Lovely, friendly, helpful staff. Let us check in early since our flight arrived early. We got a fantastic room with a dreamy view of the harbor. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks for making our stay in Cairns a dream.

Carpet was very dirty, otherwise room was good. A little further north on the Esplanade than I thought it would be.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Shout out to the sales manager Sandra who served as an unofficial concierge for my next stop in Thailand. The hotel is about 2 km from the heart of Cairns.

This hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the Central Business District, but they provide shuttle service and we enjoyed being at the quiet end of the beach. The staff was very helpful. The pool was being remodeled so it will be even better when that happens. We loved the view from our balcony! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who does not mind not being in the big middle of all the action!

staff is fantastic. Carpet needs to be updated. Internet connection is very poor. At least shoudle provide free internet in lobby for guests to check E mail.

Stayed 4 nights at the Mercure Cairns Harbourside March 24th 2014 with my wife and daughter. Room great size, very clean and comfortable, all the amenities in a room that you require. Front desk staff always had a smile on their face and greeted you when you walked by. They went out of their way to book a local trip for you. They didn't try to sell you the trips but listened to what you wanted to see or do then they would give great advise as to the best trip to suit our needs. The swimming pool was out of order new pool area being constructed, saw the blue prints would love to be there when it is finished. If you wanted to go pool side they would shuttle you to a local hotel with a pool no charge. Speaking of shuttling. Every hour they would drive you to the town centre and pick you up if you were waiting to take you back to the hotel. Can't say enough the Canadians had a very enjoyable visit to Cairns and an even better stay at the Mercure. You can't go wrong at this establishment. Taggarts Fort Frances, Ont Canada

The staff was excellent in assisting with restaurant recommendations and helping to book tours for the Great Barrier Reef. The shuttle service to the main city center was easy to use and saved me for paying for a taxi or walking.

I'm in Australia on holiday for most of November 2012. All of my hotel and flight arrangements were made earlier in the year. I had booked a flight from Port Douglas to Sydney mid-month when the airline contacted me days before to inform me that I have a two-day flight delay. I scrambled to find a place to stay that was close to Cairns Airport when I found the hotel on the website. It received great reviews and I really needed something good to come out of my unfortunate layover so I booked the room. Mission accomplished! The staff was beyond friendly, providing me with maps about town and even giving me some suggestions on places to visit. The room was really nice (it felt like an executive suite) and had an amazing view of the beach. I was simply in awe. I would definitely recommend and book another stay.

Worse hotel I have stayed at during my travels. Had to wait an additional hour for my room, they lost my luggage in the hotel while they were making me wait. They have basic television and the room service was not good. I had to call to complain about the fact that there was no hot water. Don't bother staying here- save your money and go some place else.

Staff very helpful with tours and all other needs. Clean and very nice.

amazing view. loved everything

My husband and I were known as the "Long Time Stay Couple" we spent 15 fabulous days exploring the Cairns region and using the Mercure hotel as our "home away from home" even if we stayed a couple of nights on Dunk Island, we kept our room at the Mercure. Very helpful and friendly staff and when the word got out it was my birthday...everytime I ran into a staff member they would wish me a happy birthday...it was as if a wonderful all hands memo went out to everyone :)

The service was fantastic. Everything we asked to the staff was provided in a few seconds (advices, additional towels, glasses,....) Very clean and quiet room with a view on the ocean. Even if the hotel is located at 20 minutes from Cairns downtown, the free shuttle was very convenient between 10am and 10pm.

good hotel with excellent ocean view rooms with balconies. the only bad thing i could say was the breakfast buffet was outrageously priced with terrible food.besides that everything was great.

Area has tours by boat of the Great Barrier Reef and a number of other points of scenic interest.

The hotel is a couple kilometers from town. There is an hourly free shuttle from the hotel, but it does not run early enough to catch the reef transporters. Nor does it go to the airport. There are laundry facilities in the basement. The location is wonderful for accessing the walking path to Carines.
