This hotel is located near the bus station which was our primary reason to select this as we had an early morning bus on the check out day. It's located in kind of a residential area, so its not in some main market or something like that but has good tram connectivity within 500 meters. Its a small hotel but clean and comfortable. We didn't had breakfast in our package but they were ok for us to have morning coffee from the breakfast area and pay just for it, normally hotels try to overcharge for such instances but this was not the case here which I liked. All in all, a good comfortable stay and would not hesitate to come back if I am looking in this location.

Judging by the proprietors response to previous remarks made I think he/she may be missing the point a bit, if people tell you that the rooms are filthy then guess what, they probably are. In my book the excuse that these are budget rooms is no excuse. The shower room needs a deep clean to remove the copious amounts of black mould. Door frame requires replacing due to the rot and yellow fungus. Clean and reseal floor, and ask the cleaners not to use the same cloth for the floor and tiles unless a weird sort of hairy wall effect is what was desired. The dirty/marked bedroom walls and stained carpet are not a good look, nor is the shelf holding on for dear life thanks to the sticky tape. All in all this ranks as the worst place I have had the misfortune to stay at.

I'm leaving this hotel right now and can't understand all the bad reviews. I'm from NYC originally and this is what it reminds me of.Yes the building is old, the lift is creaky and no room service, big deal!! I am paying about 35$USD per night and it's worth it. It has a bed,a shower and large windows that open. The neighborhood is very quiet,a small market nearby and metro a few blocks away. I only need to sleep and shower, this place was perfect for that. The staff was amazing, kristie, niki, bette and especially karcsi. They were helpful, spoke English and tried to accommodate me any way they could. The lobby is small but sometimes the guests and karcsi(Charles) and I would sit up at night talking ,and drinking a coffee. If you are an orange county housewife this is not the place for you!! This is for down to earth ppl who need a room to sleep, change and shower. I don't eat breakfast so can't comment on that, but the food was prepared daily. They have a coffee machine to make various types of coffee and staff let me have one whenever..You can sit in a charming cozy small restaurant area and have breakfast. Let me emphasize, It's an old hotel, not shabby at all.You won't get a flat screen with a DVD, but there is a tv and the wifi works so I could watch English shows on youtube on my tablet. Even though it's dark and quiet(some lighting) on the street it was safe ,and I travel alone all the time.If you want the Hilton go pay big money,I was very happy here and made lasting friendships. They have beer, wine and sodas at the desk, cheap!! Taxis are about 2,000 to 2,500 forrit(8-9usd) and the desk will call for you. Remember though you are close to a big city, taxis, sirens, police cars, yes you hear them from time to time, that's life. You can smoke outside in the front, they have a small area away from the front door. All in all my experience here has been positive and happy.

The front of the hotel is nice and welcoming, staff polite and nice and gave travel advice. Room however was horrible, 2 single beds pushed together with 2 separate duvet covers which barely covered us up, the bed was so low to the floor it was a struggle to get up, the beds were super hard and only 1 pillow each which was as thin as a sheet of paper. The room itself was grubby, marked walls and dust webs throughout. The bathroom had mould in the shower as well as smelling like it had just been repaired, the door frame was damp and broken. Only 2 plug sockets in the room, these were both hanging off the wall. There is also no smoke detector in the room, there’s a space for it but nothing there. There is also no kettle or tea making facilities! Their website states that a safe is included as well as air con, neither of these were included or to be seen anywhere! We ended up leaving and booking up a nicer hotel in the main city centre and left the Gloria without staying one night. Again, no problems with the staff as they were polite! But if your looking for somewhere nice to stay then avoid this and look elsewhere. How this hotel is 3 stars is beyond me!

Where to start. Positives - the location was perfect . Close to the Metro station . Staff were friendly and the breakfast was not great , croissants and bread were not replenished. The bathroom was a shock there was a smell of urine. The shower had mould marks. The room was like walking into a smokers room. The hotel is in a great location it’s a shame about the condition of the room and lack of cleanliness.

