This hotel was awful. Arrived at 8 o'clock at night to find no restraunt open no bar. As you were stuck in the miles away there was no were to go. T.v. didn't work. The beds were awful room stank. Bedding was disgusting. Shower didn't work. Very old and smells awful. Stayed one night and checked out. Your miles away from main Budapest. Breakfast awful.. On fairness the staff were nice.
First thing first, this was a very low budget hotel so if you want somewhere very basic and you're not concerned about how far away it is from everything, then you'll be fine hear but that wasn't us. The problems were not all the hotels fault, I clearly didn't do my research properly on this one. The hotel was about 10 Km away from Budapest and it was down a narrow back street in a residential district that would have been difficult to access via public transport. The area was poorly lit and there were people loitering in the car park. Inside things weren't much better. The hotel felt like it was previously a care home. I'm not sure if that's the case but it was very dated. They keys were old fashioned keys with a ball and chain, the room had a very old fashioned CRT tv with built in VCR that would have been great if it was 1991. The bathroom was a wet room, and poorly finished. The door had to be locked from the inside to keep it locked, I'm not sure it would pass UK fire regulation standards. The information for visitors was full of warnings about not leaving anything valuable either in a car or in the room, didn't fill us with confidence. It took us just 10 minutes to make the decision to check out again and leave. I did feel sorry for the staff, the man at reception was nice and polite and he was disappointed we chose to leave but courteous. It wasn't his fault, we're simply used to a higher standard of room and location, even with budget prices and I fully accept that we were at fault for not doing our research. The hotel didn't lie about anything in there information online.
Very friendly people at the Alfa Art Hotel. They speak good English. Breakfast is ok but nothing special. Dinner (a la carte) is not much choice but good and they even offered a free dessert. The room is clean enough, beds are not that good though (you can feel the springs of the mattress). Some noise can be heard from the other guests on the hallway. At our early checkout (4 AM) they even gave us our breakfast in a bag: very nice. The hotel can be reached by bus (34) which is about 50 minutes from the city center (first take metro 3).
I spent a night in this hotel and me and my husband had our wedding here. The day went better than expected. Everything was in order, the staff was friendly and helpful, the food was lovely and all our guest were very satisfied, we received many positive feedbacks. The room was clean and cosy. Also we were able to take some wedding pictures on the bank of the Danube (next to the hotel). There are plenty of parking spaces by the hotel, which was very important for us when choosing a wedding venue. We were very happy with everything and we left with happy memories. Thank you.
Good staff, everyone is extremely smiley and helpful. The hotel's location is a bit far from the center, but the surroundings is silent, hotel is cosy. Food, wine were excellent. There is no bath, just a sauna but we absolutely enjoyed it:) Plan to return in summer.
This hotel is outside of Budapest city in a quiet residential area ,on the banks of the Danube, with a good view of the river. The rooms are well heated with a good size shower, and nice hot water. Clean sheets and towels everyday during our long weekend stay. We used the restaurant and found the food very good and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was continental buffet with a good selection. On the morning we left (party of 6), they even prepared us a packed breakfast. Very nice and helpful staff. If we ever visit Budapest again we would not hesitate to stay here. Because this hotel is about 40 minutes outside the city it is very easy to use the bus service and metro, and us senior citizens even got free travel on the bus and metro, just by showing our passport. Wonderful.
This hotel was a pleasant surprise. It was clean, had been updated and our experience was, it was not tired. Room was very nice and view of Danube was beautiful. Warm colours and a warm room. Beds were very comfy and mattresses were spotless! Shower always hot. Breakfast was plentiful. We enjoyed it. I don't go away expecting a full English, just good quality, and a good selection. This they delivered. Staff were very helpful and I thank them. They were much friendlier than in City Centre. Smiling on the whole is definately not big in Budapest. A great shame. Situated 20 mins by taxi to centre. Cost was an average of 5,000 HUF each way. We never used public transport. It was just so quick and easy via taxi. Our last night the taxi driver over charged us by just under 9 HUF. When questioned said it was due to the charge doubling after 8pm. We knew this not to be the case! We did ask night reception also. Bad experience! We never ate dinner at hotel, as we were in City until late each day. Hungarian food was disappointing there. So I suggest you try hotel. We had coffees and Hungarian brandy at the hotel. These were all good and very reasonable. Maid service is daily and they are very good. A big thank you to them also. We enjoyed our stay at Alfa Art hotel and would definitely stay again, as we liked everything! For a 3 star hotel it is excellent.
I stayed here with a group of friends to celebrate a silver wedding anniversary and explore Budapest and the surrounding area for a few days. My room - 421 - was perfectly quiet and away from any noise that my friends experienced on lower floors from other guests, music from other parties and the early morning staff moving furniture around. During our stay, the hotel dealt with our group of 22 people, a couple of weddings and a large number of Japanese tourists. The staff at reception were unfailingly helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a private party one evening in one of the hotel's public rooms which they allowed us to decorate ourselves and bring in our own musician. For the rest of our stay we used a large wooden "cabin" in the grounds where we were able to use a large fridge to store the wine, beer and drinks we bought locally and the hotel lent us a subbuteo table, a table tennis and a darts board. Breakfast was substantial, with a different choice of hot food each morning - eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes and onions, a good selection of cereal and breads, great coffee from a push button machine and pastries too. Despite my room being tired and dated with regard to the furniture and decor, it was spotlessly clean, as was my very compact shower room. Hot water available all the time. The hotel is on the Danube and I turned right onto the path, walked 30-40 minutes to find plenty of small places serving meals, snacks and drinks. We used the 34 bus to get into the city and caught a boat back one evening. All transport free for those over 65, but remember to carry your passport or a photocopy with you to prove this and your EU membership, otherwise jobsworth staff will insist on fining you. I paid my bus, train and boat fares as I'm so young (!), but the cost is minimal - the 45-60 minute boat trip back cost 750 HF. This would not have been my hotel of choice on paper, but in reality it was delightful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and return.
Perfect location for city touring! Stunning view over the river and up to cathedral. There's a metro stop right outside, so you can connect to anywhere and everywhere! The facilities were great, though we didn't have time to make the most of them which was a shame. Staff were helpful. The room was a really good size, great for two friends who holiday with lots of stuff 😂 very much recommended for travel friends and couples.
I booked this after reading Tripadvisor reviews. I was on my motorcycle riding from Poland after work so arrived around 11pm Friday night. Staff were very nice , a couple of cold beers and off to sleep on a comfortable bed. They put me in a room away from the river as there were weddings on both Friday and Saturday. It was noisy but not unpleasant. It was easy to find the area as I was riding and this was on my approach side from Slovakia. Some good little restaurants and bars close by on the next corner as well as public transport. I walked down to the river at the "bar intersection" North of the hotel to find a little mobile bar area with some music and beers. Nice afternoon but a few mosquitoes around sunset. (normal anywhere). I would stay here again.
