Beautiful old hotel in the heart of busy and stunning Bruges. Classic decor but very cool also. Breakfast good and all round recommended. Nice simple sauna and steam room in the spa in the cellar free to guests also. Limited parking available for a charge but it's worth it as there's no where else to park!
The entrance hall sets the tone - the high ceilings of a grand house. That continues in other public areas like the bar and breakfast room. Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Our third floor rooms were reasonably comfortable. That floor is in the roof space with exposed beams and sloping ceilings. Our bathroom was set into the eaves, so you couldn't stand up to use the shower. Overall, a good base to explore the old city centre and a haven after a busy day.
Stayed here for three nights at the end of November and cannot fault this hotel. Fast check in and a lovely room although air con didn’t seem to work so room was very warm. Ideal location to see all the sights Bruges has to offer and would certainly return to this hotel if visiting the area again.
Very nice and clean hotel. Great location only short walk from the Market Square. We had standard room but it was really spacious and it had a big bathroom. Good, rich breakfast. We stayed in the hotel in December and a the room was quite cold compared to other hotel areas so we had to warm it up what made the air in the room very dry. The bathroom was even colder, I guess it was because of the drafty windows. Also, the shower head was already a bit used and it did not work properly from time to time.
We absolutely loved our stay in this gorgeous hotel. The building is beautiful, staff are helpful, polite and courteous and the rooms are spacious and comfy. Excellent breakfast and loved the sauna and steam room. The location is absolutely perfect, would definitely recommend and definitely come back, thank you!
The hotel is situated in a great part of town only 5mins walk from the clock tower. The hotel is welcoming and nicely decorated. The Christmas decorations were beautiful. Reception Staff were helpful in their recommendations. The room had a high ceiling and was quite spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. The double bed looked like it was two singles pushed together, pillows were uncomfortable and we had two single duvet covers. The bathroom had a bath and shower. There was also a hairdryer. Breakfast had a selection of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, meat and cheese, Danish pastries, breads, boiled eggs, scrambled, bacon, sausage, beans, mushroom. The scrambled egg did not look very appealing. I would stay there again it was a pleasant experience.
Our first trip to Bruges was made by a relaxing stay at a lovely, quaint hotel with attentive and friendly staff. The staff made us feel very welcome and were extremely prompt and efficient at dealing with any queries we had (including arranging little extras in our room for a birthday surprise). The hotel is situated in a perfect and quiet location; just a couple of minutes walk from the main square and you can easily reach most of the main attractions in under a 10 minute walk. A taxi is roughly 8 Euros from Bruges train station or the bus is approximately 3 Euros; both about a 10-15 minute journey away. The hotel supplies a varied and plentiful array of food in a beautiful breakfast room. Our bedroom was located a the back of the hotel, where you had to walk outside and via the car park. It did make us feel like we were going out to the stables, especially in the freeing weather! I would have preferred to be staying in the main hotel, as we felt a bit distanced! However, the overall trip was excellent and we will certainly be returning.
Very good quality hotel, excellent service and attentive staff, free wifi was excellent in our room as well. Breakfast good and plentiful with a wide choice, no real downside to this hotel which is situated very close to the city centre. This is an old building in old Bruges so don’t expect an ultra modern hotel, what you have is a charming building with old world charm mixed with style, very high ceilings and some of the downsides an old building brings with it’s charm. All that said a fantastic REAL hotel that’s located next to the centre of town. Very highly recommended. Hotel has very limited parking but cheap parking is a short walk away and cheap by Bruges standards.
We visited this hotel very recently, and I have mixed reviews regarding this. Firstly my biggest gripe. We arrived at this hotel mid afternoon, we dropped our bags off and thought we would venture out to get a late lunch. On arriving back to the hotel, bearing in mind we had only just arrived, I tried to find the hotel room which I eventually found, I met my friend at the hotel bar and we had a drink before we went out and viewed the sites of Bruges. On finishing the drink, we decided to have one more glass of champagne before we went out, only for the bar staff to say that a blonde member of staff in her mid forties ish, had advised not to serve me anymore, as I looked confused in looking for my hotel room. With this not surprisingly me and my friend decided to leave the hotel and go out for the night, and not spend another euro whilst we were there for the 4 days of staying. Based on the above comments, I not sure I know of any person who has visited a new hotel and on first appearance knows exactly where things are and where there hotel room is without having a look around. so surely people have the right to look around to remember where exactly thier room is. I am not sure if the said women had a bad day at work or was just thinking that everyone knew the hotel as well as she did, but because of this incident they lost 4 days worth of money for breakfast, dinner, or at the bar and later on that night we had a couple of drinks at the Jan Brito and thier service towards us was first class. The night porter at oud Huis De Peelaert was very nice and polite to us on all times we came back to the hotel late, and the beds were lovely it was actually hard to get up and out some days. Moral of the story is, the hotel is a nice place to stay, however if you are going to receive a welcome like we did, then it puts you off ever going back. For all you fellow city break goers, if you book this hotel, make sure you know this hotel inside and out before you turn up otherwise you will receive the same treatment as we did. Not going back.
This hotel is ideally suited near the centre of Bruges. Staff friendly and helpful with recommendations. will secure bookings for you at restaurants. Enjoyed our stay that much that we are already planning next years stay.