FYI: This review is based on my trip overall, not just the hotel. My trip was fab! Budapest really is a beautiful place. It is essential that you get a travel card at the airport which can last up to 24hrs, 48hrs, or 72hrs. It really comes in handy. You can literally take any form of public transport around the city, except cab of course. If you do get a travel card, it comes with a mini booklet which suggests the many different places to visit. Within the city centre they have this beautiful pool which everyone sticks their feet in and relaxes. Handy for a very hot day. There's quite a bit to see in the city centre. They have the tour buses, but I honestly feel like it's better to get the travel card as you can see sooooo much more with no time limit. A lot of people do walk. Hotel Gloria was where I stayed. Not far from the city centre at all. Very close, but will need to take the metro there which is quicker. However, if getting around after 11pm or such, then you'll need to get buses everywhere as the metro station closes at that time. The hotel was 3 stars so you can't really expect much. The bathroom was clean, but has permanent marks in the showers. So nothing can be done. The room was decent overall. Loads of statutes to see and museums. A lot of stairs to climb so that you can get the best views. The views at night are so so great and beautiful, especially on the main bridge. Absolutely stunning! Sometimes they may even put on a show for you on the bridge. There are also a lot of thermal spas which are so worth it! I love budapest because of how cheap it is!

We were booked into this hotel in June not by choice by a travel agent, this is not a hotel its a pit. The pictures on the websites for this hotel are not current, the hotel is absolutely filthy. This is more like a horror back packing hostel. We didn't stay here after the first night but went Hotel Millennium which was much better and a hotel. I have never in all my years of travelling ever experienced anything as appalling as this building. There was no service from the staff at all. TV or AC didn't work, the room was full of cobwebs, on the furniture, on the walls, curtains as well as the wood work. The bed was rock hard and we had to use additional pillows to try and ease the pain of this wooden rock. The lift was dark and had minimum lighting, the communal hall way from the reception to the rooms had crawling insects on the wall. The manager when we reported these failings didn't care as he'd already been paid and simply just said there was no other rooms. Do not stay at this place, when our transport came to take us back to the airport he already had an feeling that we had gone to another hotel as he said that we weren't the first passengers moved out and complained how disgusting it was and he couldn't understand why agencies are using this to put people in.

We found what we thought was a great offer on Wowcher and they sent us to this place. They claimed to be a 3*hotel and it was no where near this. The rooms were small, musky and dirty. Cobwebs in the corners even on the wardrobe so who knows when it has last been cleaned. The beds were not beds, there were slabs of wood like camper beds with no padding, had to use blankets from the single bed in the room to make it more comfortable but didnt help. There were sockets hanging off the wall with exposed wires...anything could have happened. The TV didnt work and when we asked them to look at it they said cant fix it now. In the room, there was a fridge with bottles of water that had been previously open, god knows how long they had been there for. We arrived in the evening and asked where we could eat, the hotel directed us to another hotel about 10 minutes away- go figure and it was really nice there. We were due to stay at Hotel Gloria for 2 nights but could not bear to stay in this place so asked if there were rooms in the other hotel, there wasnt for the first night so we 'had' to stay but went to the other hotel for the other night which was called the Hunguest Millenium hotel- a proper 3* hotel. This really put a dampener on my holiday and the company Weekender Breaks should check these hotels before sending people there as this is a representation of their company and will come back to them. Please also see my pictures.

I spent two nights here and I very much enjoyed my stay. I arrived late in the evening, but that wasn't a problem as the reception was open 24 hours. I was greeted by a lovely and friendly member of staff who immediately made me feel welcome. The hotel is in a nice and quiet street and there is a metro just 10-12 minutes away that will take you wherever you need to go. The front of the hotel is very pretty and the reception and the room had exactly the charm and style that I expected of a hotel in Budapest. The WiFi was excellent - I could get some work done as well as stream Netflix. My room was cleaned the next day while I was out, so that was perfect! Also, there's a lift so you don't have to carry your luggage up and down the stairs. The breakfast was great with lots of food to choose from - you definitely won't go hungry. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and I would definitely visit again.

Cheap hotel in a very quiet residential neighbourhood. Metro was about 10 minute walk away so getting into centre of Budapest wasn't an issue. Staff on reception spoke English & were always friendly & helpful with advising on how to get to places & booking taxis etc. Rooms are basic & could do with updating but they were clean. Wifi was also good.
