We got there about 8.30pm check in was quick and easy why the rules are not the same for debit cards and credit cards I will never no don’t I think that I ever will has this didn’t happened when we stayed in Peterborough Marriott room was clean evening meal was okay wine a little over priced I got to say service charge should be a option not a must when your eating in the restaurant breakfast was again ok think we will stick with the hotel Marriott at Peterborough. As it used to say in my school reports could do better in some areas
We stayed here for four nights as part of a luxury coach tour. The location is on an industrial estate, far from any shops, bars or restaurants. This meant we were stuck in the hotel each evening with no entertainment whatsoever. The room was very basic, even the tea and coffee making facilities were basic with only two sachets of instant coffee, two t-bags and one packet of biscuits between two! There was no fridge but an ice machine was on one of the other floors. The bathroom was large if dated but the towels were soft and fluffy. There is a nice spa and gym, however no robes and slippers to use. I even asked at reception but was told that none were available. We decided not to bother. Food for both breakfast and dinner was distinctly average. The buffet breakfast was not kept hot enough, although there was a good choice. Dinner consisted of three choices of starters, mains and desserts. Some evenings I struggled to find something I actually liked. Overall I found it difficult to recognise this as a four-star hotel. I have stayed in many three-star establishments with better facilities. Maybe the experience would be different for non-coach trip guests?
We stayed at the Marriott in September as we had stayed here before, however this experience was not as pleasant. The restaurant menu has changed, and not for the better. Service was slow, and the burger I ordered was dry and bland. Breakfast is good. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, however, the mattresses do need updating. This hotel is in a good location, and I would consider staying there again as it offers excellent accessibility to the surrounding areas. However, I would chose to eat out next time.
What a lovely hotel. Lovely rooms, a nice big tv, a lovely spa and really lovely staff. The bathroom is nice and big with a big bath tub. I have been unwell today whilst staying here and the staff were so understanding and nice towards me.
Had a wonderful time. Very comfortable beds. Great room. Quiet. Gorgeous breakfast with so much choice. Nice to be able to swim and use leisure facilities too. Lovely staff - friendly & attentive. Will be back in the Spring!
Have stayed at this hotel several times, lovely hotel with good facilities, the food is a bit pricey but to be expected, several times I have visited they have run out of Stella behind the bar. So need to sort there orders out to prevent running out, the staff are great and can't do enough for you.
On arrival the girl on the reception was lovely and efficient letting us know that we could get food til 11pm from the bar but hot food stopped at 10:30pm, being 10pm and having travelled for 10+ hours we promptly dropped our things off in the room and headed to the bar for 10:10pm. The barman was incredibly rude, giving us the wrong drinks, asking if we could order food he looked at his watch clearly unimpressed with our late arrival and mumbled "yeah" when asked if we could have a menu he pointed at it across the other end of the bar, when asking which type of bread we would like he stood at the till with his back to us and once again mumbled if we would like white or brown bread, he shoved the card reader into my hand with no please or thank you, his attitude was beyond shocking, I have never ever received such horrible service from a completely ignorant member of staff anywhere in my entire life. After paying £24 for two grilled cheese sandwiches and the wrong drinks we returned to our room to discover what I can only hope was rust stains and not blood or any other bodily fluid on the bedding on one of the beds and holes in the bedding on the other. The first night we were there the corridors had an "portaloo" smell which was unpleasant to say the least. By this point we were totally at a loss at how a supposed four star hotel had failed so horrifically within an hour of us arriving. If you are considering a trip to the area I strongly recommend another hotel, as the Marriott were emailed on the same day with my complaint and almost a week later I am yet to hear from the hotel management with an explanation or an apology for the appalling service and disgusting bedding - they clearly don't care. There are cheaper better quality hotels nearby such as Holiday Inn (just across the road) Premier Inn etc where I have never had an issue with service, price or room cleanliness/facilities, infact I have had nothing but fantastic service and rooms from them - don't waste your money on the Marriott especially their Huntington premises.
