Location: The location was good. We exited and entered through the Boscolo Hotel side a lot as we found the area around the Cent supermarket and kebab/pizza shop attracted some interesting people. The main part of Budapest is approx 1-2km away or a 10-20min walk depending. Majority of hop on hop off buses leave from out the front of the New York Cafe as it is a tourist place. Room: We were kindly upgraded to a two level apartment. It was incredibly spacious with lovely views from the quieter side of the hotel. So nice to spread out after three weeks of traveling. The bed was large and very comfortable. The cleaners came daily and did a great job. As per other reviews I agree that the rooms are tired. There was mould in our shower roof, the grout needed redoing and parts were rusting. The room had general wear and tear but mainly the bathroom needed some work. I think it would be helpful to have instructions for the washing machine in the room. In the end we used the common laundry to wash and dry our clothes. Wifi: Wifi connection was brilliant. We never had a problem even when we went to the lobby. Breakfast: Breakfast options were more than ok at the residence. Proper scrambled eggs (not packet) and pastries available. We found this more than enough each morning. Coffee machine is available for use all day as well. Staff: All of the staff were very helpful and friendly at all times. Thank you for making our stay great! As a side note not relating to the property, be wary of taxi drivers. Watch the meter and check it when you get in. We and other people we spoke to in passing were ripped off substantially. When not looking they increase the fare or the meter is out of sight. We asked reception each time what the expected cost should be.
We spent three nights at the Boscolo Residence in September 2017. On arrival we were upgraded, which we were told would give us the same facilities, but a better lay out. Initial impressions were good, the room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, sofa and chair and free wifi. It took a little longer for the issues to become apparent. The safe didn't work as the batteries had run out and had to be replaced when reported, toilet paper was only replenished when we asked and the television needed the plug wiggling to work. The suite had a washing machine, oven, fridge, kettle and dishwasher but no tea making facilities and not even any cutlery. It seems daft having facilities which you can't use. The shower was also problematic. The overhead shower head was so scaled up that water dribbled out in all directions so you couldn't actually get out of the spray, for example, to lather up your shampoo. The alternative is to have a one handed shower (the shower head was too low to wash your hair if left in the bracket) with the unfixed shower head. On the upside this had good water pressure but if run for more than a couple of minutes like this, it filled the poorly draining shower tray and spilled out into the bathroom. Breakfast was okay, but nothing particularly special. The hot food at the buffet wasn't replenished on our first morning and the hot drinks machine broke at least once every morning. The hotel gave the air of one where money was running out. It was tired and under equipped. It's such a shame when none of the issues would be that difficult or costly to resolve.
I don't think it deserves the 5 Star rating some reviewers suggest. We booked a Junior Suite with courtyard view and were given room 176. The size was fine but the view was of the glass roof of an unoccupied shop below, not a courtyard, and at night if you had the window open you could smell the deep fat fryers of the Kebab shop almost below. It was large and quiet in the middle of the city but although part of the main hotel the maintenance was poor. Most of the walls and certainly in the bedroom need repainting. The shower head was disgusting and scaled as was the "stainless steel" frame along the bottom. The seal on the shower door was broken causing puddles on the floor. I had to remove very thick dust from the top shelf in the wardrobe before using it and there were not enough coat hangers for two people staying for 7 days, as we were. The kitchen provided a dishwasher but that is totally pointless because you only get 3 plates, 4 assorted glasses etc., so there is never enough to fill it and make it worthwhile operating, you also only get one dishwasher tablet. There was no bread knife or even a can opener. The enormous, perhaps 12 feet high, floor to ceiling curtains all along one entire wall had to be tugged to close at night because the electric motors did not work. We only found out by accident that you could reach the main hotel without going outside. However the staff were all very helpful and friendly and we still enjoyed out stay but perhaps a 3 star rating would be more appropriate! We had a breakfast in the main hotel, I think it was 25 Euros for the cooked buffet and 14 Euros for the Continental. The setting is elegant but the organisation is poor. I wanted a full cooked buffet but my wife just wanted a Continental breakfast. I had to go downstairs to the buffet area and then carry my breakfast back up stairs to where she was served with her choice. There was also, unfortunately, piped music playing which is very inappropriate in such a lovely setting. This type of music was also being played at the main entrance where the doorman in slightly grubby uniforms and unpolished shoes loitered.
