Il Palazzo Boutique Apartment Hotel

After my experience with another motel in Coolangatta I was nervous about what to expect, however I have to say that the Il Palazzo was better than I expected. After calling ahead to make sure my booking was set and found the receptionist there to be very obliging and helpful. Even though my arrival time was earlier than check in, they told me to come by anyway and if a room was ready I could check in early. As it happened the room wasnt quite ready but Caroline who was on the day I arrived was very friendly and we chatted long enough for me to be able to go up get settled and have a shower before going out to see my friends. Despite being next to a major construction site, this Hotel was in a great location, walking distance to everything. I had a room on the 3rd floor with a view of the city and the hills behind Cairns. The room was very comfortable and had everything you would need in a self contained unit. It had a Living room/ kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom with bath, shower and toilet, washing machine dryer, and hair dryer. The rooms are serviced daily or less if you don't need it. Very spacious and comfy and thank god for the air-conditioning. Would be ok for small family or 2 pairs of adults. (fold out bed in living room). The Cairns night market is right next door and there are plenty of people about until 10pm so you can safely go visit or find dinner at any one of the many restaurants. Its not far to go to the centre of town and less than 900mtrs from the Esplanade and the Pier. I had a rental car I picked up from the airport and it took less than 10 mins to get to the hotel from the airport. There is off street parking available. The building is disability friendly. If you are leaving early however, remember to take care of your bill the night before. I would definitely stay here again next visit.

We were at Il palazzo for our honeymoon and we couldn’t have picked a better place. While we are used to more modern hotels, il palazzo had more of a rustic feel. It was right next to the night market and the esplanade. The staff went out of their way to be nice. We had some issue with the neighbor’s music being too loud at night and they solved it immediately. Thank you for your hospitality.

Il Palazzo was clean and well appointed. It was all I needed for one night stay. Would have been fine for longer too. Location was great, next to the night markets, a block from the esplanade, grocery shop, chemist etc only a block away and lots of restaurants right nearby. Staff friendly.

These apartments are comfortable and conveniently close to the Esplanade for eating and a short walk to the shopping mall and next door to the night markets. We got a deal through Agoda for $138 a night. We called direct and were first told $175 and then we were offered $140 but the special was the obvious choice. Always worth calling direct first. It really is home away from home and if I’d had time I would have jumped in the pool which looked inviting. We also had a sea view from our balcony. Nothing to pick on here.

Excellently situated, one block from the Esplanade. Wonderful location for runners/walkers as the Esplanade promenade is a 3 mile path along the sea with excellent running and bike paths. Also a seaside enclosed swimming area and a variety of playgrounds and activity centres for adults and children. Cannot beat the price, period, full stop. Donovan, Kay, Frances and Caroline are not only helpful and efficient, but thoroughly pleasant people who know everything there is to know about Cairns and are ready/eager to help befuddled visitors . Full complimentary internet service in room, and free washer and dryer in the room, which was very convenient. A number of great pubs and restaurants in the immediate area, as well as the Orchid Mall and Cairns Centre Mall which includes a cinema. Very pedestrian-friendly area of downtown Cairns. I was here for six days wading through applications and red tape for a visa to Papua New Guinea, and the only good thing about the wait is that I was able to spend it at Il Palazzo. When assessing the location, value, services and people this place is simply non-pareil. Dr. Bruce Harris

I stayed in this Hotel for 2 Nights I picked the hotel because I did not have a car at this point of my holiday. What a great location right in the heart of Cairns easy access to shopping right on top of the night markets and a short walk to Esplanade. The room was clean and comfortable with a balcony and the bonus of a flywire door so you can get fresh air at night without the mossies but we did get noise from the street if door was left open as we were in the front so aircon worked well. Washer and dryer in the bathroom coffee making facilities fridge a little kitchen if you chose to cook. The pool was heated I think as it was very nice. This hotel is not new but has a good price tag. The staff very friendly and helpful. We will stay again next time when in Cairns so thank you to all staff.

Literally in the middle of the city a stone's throw from The Esplanade beach and pool area. Surrounded by shops and restaurants. Remarkably quiet for its location. Friendly and helpful staff. good parking. Free wifi.

Very good location in the heart of Cairns. Staff are great and the apartment is clean and comfortable with kitchen so you can eat in. Nice pool for the kids. Supermarket just a block away. Will stay again.

We got an apartment for a night. The room was OK. Nothing flash. The decor was dated, but had everything needed. The staff were very helpful. The location is the best part of this place. It is located a couple of doors down from the night markets, making it very central to most of the activities around the esplanade. The bed wasn't amazing, but for our purposes it was fine.

I stayed at the Il Palazzo for nine nights in September 2017, and I am already planning to return. This is a charming and beautiful property in a fantastic location; with great amenities and friendly, outstanding staff. It is surrounded by restaurants, cafes and shopping; and within easy walking distance of almost everything, including the Esplanade, the lagoon, and the Reef Terminal. The Night Markets are a couple of doors down; and the new Aquarium is a short walk away. My one bedroom apartment was located on the 1st floor; and was spacious and nicely fitted-out, with a well-equipped kitchen and walk-in shower in the bathroom. There was also a washer and dryer hidden behind folding doors in the bathroom, which was very handy. I was amazed at how clean my apartment was! The bathroom was spotless (I'm very fussy), and I honestly could not find fault in any way. There was a good sized balcony, and a nice loungeroom area, with plenty of room to relax on the comfortable sofa or at the dining table. Although my balcony faced the street, it was extremely quiet; and I heard no traffic noise at all, even though I'm a light sleeper. There were several Foxtel channels on the television, including some movie channels. Tea, coffee, sugar, etc, were replenished daily; and I really enjoyed trying the Daintree Tea, which was lovely. Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc) were also replaced daily. But I was especially impressed with the wonderful customer service I received from staff at the hotel. My sincere thanks to Kay, Donovan, Caroline and Frances for their warm welcome and attention to detail; and for going "the extra mile" to make my stay a comfortable and happy one. I have a very painful hip condition, and Kay actually purchased a mattress topper prior to my arrival, to ensure my bed was extra-comfortable for me. I thought this was very kind of her. The swimming pool is located on the 1st floor, and is a lovely area with a barbeque and plenty of sun lounges. The pool itself is heated very well, and I enjoyed swimming and exercising in the warm water in the mornings and evenings. Overall, I can only highly recommend the Il Palazzo to anyone looking for reasonably priced, comfortable and well-situated accommodation in Cairns. Looking forward to returning there next year!
