We enjoyed how quiet it was at Long Bay. Our room was spacious and our view was awesome! The bed was perfect for my husband who prefers a firmer mattress. The pool is small- but thhe beach is lovely. We ate Sunday brunch at Long Bay and our meal was good, though pricey. We rented a car so we ate our other meals off site. (And there are some good places close by: The Sugar Mill was our splurge, and Bananakeets for a fabulous Sunset!!) The shower in our room had great pressure and plenty of hot water! The TV in the room carries any channel you need. We are usually on a boat when in the Islands, but we would definitley go back to Long Bay again!

The Long Bay provides old colonial charm by the ocean on the West end of Tortola. The beach is lovely, the water turquoise, the cabanas are 15 feet off the beach and super functional. Beds are hard but the staff will pad it for you. Hammocks on every cabana, sun loungers on the beach, you don't need much more. Only 1 restaurant onsite, food is good but pricey for dinner. Make lunch your big meal if short on cash. Not much else in amenities, and the nearest convenience store is a cab ride away. They gouge you on transport but you can also ask locals for rides which is common - Tortola locals are amazing! If looking for complete relaxation and beauty - this is your spot.

Very disappointed in the hotel. The pictures on their website don't represent the true hotel. It's very run down and small. Amenities are next to none. Pool is the size of a bath tub. Beds are hard, Internet weak and most times not available. Rooms haven't had any upgrades! Lighting poor for applying makeup or basically even seeing. Overall would never recommend this hotel to anyone I know.

My wife and I tagged on two extra nights to a business trip I took. The resort was beautiful and nestled on the north slope of the island looking out on the blue waters. The pool and tennis courts were in great shape. We arrived early and were sitting in the bar area (which didn't open until evening). The owner walked by, although we didn't know who he was. After chatting a bit, he offered to upgrade our room to one of the ocean front villas. Our balcony had a view of the beach. We were 25 feet from the water and took nice walks along the beach.

This was a great place to stay on Tortola. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Stay in cabana number 407 and it is the very best view and closest to the ocean.

The room was great! The beach was perfect, on the small side but private and clean. The staff was friendly when we checked in but some of the waitresses have a attitude that they rather be somewhere else if you eat there. You will pay on the high end for your room but it was well worth it (beachfront deluxe).

The service here was great, from checking in to leaving, never any issues with the staff. This was low season, so might have been easier as no one was pushing anywhere to get first at this or that. This still needs something more to get that real resort feeling.

My husband and I just returned from 8 days at this resort. Overall we had a great time, but a few little problems did come up. The good stuff: The rooms were beatiful and clean. The views were spectacular. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Grounds could have used a little work but were still lovely. The pool was clean and relaxing except they did allow private parties to use the pool area. We had a 6 year olds birthday celebration on the weekend including lots of screaming little girls and a pinata. The not so good stuff: I am a 63 year old large women. Never was it mentioned that to get to our room we would have to walk up two STEEP drives and 94 (yes 94) steps. After two or three trips a day it became a problem. Also, although we enjoyed the surf, I don't believe this is a place where I would bring children. The surf was very rough with a strong undertow. The beach was nice, but the reef was only a few feet out and would cause cuts ans scratches. We found it hard to stand up when we were only up to our knees. The other not so good was the food. We found the wait staff at the restaurant to be unfriendly and at times rude. The prices were also outragous. Pasta night, a biweekly event, SMALL plate of spagetti with red sauce, no protien, no salad, no drink, $20.00. Service was slow, and everything we had there was just OK. I would recommend this resort to couples and families with older children. But eat in town!

We wanted to spend a few more days after our sailing charter: just to chill and take in the landlubber views and experiences. This resort was just about perfect for us. If you love to walk along the beach, if you love long-sweeping views of mountains, islands and ocean, this is the place. The deluxe hillside room with a king bed,a refrig and the coffeemaker was all we needed to keep the wine chilled and the coffee hot. Also, there is always the large pool area: it was never crowded, and it was heated just right and clean.

i stayed at long bay beach resort again this year. for the island of tortola, i can't find a better hotel for such a reasonable price. the beach is absolutely stunning - a mile long stretch of perfect white sand and azure seas. the resort has many amenities not available in other places on the island - a nearly olympic size pool (with a swim up bar), a work-out room, wifi as well as a computer room. the views from my beach cabana were stellar - i was "on the beach" . breakfast in the gazebo on the beach is also a wonderful experience. the staff is very helpful. the resort may lack some little things available in other hotels on the mainland, but it had everything i needed for a fantastic experience..