I had booked Prestige Suite and checked into this hotel on 01-Sep-2017. First, I was given a room on 6th floor which was very different (in negative ways) from the photos they publicize. Second, the shower was rusted (check the attached pic) and looked like from world war era. It was not working at all, had to complain and get it replaced Third, the water was not draining down the sink and bathtub. Again had to raise a complaint to get them fixed. The guys sucked the holes by pumps and brought them to working condition. Fourth, there was a strange kind of smell in one of the bathroom, which i was told impossible to fix, since it requires a long procedure. Finally, on 3rd Sep a proper suit was available and I shifted to the same. It looked bigger and overall nice. But... Sixth, cutlery was missing in the kitchen. And in my life, now i have seen a hotel where they provide a note and pencil, but ignore your notes plainly. Seventh, water from the tap comes at approx one tenth of the actual flow. I am yet to get it fixed. I will as soon as i get the time. Eight, wifi fluctuats so much that even speed test is not able to get any results out of it. I have already raised a complaint for that and expecting it to be fixed by tomorrow. By now, I have lost the sense of my visit to Budapest. I guess it must be finding and fixing all the issues of Hotel Boscolo Luxury Residence. I also hope they will also pay me in the end for my services of finding and fixing problems. I have to stay here till 23rd Sep. I am doomed.
We stayed in Boscolo Residence for 2 nights and we had overall great experience. The highlight is a breakfast in NY Cafe which is in connected Boscolo Autograph Hotel - you need to make you you got a rate or offer with this option. The breakfast in Boscolo Residence lobby did not seem so great. Rooms in Residence have a good size and are clean.
Stayed for 3 nights on the spa and breakfast package. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our suite was in a quiet part of the hotel which we requested and was more than adequate. We have no complaints about the cleanliness and housekeeping came in daily. We didn't use the kitchen facilities but everything seemed to be there if we'd have needed it. Air con was great with outside temperatures at 34 degrees it was a definite bonus. Breakfast in the New York cafe and restaurant was great and taken in decadent surroundings. Particularly enjoyed the champagne and the piano accompaniment each morning. Spa facilities were good. The hotel is a little way out of the centre of Budapest but there are excellent transport links so this wasn't an issue.
I stayed here for about 2 weeks when i relocated to Budapest with my job- the residents rooms are fantastic. The rooms were cleaned daily and immaculately well kept, and the kitchen had 2 hobs that could be used for cooking. My only complaint is an oven would have made things infinitely better! Also, you need to use the shared facilities for washing and drying clothes but that's no big deal! If you want somewhere to stay that feels more like an apartment than a hotel room, these are great for that!
Good size deluxe apartment at the great location, easy access to public tranportation and walking distance to city center and many tourist attractions. Room slightly worn out looking, could use some pain. Extra comfy bed. Guests can use also the Boscolo Hotel entrance and facilities. Breakfast included in the room rate only served at the residence lobby. Breakfast assortment was quite limited and service a little bit disorganized. Overall great stay at a reasonable price.
Although it's the biggest apartroom i've ever been, it's no well cleaned up. There are hairs all over the room and wc's floor, it's very dirty under the sofás and beds. There are broken tiles and spots of dirty hands on the walls. So, even if it's great and big and well furnished, it's hardly a 5 stars quality hotel. The breakfast is very poor (for a 5 stars).
We loved this concept! It worked very well for us with a breakfast package at the New York Cafe! The Spa treatments was good and the staff there was very helpful. The only negative is the service in the reception could have been better. But we managed and will be back...
