Cheryl and Lena are at your beck and call. Nothing is too difficult. Room was immaculate so full marks to the housekeepers. Next time I'm in Cairns I know where I will be staying. Congrats ladies. Full marks
When I checked in it was pretty straight forward. However we on 3rd floor which wasn’t a real issue for us but elderly may struggle with luggage as there are no lifts. Which I got to say for that many floors I was surprised. The room itself was quite good however you had to tread carefully as the tiles were pretty slippery and damp from all the rain. The other thing is not much of street parking which Well it didn’t affect us but I did d see a heated confrontation in the car park over a parking spot. Price wise very cheap would I stay there again ? Probably not well certainly wouldn’t be my first choice.
My cardinal error here? I forgot to check other TripAdvisor reviews. To start with the photos of this place would have you believe that it is clean and modern, it is neither . I wanted to cancel even at reception before I saw our room but wasn't sure as to whether I would lose the three nights money that I paid . If you squint your eyes you might call it a down backpacker joint but then you say ok at the price. This place isn't all that cheap! Threadbare towels and bedding small noisy aircon unit , the shower even had something I haven't seen since I rented fourty years ago , a cheap grubby plastic shower screen that did nothing more than inundate the bathroom floor making it slippery and dangerous. It even appeared to have either water staining or some kind of black mould on the ceiling. Noisy guests at the bar immediately below our room made even a relaxing evening in front of the tv a chore , going to sleep before the bar finished was not an option . Photos are a total misrepresentation and as I said - run ,don't walk - run a mile from this place. I have stayed in the USA and Thailand but had to come home to my own country to find the worst accomodation I have ever experienced.
Stayed for four nights on two occasions. Friendly staff, nice room, good buffet and pleasant atmosphere. Not really in the town centre however you can reach the centre of cairns in a 50 minute walk or a brief taxi trip.
Horrible experience. Looks ok in the ad but then they shove you out in a hovel. We booked a room with a balcony and were shoved down on a ground floor unit in an old motel section. Returned from dinner to find the room infested (this is not an exaggeration) absolutely infested with bugs. When we saw reception about the issue she called the owner who insinuated we left the door open. After seeing the bugs, because we might have been lying, the receptionist was astonished at the infestation and finally changed our room. 2 hours later and obviously after a shift change, another guest used a second key and walked into our room. Trying to get a refund for the second night, which we had prepaid through Wotif.com, was the icing on the cake. Because we hadn't booked through the property we had to try to contact Wotif for the refund. So they use a third party for advertisement and to get more bookings, but wipe their hands of them when it suits them. (We all know how hard it can be to contact a website and this proved the case with Wotif's contact phone number being disconected.) This is a budget motel, don't let the advertisment photo's or write-up fool you. At this point I want to point out the receptionist was very hospitable and being the end of the day it was obvious she had dealt with numerous complaints, she did nothing wrong including leaving a note stating our room change so it was the fault of whoever took over from her when our room key was given to another guest.
This is quite easily the worst place I have stayed at. That’s saying a lot since my hotel use spans four contents. The our side of the building is poorly maintained and in need of a good cleaning. The lobby area looks like an abandoned building from some movie. As for the rooms. The room had two beds as advertised. No real chairs to speak of. They instead decided to use aluminum lawn chair and a table they pulled out of a bar somewhere. There are two outlets in the main room one of which is hidden behind the tv. The night side tables are permanently dirty and the ac isn’t very cold. As an added bonus the AC has a slight mold smell too. Please don’t not do this to yourself. Nothing about this facility is one star let alone the motels current “three star” rating. Please don’t waist your time going anywhere near this place. I your just looking for price consider a hostel.
Stayed here for one night. Disgusting! Room stank, couch was dirty and smelly, pool looked like there was suspicious brown objects floating. Dirty. And overpriced! Plenty of options for accommodation in cairns, do not book here!
The Cairns City Sheridan is a decent place to stay, but they definitely need to upgrade their wifi, it hardly works (at least not on the 3rd floor) and there's a minor ant problem, so keep any snacks sealed up or in the fridge. The staff was decent, and the pool was refreshing to take a dip in on a hot day.
Where do I start the photos they put up online are not this motel receptionist told me this that they are photos of a room at Rydges so don't think the rooms are same as photo. I was told there was Austar and undercover parking 3 undercover parks and Austar been cut off for months. No elevator so if your on the high floors good luck with your suit cases.Rooms very dated and old.Young girl on reception very helpfull tho.
As mentioned in another review, the photographer must be amazing at their job, as photos are not a true representation of the motel. It's just a bit manky everywhere. Air-conditioning was rusty, the safe was very rusty. The bathroom smelt of faeces and looked as if someone had just shaved there. Linen not laundered properly. I am giving this place two stars as I have stayed in worse places in Cairns!
