Found this place. And it’s lovely. Very spacious inside for a couple. Has everything that I needed including washing and drying machine. Very central to everything that we needed or take home. You’ll enjoy this place.
Well priced and great location with very friendly and helpful staff! On site car parking was very handy and the rooms for the price did not disappoint. Albeit on the Main Street you wouldn’t know if you close your balcony door. I would definitely stay again.
We stayed in March 2018 and our stay was fabulous! The hotel has an excellent location. There are numerous restaurants in the area, we walked to the terminal to catch our trip to the Great Barrier Reef and to the swimming lagoon on the Esplanade multiple times. The staff at the front desk was incredible! Caroline was very helpful in providing suggestions on how to plan our open days, made phone calls to get information and booked our tickets for Skyrail. She also provided options to avoid local traffic during the road flooding that was present on one of our days! Another staff member suggested a local hike to a waterfall that was the highlight of our last day in the Cairns area. It was a locals spot that I doubt larger hotels would suggest. Oh, and it was free! :) The room was large, quiet and clean. I will be staying here on any return visit I make, for both the great room and wonderful staff!
Il Palazzo Boutique Apartments Hotel is in a great location in the centre of Cairns, which is why we chose to stay here for 7 nights. Booked through Airbnb so our room wasn't serviced daily as many of the apartments here are. Not a problem for us. All of the apartments appear to be very similar in size and furnishings. Lift access to all levels was quick and efficient . Apartment 21 was very clean and neat. Plenty of room for 2 people, although bedroom is quite small with little storage space other than wardrobe hanging space. Bed was comfortable. Didn't open up sofa bed so can't comment on that but it was very comfortable to sit on and relax. Apartment would still be manageable if you had 4 adults. Kitchenette quite small for very basic meals only but plenty of eateries so close by - why cook when on holidays ??!! Handy to everything - night markets, shops, restaurants, supermarket, Esplanade, marina, etc. Complimentary under cover car parking was great too. Washer and dryer in bathroom was fantastic to have as well. Local newspapers available in reception. Reception staff were lovely and friendly, and were very quick to respond when the kettle blew a power fuse. We booked a reef tour with them and received free wi-fi for the week, which worked well. They also provided a key for the in-room safe which was handy. Even though they weren't servicing our room, all of the housekeeping staff were happy and friendly when we saw them in the building. The pool and BBQ area was lovely and relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets outside. Appears well maintained. Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment building for location and value for money in the centre of Cairns. It ticked all the boxes for us !!
When I booked on Expedia, I wasn't quite sure what kind of place this would be. We needed an accessible room. When we sent a request through Expedia website, prompt came the response from the hotel. Good first step! We arrived at about noon. The room was ready. We found actually it is a suite! -- not a very high end though -- and it had a kitchen with microwave, hotplate, coffee maker, complete set of cutlery and utensils. They even had dishwashing soap sachets! It is fully air-conditioned, spacious for our needs, and included in-room laundry facilities. Quite handy after visiting beaches and reef :) The staff (including Frances) and the co-owners / managers (Donovan and Kay) were very friendly. Initially we got a room closer to lift / elevator but the bathroom wasn't accessible type. The very next day the changed our room! This hotel is very much in the center of the city, close to shops, restaurants and Night Market. You can also walk to the reef terminal in 5 minutes if you are planning to go to see the coral reefs. Of all the places we had been in Australia, Cairns was the best. Hoping to return again. When we come back, Il Palazzo would be our first choice.
Our room was perfect for us (2 best friends in our 60s). A bedroom, living rm with flat screen TV, free WiFi, kitchen with microwave, toaster, compression coffeemaker, and electric tea pot. And air conditioning. Big bathroom, a washer, dryer and utility sink and a safe. A balcony with 2 chairs. There’s an elevator so no carrying luggage up steps. There’s a swimming pool but I’d rather use the gorgeous salt water free public pool that’s 1 block away, right next to the ocean. The front desk was welcoming and helpful. There was free inside garage parking. The hotel is on the Main Street, so you can food shop, eat at any of the myriad of restaurants, shop at the night market, and walk to the marina for the snorkeling cruises. Right now, there is construction occurring within the hotel and right next to it. While we enjoyed peaceful nights, you may want to inquire how much longer the construction will be going on. Funny note: enormous bats wake up each evening in a tree across the street from the hotel. And I mean BIG bats. It’s quite a show when hundreds of them are swooping around to begin their nocturnal foraging.
Il palazzo - we spent 6 days in Cairns and stayed here throughout - its a nice boutique apartment hotel - we enjoyed ourselves - points to note: Pros Nicely appointed suites with a small kitchen, also has a washing machine and dryer Very accommodating owners who were helpful with in house issues as well as with tips and recommendations for the area Excellent location - 1 block from esplanade, 1 minute from the night market, close to supermarket and fairly close to the big shopping center at the train station very good a/c Cons Internet was atrociously slow Beds are saggy, we were fortunate to be able to move rooms and get a slightly harder mattress - perhaps only an issue for people with bad backs like me? there is some construction work going on next door - lots of noise - early in the morning
We stayed at the Il Palazzo for 1 nights at the end of our ‘Reef & rainforest’ visit to the north end. It was an excellent choice. The apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped. The hotel is in an excellent central location with off street parking. The night market is literally 2 minutes away and the walk to it all undercover which is important during the monsoon season. Lots of ‘cheap eats’ options here. The esplanade (restaurants etc) is no more than 10 minutes walk away. Donovan was a friendly and gracious host who helped us with ideas of things to do around Cairns in the morning before our flight. He also let us leave our car in the parking lot beyond checkout time so we could have a look around. The Il Palazzo was a great choice for our short stay in Cairns. Thanks
After my experience with another motel in Coolangatta I was nervous about what to expect, however I have to say that the Il Palazzo was better than I expected. After calling ahead to make sure my booking was set and found the receptionist there to be very obliging and helpful. Even though my arrival time was earlier than check in, they told me to come by anyway and if a room was ready I could check in early. As it happened the room wasnt quite ready but Caroline who was on the day I arrived was very friendly and we chatted long enough for me to be able to go up get settled and have a shower before going out to see my friends. Despite being next to a major construction site, this Hotel was in a great location, walking distance to everything. I had a room on the 3rd floor with a view of the city and the hills behind Cairns. The room was very comfortable and had everything you would need in a self contained unit. It had a Living room/ kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom with bath, shower and toilet, washing machine dryer, and hair dryer. The rooms are serviced daily or less if you don't need it. Very spacious and comfy and thank god for the air-conditioning. Would be ok for small family or 2 pairs of adults. (fold out bed in living room). The Cairns night market is right next door and there are plenty of people about until 10pm so you can safely go visit or find dinner at any one of the many restaurants. Its not far to go to the centre of town and less than 900mtrs from the Esplanade and the Pier. I had a rental car I picked up from the airport and it took less than 10 mins to get to the hotel from the airport. There is off street parking available. The building is disability friendly. If you are leaving early however, remember to take care of your bill the night before. I would definitely stay here again next visit.
We were at Il palazzo for our honeymoon and we couldn’t have picked a better place. While we are used to more modern hotels, il palazzo had more of a rustic feel. It was right next to the night market and the esplanade. The staff went out of their way to be nice. We had some issue with the neighbor’s music being too loud at night and they solved it immediately. Thank you for your hospitality.
