The facility is well maintained. The room is charmingly decorated but is very small. The garden is very big and relaxing. There is a pool but very very small. It's not for swimming. In the hotel itself, there is nothing to do. The wifi is very weak so at the terrace, it's no good. It's a good base to visit Bordeaux. though. Personally, I reckon there are other accommodations more value for price.
Location a bit odd -entrance just off busy congested road. We nearly turned around and left but glad we didn't. The back garden of the property pleasant and quite small. Pond with swans and ducks coming and going. We had a room overlooking the front garden area/driveway. Room quite small but pleasant. Wardrobe space quite limited (freestanding wooden wardrobe) Ok for 1 or 2 nights. Evening dinner was superb out on the terrace. Exceptional chef - would highly recommend. Staff helpful. We booked this intending to travel in to Bordeaux by tram but personal circumstances meant we had to shorten our stay.
The stay at this particular chateau has been the most memorable one that I could think of in recent times. The hospitable ambience which we enjoyed is a true testament of French culture and has earned commendable appreciation from each and every member of my family. I would highly recommend this place to any traveller looking for the finest experience to stay and dine in Bordeaux. Given an opportunity, I would like to make this place my second home. Thank you, team of Pavillon du Chateau Raba to making my holiday the best and you guys really deserve a standing round of applause for the hospitality extended to us. A special appreciation to Miss Olena in helping me find my lost phone and sending the same to me back in Dubai.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary for an exceptional lunch outdoors. The menu is very well priced (I want to say cheap given the culinary talent involved). We would have gladly paid three times more, to give you an idea of how fantastic the presentation and execution was. If you want an explosion of flavors, this is a hidden gem not to be missed if you visit Bordeaux and its region. No need to travel hours away for a michellin level experience!
La Reserve is a lovely estate property with an excellent restaurant and chef and very attractive outdoors ground. There is also a pool and small spa. The chateau and rooms are very nice. The main limitation is that it is located about 15-20' outside of the center of Bordeaux, so you have to drive on the highway to spend time downtown. The staff were very accommodating to us.
A beautiful chateau about a 20-minute drive from the city centre. We spent one night here and were surprised by the chateau’s location – it’s in the back of an industrial estate! But the grounds and property itself are stunning. It does smell quite old in there and there was a lot of dust in our room around the kettle/tea area – I guess they hadn’t been used in quite some time. The room itself was very comfortable with a great shower. We didn’t eat at the hotel’s restaurant but the food going out looked great. We asked the hotel to book us a taxi into Bordeaux centre – it cost 50euros! Complete rip off! The one we flagged in town to take us back to the hotel cost just 15euros – so be careful!
Definitively not a typical "chain-hotel" , amateurs of restaured old houses may love it. Very close to the airport, in a rather industrial/scholar part of great Bordeaux where a taxi drive to the center of Bordeaux will cost you approx. 45€. Around the big house there is a nice garden with a beautifull terrace. Rooms are OK, nothing special. Breakfast is basic. Impressive regional wine card. Also menu was attractive, small card but very promisingfull ... but unfortunately we had no time to test it. We perceived it as slightly overpriced for this region. So I would not come back excepted as a hotel etappe in summer.
Hotel has good location for airport and ring road. Not good for town centre : buses are erratic and tram stop is about 15 mins walk. Outdoor facilities are awful : pool is tiny and mostly indoors . Pond is dirty with Swans etc in a tiny area. Don't believe the professional photos ! Can't comment on dinner : we were blocked on two nights by a wedding which largely took over the hotel. Service is very limited and poor. Our room was terrible and on main corridor between kitchen and dining room. Forget the "charm" in the marketing . this hotel doesn't meet the most basic tests and is overpriced.
A perfect base to explore The Bordeaux area. Talence is a 20 minute tram ride to Bordeaux center, and very easily accessible to airport. While Talence itself is unremarkable, this hotel and restaurant is incredibly special. The staff was warm and very accommodating. The hotel and grounds peaceful and lovely. The dinner was one of the best we have ever had anywhere.
I was in Bordeaux for one night and stayed at the La Reserve. I did not have dinner there, only breakfast. Breakfast is cold stuff only (you can make yourself a boiled egg) and the quality of the food is excellent. Very good coffee, different types of preserves, cheese, and cold cuts. Of course you get yoghurt and other healthy stuff as well. The rooms are great: large, elegant, comfy beds, nice views, and quiet. Super bathroom with top of the pop soaps etc. La Reserve is full of profs from the business school across the road. Talence is not worth seeing but if you have a car you are on the ring road in two minutes and can take it from there... I was checked in by Philippe and it took him one minute and then he showed me the breakfast room and my own room. Very professional, very welcoming.
