First impressions of walking into the hotel I thought it would be a good experience - nice lobby. The harbour is gorgeous but this has nothing to do with the hotel. That is where any praise will end. On arrival, we were given a two bedroom apartment on the second floor. Immediately after walking in the room we smelt a strong stench - it smelt dirty (it was however clean), and felt run down. I immediately called down to reception and 10 minutes later one of the night managers came up. Instead of defusing the situation he stated "Well the room has been rented out every night and we have not had a problem" - Whoever has stayed in that room has issues with smell or are happy to put up with substandard accommodation. We were moved to another room (at an extra cost) which had a slight resemblance to the image on the website. This room had a carpet which was full of stains both dirt and bleach as well as mould over the blinds. The apartment had no character what so ever and it felt like a 2 star establishment (or what I imagine a 2 star establishment to be) Wifi - if you need wifi whilst your staying at this hotel get a dongle. Wifi at the hotel is a joke. I stay with the Accor brand around the world and I am usually happy however this "hotel" is sub standard addition to the Accor brand. The hotel is listed as 4 stars - I suggest the board who reviewed the hotel do so again.
This hotel is located in a prefect location for business and tourists. I had a standard room that was relatively large with a good view of the inlet. The room was quite. The shower was terrific after arriving in late. The bed was a little disappointing with the middle very hard. It must have been two single joined. The pillows however made up for this issue. Location is great to walk to the reef day trips. There are plenty of eating options just down stairs or within easy walking distance.
One of the places to stay. Very well located. Close to all the action. Not cheap but well worth it. Apartment rooms serviced daily - nice. Hotel facilities all very nice. Staff friendly and always accomodated our requests. Highly recommend.
What a surprise this was........ we had checked our the harbour side hotels but they were well out of our budget. We pulled up outside, called reception and managed to snag a room for under $200 and in addition to this, they let us in the room before 12 midday, this was a nice surprise, especially after paying $130 a night in a clapped out cabin at the caravan parks. In addition, the reception staff were really nice folks as well. Our room was overlooking the Harbour right where all the tourist boat action is. Very busy with coming and goings of every water craft you can imagine. I spent a lot of time just watching the action from the balcony. At the front of the hotel are many waterfront restaurants offering all sorts of great food. We had a few beers and lunch there for a reasonable price. Back in the room was a king bed and all the usual features. Will definitely be back here as its right in the heart of Cairns and you walk downstairs and you are off to the Great Barrier Reef in the boat of your choosing.
We booked our accom through Accor and upgraded for a 1 bed with water views 7 weeks before our arrival. Unfortunately, we were put on level 2 facing the Hilton Hotel and overlooking the very busy street and driveways, so our balcony was very noisy and far from private. The unit was very comfortable no doubt, however, when you look at the website, all of the pics clearly focus on the part of the building you can't stay in, rather than where you do. Position down on the wharf is great, but I don't think I'll stay there again!
A very clean and tidy room that had a usable balcony overlooking Trinity Inlet and Cairns CBD. The hotel was centrally located with restaurant access from the hotel and,in addition, only a short walk to the city centre and waterfront. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean and quite spacious although no hooks to hang clothes. Gabriella kept our room clean and neat . A young lady at reception, named Jo, was unfailingly courteous and helpful. a good advertisement for the hotel. A nice stay in a well positioned hotel.
We had an apartment with everything in it including a washing machine. Wonderful view of the Harbour and lists of restaurants within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful will definitely stay there again.
We stayed at Cairns Harbour Lights for two nights and it proved to be a good base for Cairns. It is an apartment style hotel, and we had a nice roomy apartment with a separate bedroom. It was well appointed with with a good standard of furnishings, and a comfortable bed. A bonus for us was, that although our room was on the inland side of the building, we still had a good view of the harbour (Chinaman Creek) and were able to watch the marine traffic to and from the port. It has a good range of restaurants located on the ground floor - we ate at Dundees for lunch one day, and had breakfast at the Kickstarter Cafe both days. The breakfast servings are very generous in size and were really good! (This is the cafe that is part of the bed and breakfast deal) The location was as good as we had hoped, with the centre of town just a short 5 - 10 minute stroll away. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and we would thoroughly recommend Harbour Lights as an excellent place to stay in Cairns. 5
We had a great time and enjoyed our room but we booked this hotel specifically because it has a spa only to arrive and find that it isn't heated, never seen that before, our bathing suits never made it out of the suitcase:(
Cairns Harbour Lights' location on the harbor was impeccable, and was perfect for catching our boat out to the Great Barrier Reef. It was located in the heart of the dining, cultural and shopping activities and near the Port of Cairns. We had our own mini apartment (room 605 the first two nights and then room 405 our final three nights after we returned from 2 nights on the reef) with a spacious living room with couches, a small wooden table, a large balcony with side views of the harbor and surrounding mountains, a mini kitchen, a washer and dryer (which was extremely awesome during a long trip!!) a bedroom and bathroom. We had a tv in our bedroom and in the main living room. The mini kitchen included a small fridge, dishwasher. silverware, plates, microwave, stove top, and sink. The bathroom was on the smaller side and poorly designed. The walk in shower sprayed water all over the floor and the shower door opened up to the entry door instead of the rack of towels so you had to walk completely out of the shower to get the towel. We couldn't reuse our towels because we needed them to dry up the floor. The room was quite dark when we shut the black out shades, which was so important to us since we were traveling with a toddler. The pool deck was fabulous (but neither pool nor jacuzzi were heated) and had a fabulous BBQ grill we utilized. Since it was an apartment complex, some of the regular amenities that one anticipates receiving in a hotel weren't available. There was no direct room service, breakfast, ice machine, a place to refill water bottles, or other similar things. There were restaurants downstairs for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a grocery store was a quick walk away. The kitchen and washer/dryer were huge perks.
