Found this hotel handy location for south bank activities and shopping. Also very near Roma train and bus location. Did find though it was a bit noisey because of the trains. Recommend to inquire if your room backs onto the lifts as this added additional room noise. Other wise our stay was satisfactory
If arriving in Brisbane by train, this four-star hotel couldn't be more convenient. It's situated so close to Roma Street Rail Station that it takes only a few minutes from train to hotel check-in counter where friendly staff handled our reservation efficiently. Rooms are exceedingly pleasant with all the usual amenities. The downside are the rooms to the front of the hotel where it can sometimes be noisy thanks to the popular pub opposite with its music and revellers. Rooms overlooking Roma Street station are affected by the sound of passing trains, but this is not too much of a problem. I suggest earplugs for anyone who is a light sleeper. Buffet breakfasts are fabulous and I highly recommend them. The DIY fresh fruit drinks from its juicing machine are great ... as is the DIY expresso coffee from the machine (among the best I've tasted at a breakfast buffet). We enjoyed our reasonably-priced pre-dinner drinks at the very pleasant ground-floor bar. I reckon that for the price and location near the city centre, this hotel takes some beating.
THE GOOD: Very clean spacious room. Comfy bed with quality bedding and towels.Good Shower and toiletries (however only one toothbrush for double room).Very convenient location for Train and close to city centre. Free wifi. Takeaway coffee cups a nice touch. Room Safe in Cupboard. Complimentary water. Bottle shop next door. THE BAD: A very regimented and unfriendly Check in. OVERALL: Good Hotel but first impressions are important. We stay in a lot of Hotels and it makes a stay more memorable and pleasant with nice Staff.

Nest Restaurant lunch Asian awesome prawn n crab rice noodle salad yummo n Aus for the ole boy Steak Sandwich... luved the juicer at brekky... Good facilities in room wouldn't mind a little microwave tho... comfortable n quite...
Hotel Jen weren't off to a great start when they didn't believe that breakfast and a late check out were included in my room rate. I had to produce my email confirmation for them to believe me. The response was "we don't know what they do upstairs". The late checkout was for 4pm "subject to availability". I was told that 2pm was the latest they could give me and 4pm check out "didn't happen". They had never heard of 4pm checkout. The rooms seemed to have been recently refurbished and were nice, however the bathroom was not great. There was black mould in the grout all around the bath and a rusty toilet brish holder. Only one piece of soap was provided, making for an annoying switch between bath and basin. The bath plug provided was too small, so the bath never completely filled, and when the water stopped it started to empty immediately. Tv picture quality was very poor, it felt like we were back in the analogue age. Breakfast on site was good. Great spot next to train station. Not a horrible experience, but I expected more from a Shangri-La owned hotel.
The location near the Roma Street train station is very convenient to go anywhere quickly by catching public transport. The train is also accessible to go to the airport quickly. But, the cleanliness is very poor. Furniture was old and machines like coffee machine and fridge were dirty. Room service was poor. There was a door between two rooms and hence privacy was not good. Location is the only reason to stay in this hotel over other hotels.
Stayed at the Hotel Jen for 3 days during business trip in Brisbane. I had never stayed before however a friend recommended the hotel. I booked an executive room which was extremely spacious, the room was clean and tidy and although the hotel is a little old it was definitely value for money. The breakfast and dinner was what I would rate better than some of the higher end places in Brisbane. The staff were very helpful and overall I could not fault the stay with the additional benefit of being next to Roma street rail station means the location is excellent. My measurement is will I stay there again and the answer is yes.
Hotel Jen was clean and comfortable, nice linen and room details were provided as well as personalized welcoming card and in the booked packaged was wine and fruit on arrival. There were no issues with the booking or the check inn times. Our booking had free parking and this was fantastic and well organised, the car was secure on level parking for the duration of the stay. The best thing was the view from the corner room of the city and the buffet breakfast. The breakfast was very healthy, with cooked to order eggs, juice bar, coffee bar, fruit platters and traditional hot food options. It was a very nice space to eat breakfast, although they seem to provide everything except for a low gluten or gluten free bread in the selection (perhaps due to cross contamination) but low gluten or other bread options would have been great to see. Overall it was a good place to stay. There was an incident where the fire alarm sounded and the hotel was evacuated around 6am there was no explanation of this event, everyone was just standing around outside in the early morning unsure of what to do, after around 45 mins you could go back inside, on check out nothing was mentioned, I did not feel this was well managed. Aside from this confusion, I would stay here again.
The rooms were more than adequate being exceptionally large , with our room having 2 queen sized beds . They were wonderfully comfortable, we slept like a log , good considering this is a central city location, and any noise was not an issue. beautifully clean bathroom, more than big enough with a few free toiletries thrown in . Parking although a little expensive at $35 is adjacent to the hotel, but given the central location , its likely the going rate . would stay again .
Stayed here as it is right beside Roma Street Railway Station. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Very handy that they have a food court downstairs in the station. You can also walk to Suncorp stadium for the football.
