelet ever. We also have to give a shout out to Donocio who mans the outside dining area, where we spent several of our lunch times. We have a special shout out to one particular waitress. Perla is usually out at the pool on the beach side. We were sitting on the hotel side all week as the steps were convenient and everything was a lot closer, I have back problems and am going for surgery shortly, this location was just more convenient and less taxing for my limited ability to walk this trip. Perla was however; working the night shift in the Luna lounge (not my favorite spot BTW). We stopped in there once and had a drink, but Perla was on dinner break. Later during the acrobat show, she was working that and stopped to see if we needed anything all the way up on the fifth floor. Our last day the concierge had set us up at the same location and it was just too much to make the move to the other side, we had also made friends that we wanted to spend our last day with, so we missed any further time with the best waitress at the hotel, Perla. We do appreciate Silvia who worked our side most of the week, she along with Eder kept us more than happy. We only got a few drinks at the pool bar itself and none in the lobby bar, so we don’t have anything to add there. We enjoy sitting in the lobby bar with the gentle breeze blowing through the windows. We didn’t go to town at all as my walking was very limited. We did try out the Lanho dinner. It took a long time and was OK, food was good, and the liquor flowed. We have heard things about this dinner that were very different from our experience, but overall, I have to rate this one as B. One thing is the location of this ‘restaurant’. Go out the lobby and walk across the parking lot, continue down the side of the building. There is a glass door and a couple of windows, all blacked out. The area looks like it is under construction. Take the chance and pull on the door and you are inside a long narrow room like a train car. Total occupancy is around 14 people, I think. The tables are bolted to the floor between large pillars. For bigger people you must sit at an angle, or half out in the aisle as you bump up against the pillars. Palace really needs to provide some signage if they are going to continue using this location.
We just came back from long weekend vacation with our adult children, and grandchild. Our family was extremely happy with the Palace hotel in Playa Del Carmen. Service and food were excellent! Cain, the activities director was so much fun and was great at remembering names and getting people involved with games and activities. The staff at all the restaurants and at the pool were amazing. Everyone was so attentive and was always inquiring about any food allergies. The staff was extremely accommodating to my daughter's peanut allergy, lactose and gluten allergies. The selection of food was great. They had many healthy food options available. Shout out to all the staff, and servers in all the restaurants, Israel, the girl at the omelette station, the hibachi chef, and all the servers and busboy/girls. On our last day the staff all surprised my daughter with a birthday cake and all came over to sing to her. They were all so much fun! They all were friendly and so so helpful. The staff at check-in and the bell boys Manuel, Leonardo and security Salma and Yenni were all great too. The rooms are very spacious and very clean. The cleaning people were also very good. We always came back to very clean room. The spa is top-notch and we all had excellent services (although spa is pricey) Overall we had a wonderful experience and would totally recommend and will return in the future.

Top notch service in a beautiful location. We can’t possibly love this resort anymore. It is absolutely beautiful, the spa & their services are outstanding, food is delicious, entertainment is spectacular and drinks are the bomb. But really what makes this one of the best Palace Resorts is the service and the people that work there. The Chef’s dinner is a must do. Food was fabulous and the dessert to die for. Thank you Chef Jair for a great experience. Also recommend the Hibachi Grill & the sushi. Italian has a great new menu. Make sure to try the pumpkin soup. So many great staff there to mention. Starting off with the pool area, there was Silvia, Benito, Gaby, Perla, Juan, & Josephina. They are some of the many waiters/bartenders that took care of us poolside and are so hard working. Our drinks were never empty lol. Can’t brag about them enough. Edgar, our faithful waiter at the breakfast buffet, remembered my favorite drink in the mornings (cappuccino & Baileys) and gave us outstanding service. And Leticia (Chef) was so sweet & made the best omelets at the buffet. Olivia & Paola (restaurant mgrs.) were just incredible. We mentioned that one of our favorite desserts was tempura ice cream that MoMo had on their menu. It was apparently no longer on the menu but your sweet & thoughtful managers arranged for some to be brought to us. Cain, pool entertainment, is a definite asset to Palace. He had a great pool painting class (so great I did it 2x), he took care of getting air in my float, was fun to hang out with but to top it off, he arranged for the entertainment, The Tenors (who are so so talented) sing our wedding song to us the night before our anniversary. I’ll never forget this kind gesture, it brought tears to both of our eyes. Fania, entertainment & concierge in training, is another one of your great employees. We enjoyed spending time with her. And we cannot forget your hard working and extremely thoughtful Diamond Concierges, Paola & Tania. They work so well together & when Paola was off, Tania took care of us. Paola arranged for our room to be decorated for our Anniversary (so very special to us) and a fantastic Diamond dinner, along with several activities/spa services. We cannot thank her enough for the time she spent arranging everything for us. And the popsicles by the pool. Eder, the pool concierge, was so attentive. He always made sure our chairs were saved in the area we wanted (we kept changing it), and we had dry towels, along with always asking what he can do for us. Tania did an outstanding job also, switching some arrangements around for us and then arranging an offsite trip to Xcaret & even arranged box lunches to be brought to us. Our Diamond dinner was delicious and our waiters, Margaro & Pastor, did a great job. The lobby bartenders I have to mention also (Felipe & Joeil). We enjoyed their drink creations on several occasions. Our last night there we ate at Bocelli and Oscar was another great waiter at this restaurant. We did a day trip to Cozumel Palace and want to thank them for a great day and again, outstanding service. Jose Luis, Diamond Concierge, arranged for us to be taken care of (he was off that day) by the pool concierge, Gustavo. He made sure that we had our favorite chairs saved, checked on us numerous times and arranged for a complimentary room. We were waited on by Isabel at the pool who was awesome, along with Roger (one of our all time favorite waiters) at the pool. Enrique gave us excellent service at Momo as well as Juan, Mexican Restaurant Mgr. He personally served us handmade flour tortillas from the Mexican restaurant. Joel & Serena are also some of our favorite people there who greeted us with hugs and smiles. We stayed there a little over a year ago and it was so great seeing them. Unfortunately, I’m sure I missed a few of your staff that made our trip so memorable. So memorable that me and my daughter, who is 11, cried on our departure.
