Backpacker+ accommodation in a quieter suburb of Cairns, with some obvious effort made to provide an oasis for travelers on a budget. WiFi was not connecting, which marred an otherwise pleasant overnight stopover between flights. Friendly staff, reasonable value.

Experience was OK, room clean, some smoke buts on balcony. Shared amenities, but for price room was good. Internet free but poor connection. Staff friendly and helpful. Had to catch bus to go the city. Heard from locals that it is not safe in nights to walk around this suburb. But for budget travellers this hotel is good catch. There was even a swimming pool. Can rent a bikes as well, but we took electric bikes from the city and kept them in hotels garage for night.

between town and airport taxi ride is only $20. Room was small but if you are just spending the night it is fine. Breakfast is terrible, just cereal and toast.

We booked this hotel because the photos looked great. We were shocked when we got there and realized our room had no bathroom. We begged for a room with a private bathroom and after the guy snickering (who by the way we had to go wake up because there was no professional staff working after hours or 24 hours like a typical hotel and we arrived after 8 pm). The pool is clean but super small. The breakfast is pretty much bread and cereal, no hot food at all. It felt exactly like a hostel and that is what they should call it but it's absolutely no resort or even basic hotel.

We walked up for breakfast and was handed 2 slices of Toast. They only offered instant coffee and 2 types of cereal.

Staff was superb for local information and sincerely friendly. The room was clean and fresh from AC. A little off the beaten path but still within reason to walk or catch bus.

I arrived late at night for a one night stay before I headed to sea on a liveaboard and just needed a place to crash for a few hours. I'd booked ahead and the night manager had my key ready in an outside safe. Good place for the value.

Excellent staff and facilities. Room was big and comfortable. It is a little big long of downtown (around 3 km). But you can walk or take a taxi for AU$10. I will definitely recommend this hotel.

We booked two adjacent rooms since they did not have two bedroom apartments available. The rooms are small. The location is ok though not great. It is at the corner of downtown Cairns. Without a car, it takes 20 minutes to half an hour to walk to the piers. Other than the size and location, everything is ok.

Room rate was cheap compared with other hotels. Location was a little bit far from downtown. Breakfast and room cleanliness were unsatisfactory.

I stayed in the backpackers section of the hotel. Hotel was very affordable but lacked basic ammenities. No towels provided, no soap or anything elsein the rooms or bathrooms. Washers, dryers, and one iron and ironing bard are available at the hotel but will cost you $4 a load to wash and another $4 to dry. Lots of hidden charges. Airport Shuttle will cost you $10 per trip which is about the same as a taxi. WIFI access is available but will cost you over $5 for 75 min if you use it around the resort but climbs to over $5 for 30 min if you want to use it in your room. That is outrageous considering most places downtown offer FREE internet usage. Location is really bad, at least a 30 min walk from the hotel to downtown and there are no places to eat nearby. Overall, for $15 a night I wasnt expecting anything special and the hotel IS nicer then some Ive seen in the are, but for a few dollars more you can stay in a nicer place much closer to downtown.

Our flight came in at 2am, but they left us our key in a safe outside the lobby, so getting in wasn't a problem. It's a walk to get downtown, but it's nothing crazy, and the boardwalk extends that far north, so it's a quick walk to Cairns' fabulous Esplanade and then you can take that into the city. Both times we stayed here (weekday), we got our own room which is obviously a dorm at other times, so the rooms we've stayed in have had one or two extra beds, and were therefore huge! They seem to cater to backpackers, though, so we did have one issue with very loud guests coming into the hotel at 4am and laughing and yelling, but that comes with the territory...

Good hotel for an inexpensive option. Close to airport. Helpful and friendly staff.
