I made a tentative booking but as things worked out, I could not proceed with it and so I cancelled the booking weeks before the cancellation cut off date. I was totally surprised when I discovered that the reservation had not been cancelled and I was charged the full fee. I disputed the matter with management, but even though it was their error, it took me 5 whole days of chasing them up to refund the money they had taken. This was such a stressful time that put me under some financial pressure because I could not access those funds whilst I was holiday inn elsewhere...AND Cliff House management were not very helpful at all! I was made to feel like it was my responsibility to sort it out with the bank! I could have done without this hassle. It was totally avoidable but caused by significant poor management and poor communication on their part. I would not recommend Cliff House as an accommodation preference - not without proof of significant improvement in their performance.