We had a beach front cabana which is literally on the beach. It offered an unbeatable view of the very clean and mostly empty beach. The cabana itself was also kept very clean and had everything to make us feel comfortable. It could use some touching up of the bathroom which shows signs of age, though.

Highlights: nice rooms, beautiful grounds, helpful staff. Detractions: unable to swim at beach, beautiful pool too shallow for swimming, uneven service/dining at on-site restaurant (1748)

We just got back a week ago and found it to be lovely to vacation without all the people. Long Bay was quite nice however they really need to replace the mattresses, ours was as hard as a rock. Rest of the room (ocean side villa) was quite acceptable. You don't want to but anything from them though, prices are very high for chips, sodas ect. be sure to select the room which includes breakfast and dinner that is a great value at least this time of year. Don't really know that it cost us anymore but it saved us at least 100.00 a day for the meals....food pretty good restaurant location on the beach can't be beat!!

The resort staff were very friendly and accomodating, not to mention extremely helpful. The room was nice-clean and spaious. The best part was the view, which was breathtaking- we overlooked the ocean, as many of the other rooms do. The beach was close to the resort, clean, and relaxing.

We had a large, very nice room with a fabulous view of the ocean. Very relaxing place to stay, with its beautiful pool, long clean beach, decent workout room and spa. Staff was very helpful. Main restaurant was right on the ocean, so very romantic. Food did not "wow" us. But, very conveniently located.

We stayed a few days at the Long Bay Beach resort after completing ASA certification for chartering a sailboat. It was a delightful trip that was enhanced by the generally cooperative and helpful attitude that was displayed by the staff. I was, however, a bit disappointed in some aspects of the trip, especially when evaluated on a cost-benefit model. This is an expensive resort; I expect top class service and accommodations for that price. While it is difficult to point too hard at any specific issues -- certainly the sand paper grade toilet paper did not help my disposition -- I had a lingering feeling that management is failing to invest in basic maintenance and upgrades for this property -- upgrades that I expect given the $$ paid for the experience. I suspect that they (management) are trying to suck as much profit out of the place while investing minimally -- all the time putting the onus on the staff to "smile nice and ensure a positive customer experience." The staff certainly tries, but there is only so much that they can do. I'm not sure I would go again at the price that I paid.

Overall this is a lovely hotel and the staff is wonderful for the most part - unfortunately service was hit or miss. They were either wonderful or very aloof, no in between. The beach was beautiful, but only two areas on either end were okay for swimming, the rest was too rocky. There were many, many stairs between levels, which made it difficult to get around if you have any sort of mobility issue. Ice and soda only available at the front desk area, so if you needed any at night, it was a long trek down all those stairs. Grocery store was not very well stocked. The food was good, and the pelican pool bar was nice. Overall a nice vacation and I would go back again.

This was our first trip to Tortola so we used friend's recommendations to stay at Long Bay. It is a very pretty resort with nice rooms, based on ours and what others there said. The staff is very attentive and responded to all requests. Its location puts it close to several good restaurants. The dining room at the facility is no more expensive than the nearby restaurants (all are pricy for a full meal). The drawbacks were the rocks in the water at the beach. You have to go to the extreme ends on either side which is not owned by the resort. The west end of the beach has a very native beach bar with a great host. The parking is very limited and you have to beware of the rock walls that make the roadways very narrow and can cause damage to a rental car as we found out, and you do need one because of the location. If we go back to Tortola we will very likely stay at Long Bay again.

There was nothing to do so I spent my entire time in the BVI going to other resorts and restaurants.

Location on the beach was great....Not too many people and plenty of super scenery....People there were very helpful and accommodating.....grounds were well maintained Only suggestion, as to the 1748 restaurant, would be to make every evening meal casual dress, serve only local dishes and seafood and do away with the "Pasta" Nights and the elegant casual dress code. We will definitely go back and will stay at the Long Bay Beach Resort....
