This hotel is close to family while I stay in Calgary. This is the only reason I choose to stay here. We did find the breakfast quite good for a free hotel offering. They have improved it over the years and the staff working it are incredibly friendly and efficient. However they do not have enough people working it or the kitchen isn’t big enough to keep up with demand because they had trouble keeping food replenished.
Not impressed that when we arrived very late the first night the toilet was broken and we were told the maintenance person would be bumpy in the morning to look at it! I had to ask twice and insist on being given another room that night! There were 3 of us and staying in a room with a broken toilet just was not going to cut it!
Then the next night someone pulled the fire alarm and at 11:00 pm we were out standing in the snow with no direction from staff - in fact no staff was anywhere in sight! They never did appear. We were never offered any offering of compensation, explanation or even an apology until I mentioned when we checked out. The front staff seemed to know nothing of the incident when they calmly asked, “And how was your stay?”
This hotel has never received any improvements or upgrades that we could see since we’ve been staying here over 10 years.
