This place was so/so. It has been remodeled. But there is certain type of ppl that lurk by. Great location for fast food and movies. Very convenient. The atmosphere needs to change a little. I would recommend for on the budget type of stays.
Rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly.if you are in the Harlingen area for vacations or business trip, this is the place to stay. Prices are very reasonable too. Breakfast ok, the location is good. There is restaurants very close to the hotel
Rooms were clean but outdated. Beds were okay and slept well. No coffee pot in the room. Breakfast was cold cereal or pastries with institutional coffee out of a machine. Good thing Whatabuger and Starbucks are across the street.
Clean, recently painted room. Comfortable bed. Soap and shampoo dispenser in the tub-shower. Nice flat screen TV, small fridge, even a microwave that all work! A pleasant surprise for the price. Nice table and chairs to sit at for dinner. Even an easy chair. Great food places, pharmacy and grocery store nearby. Plenty of parking. Clean pool and hot-tub, just wish we had brought our suits! Very friendly and helpful staff.
I was in town visiting my son who attends the Marine Military academy in Harlingen, this place was great for the price, room is clean, nice neutral smell, no chemical smell air conditioner is loudish, but I still slept, bed not real comfortable, but still slept fine. staff was friendly.
Came late at night looking for a room. Requested for a room near the office as I had already parked close by and had luggage. The clerk just wanted me to sign the agreement without reading. Kept repeating "sign here" "sign here". Irritated at her behavior I asked here to hold on. That upset her even further. When I called her to say that my room, a long way from the office, has a smoking sign even though I had requested a non-smoking room, she started getting abusive. Had an experience that I would like to forget. I got woken up early next morning because of somebody putting the TV loudly and keeping the door open. But knowing that I had this rude clerk, I did not bother to call. The manager or the owner that I met to recount my experience was much more professional.
I have been visiting this hotel for over 2yrs.I stay here when I visit to go across to Progresso,Mexico. The location is perfect right across from a Chilis,Applebees,Whataburger are right across from Hotel.A Buffalo Wild wings a block over. Walgreens is right across the street, you can walk literally..did I mention the movie theater. The rooms are clean the only problem is not enough towels,I take more than one shower a day!In my opinion better than a motel 6. Cheers
I own rental property in La Feria, and in Guatemala, and am frequently in the area on business. At times, Jay, the owner, has gone out of his way to help me, but, more recently, the service has not been so good. I stayed at La Copa for ten days in November and December of 2013. The only problem I had was that the electricity kept going out. I think that was beyond the owner's control. He gave me a ride to La Feria on December 3 and to the bus station the following day, when I was headed to Guatemala. The problems started when I returned from Guatemala on February 21. My bus arrived before noon and I went to La Copa to ask for a room that night. The desk clerk said that I would have to pay for the entire day that was just ending. I said that I didn't need to be in the room before noon, but could she please hold my luggage for an hour while I got lunch. She said no, not unless I pay for two nights. I went next door to Su Casa, where I paid less and got better service. I don't think that holding a guest's luggage for an hour or two is an unreasonable thing to ask. By not doing this they lost three weeks of income to another property and any business I might have given them in the future.
It was a nice place to stay, it was cheap, but the hotel is a little old, but I saw that they were working with the remodelation of some rooms. - We stayed for 2 nights, the second day cleaning in the room was not a good job.
Most hotels around the area are adjacent to La Copa Inn, but lack certain functions for a single family. I needed a microwave and micro-fridge for my one night stay. All I had found were overpriced hotels WITHOUT those amenities, until I found this hotel. For the low price, I had it all. A working A/C, hot water, clean room, microwave, fridge, pool access until 9pm. There was free breakfast till 10 AM, but I wouldn't need to service that. The WI-FI connection was amazing! I didn't have any problems with it. The bed was old school hard springs - but it was within shelter so I didn't mind it for the night. We had extended cable, and the front desk had security cameras overlooking different sections of the hotel. I did feel safe, although I was afraid of the type of people I would come across in Harlingen on a Saturday night. But, all the disturbances I heard were girls giggling and kids playing outside. Overall, I had a good experience. It was different than I am used to staying in, but I will admit, it was a great choice to what I could have wasted money on at another hotel.
