Grand Hôtel du Luxembourg4.0 out of 5.0

The Grand Hotel du Luxembourg was fine for a brief one-night stay - we did not arrive until evening and left by 8:30 the next morning. The room was decently appointed, with a nice in-room coffee/tea and water set-up. It seemed clean, but when I stepped on something in the middle of the night - some plastic piece off of something - it did make me wonder if it had been vacuumed, as I think that would have sucked this up. We were both dead tired and slept well, but both of us thought the bed might have us aching by morning. It did not. I read some reviews of poor service at the front desk, but the two people we dealt with could not have been nicer. Because we were on a tight schedule the next morning, we went ahead and paid the 15 euros each for the breakfast, and while it was nicely laid out (and the warm croissants were definitely delicious), it did not seem to have a lot that really appealed to us - but that's just a personal preference. It was well located in the lovely town of Bayeux, with many restaurant choices within walking distance (mostly Americans talking around us at the outdoor cafe, which was a little disappointing, but I guess we were deep in June of 44 invasion country.) There was quite a lot of loud and fast traffic in the narrow street outside our bedroom window, but once we fell fast asleep it never disturbed us. The pool was attractive and was enjoyed by several different groups. We booked our room with Booking.com which was a bit less expensive than the hotel's online rates.
The room was comfortable and clean and the Staff were very pleasant and welcoming. The Restaurant and food was above average. There was off-street parking available and a small plunge pool where you could relax. Great location for the Beaches.
After travelling in the countrysite it is always good to find a good bed and breakfast. Hotel has also his own restaurant, swimming pool and private parking. It is located in the center of Bayeux and everything is to be visited by walking or talk the touristic train and leave car on private parking. Will use this hotel again whenever in the region.
Taking all into account this is a very good place to stay at Bayeux. I did not have any meal there (it is surrounded by all kinds of "brasseries" and restaurants) but I can talk about the rooms (clean and comfortable) and the facilities (a very good private parking area). Staff is efficient (could be a bit more friendly) and helpful. Bayeux is, by far, the best location to stay in order to visit the D-day beaches so, with this in mind, for this price, you can't get much more than this.
Booked this hotel last minute on our tour of D-Day beaches. Great location, comfortable rooms and nice staff. It is not luxurious but perfectly adequate for a couple of days. you can walk everywhere and there are plenty of good restaurants in the vicinity. Easy parking too.
Just ok. The main drawback was that there was no air conditioning and heavy duvets on the beds--with only a bottom sheet, so sleeping was hot even though there was a breeze. Had to shut the curtains because of the outside lights, so that prevented air flow. The room/bathroom should be updated. It was a great location in Bayeux. We could walk to restaurants, shops, the Tapestry & the cathedral. The breakfast is good.
Bed very comfy, buffet breakfast excellent, very central location but still quiet at night. The hotel has a small pool and Jacuzzi. The restaurant is good we ate there one night but felt the choice was limited and fairly heavy, although the quality and value of the food was excellent. Satellite TV had some English programmes. Having secure on site parking is a real bonus - cost 9 Euro per day but I feel worth it. It was exceptionally hot when we were there temperatures to 30C so we missed not having AC but it was a heat wave unusual for this area.
We stayed for one night in transit between Dieppe and Brittany. A bit more character than some of the other hotels in town and a very nice room. Breakfast was a good continental buffet. We ate in town, as the Medieval Bayeux festival was on, rather than trying the restaurant although the menu looked reasonable. The hotel next door (which shares the parking) belongs to the same company and is somewhat cheaper. The parking was limited and an extra €9 per night and you need to check in first to get access to the key fob for the gates. However, there is larger commercial parking area just down the Rue Genas Duhomme.
Stayed one night. Everything was perfect, Very comfy bed. Late check no problem. Secure parking. Very helpful staff. In all a very clean and comfy hotel. In excellent location 2 min walk to centre of town.Would stay again.
My husband and I stayed here for one night, as we were taking a tour of the D-Day sites the next day and the meetup location for our tour was Bayeux. This hotel was an excellent choice! It was steps from our meetup location as well as the main parts of Bayeux. The staff was very friendly upon check-in. Our room was clean, and larger than Parisian hotels. Incidentally, we were very charmed by Bayeux. It's a beautiful, peaceful town. If we return to France, we'd love to spend more time in this area!
