Other than a broken toilet paper holder and a couple water marks on the bedside table, the room was in very good condition. The view was super! We would have felt safer if there had been an extra lock on the door, as many hotel/motel rooms have.
Super friendly staff who even brushed the snow off cars in the morning . The rooms all have an incredible view of the bay.

We stayed here on our honeymoon 54 years ago. We enjoyed our stay. It has a beautiful view of the bay. Nice decor, and very clean. The manager was very friendly and helpful.

Staff was difficult and testy. If you want coffee you need to pick it up in office along with the cups and carry them up the stairs along with your suitcases. No second trip allow.. No soap or shampoo provided. Lights and hairdryer did not work. Old but serviceable room. Felt like you were back 50 years. No respect for protecting your information.
I wanted to right this review because the Bay Inn of Petoskey EXCEEDED my expectations. The room was clean and comfortable. No great shakes but I put value on simple elegance. Clean, great location, and a view worth a million bucks overlooking Little Traverse Bay. Vern & Shirley helped us with a small (but important) favor that reminded me of the days where the owners were always there to help if you needed it. In contrast, the corporate versions of an "inn" are a joke in comparison to Vern & Shirley's place. Highly recommended. 5 Stars.
Just off the beaten path and very clean and quiet. Very friendly and COMPETENT staff. Wonderful hotel that I'd love to visit again!
We wanted to be near Petoskey for dinner at Chandler's and to visit the town. The Inn is just outside town. The balcony outside the room has a great view of the bay.

The view was splendid, across a busy street from the Bay. Lots of traffic noise and bright lights outside the window/door. It was so bright in the room that it was difficult to sleep. If you like a dark, quiet room to sleep in, this place is not for you. Furnishings clean, but old.
Everything about this hotel is great! The room service was nice, the owners were great and the rooms themselves were wonderful. Only "bad" thing is when US-31 gets busy it can be a pain to turn into and out of. This is a fantastic place for the price!
As long as this motel remains very cheap, compared to other hotels in the area, I recommend it. It is no frills, but has a good location, comfortable rooms, and is reasonably priced.
No heat, and no breakfast was available. The hotel put up a sign at 8am that said be back at 9am. No breakfast at all. Rooms were clean, but not having heat in Northern Michigan after driving 4 hours in a total whiteout of snow was unacceptable. Called hotel right after checkout in the morning, the owner did not offer any compensation. All that was said "call us before you come again and we'll make sure the heat works". There will not be a next time. Thank you!