Marriott need to sort out the management of this hotel. 1 arrived just before 7pm no one on reception after a couple of minutes someone appeared from a backoffice 2 despite the bill being prepaid demanded a £50 deposit 3 phone in room did not connect to reception so had to go down to reception to deal with a housekeeping issue 4 Dinner was one of the worst meals i have ever experienced 5 The starter of chorizo risotto consisted of two large deep fried balls of unidentifiable stodge with a couple of tiny pieces of chorizo 6 The main course of a lamb burger was a large ball of brown "concrete" dough that was so hard it almost bent the knife and fork breaking into it. However, when i did the lump pf lamb was grey, hard and grossly overcooked. 7 the waitress taking the orders had not been trained to identify who had ordered which dish and thus on the arrival of each starter and main had to hold it up and ask who ordered mushrooms, duck , chicken etc 8 The bathroom basin had brown stains 9 the toilet had black stains 10 One of the towels was torn 11 no towelling robes - surely standard for a 4 star hotel 12 no extractor fan in the bathroom so it became very steamy 13 no shaving /make-up mirror 14 bedroom chairs were badly worn 15 bath drained very slowly probably indicating that the drains needed cleaning 16 7am no one on reception again 17 when I did check out the man offered no greeting or comment and just grunted 18 Breakfast was ok This is not the quality you would expect from a 4 star hotel indeed you would be disappointed if it were a 2 star hotel
Stayed one night end route to an event. The restaurant menu is very limited and the quality is not great. Prices are high for what is, essentially, bar food. Returning to our room after dinner we noticed noise coming from the ceiling (room was on the top floor) which would definitely have prevented us sleeping. We asked for a member of staff to investigate but were ignored until we asked again 40 minutes later. Staff member said nothing could be done about the noise but we were offered another room (the last available, we were told, although this was untrue) so had to pack and move rooms The next morning we tried the leisure centre - only to find that the pool was being used for babies' and children's swimming lessons for most of the day. Apart from the noise levels and lack of space in.the pool, non-swimming parents filled up the pool area. We had arranged and paid for a late checkout but despite this were disturbed by staff who claimed they were not aware of this Breakfast was fine and were given a small discount for the inconvenience of changing rooms but we will not return
Our third visit and I doubt we will return for some time. The quality of service and the little things you may expect from a FOUR star hotel were seriously lacking. I have a feather allergy so requested synthetic bedding, which was present in the room. The pillows were like lumps of concrete resulting in very little sleep that night. The following morning we asked for replacements which we got - these pillows were only a slight improvement. In the room was a Perspex holder with an advert inviting us to “purchase a film” . After a lovely day at the races we thought that a film would be a good way to relax and end the evening. After several failed attempts to find the movie button on the (oversized) TV I admitted defeat and called reception for help. The phone rang for over a minute with no answer, we hung up and tried again, eventually a man answered and after explaining our predicament we were told that “they don’t do that anymore but you can connect your phone and stream through that if you’ve got films on your phone” Okay so we hung up and tried. Forty minutes later and having only been able to connect sound but no picture we gave up and headed to reception. A different person then informed us “Oh no, the TV will only connect with android - not Apple!!” In the bar we relayed our dismay to the bar/restaurant manager who listened intently and was very sympathetic, to the point of giving us a complimentary meal which was a genuine surprise and gratefully received. We noticed a few other things that have changed for the worse. No teaspoons in the room, just wooden sticks and a very pitiful tea tray to boot. The icing on the cake had to be at nine o’clock in the morning housekeeping knocked on the door to clean the room. Surely as it was a Sunday morning and check out isn’t until 12pm knocking so early should not be allowed!?!! We weren’t the only people to complain, I heard two couples in the restaurant discussing how disappointed they were and a couple at checkout in front of us also made a complaint of dissatisfaction. That said, the staff in the bar and restaurant were friendly, efficient and capable - possibly the only saving grace this weekend.
