UNA Hotel Bologna

Hotel was clean and tidy throughout, the staff pleasant and attempted to help with any queries. The breakfast buffet was fresh each day and like most Italian buffets adequate for any needs. Our only issue was that our 6th floor room (606) was over hot and we happened to be too early for the hotel to be allowed to turn the a/c on (local govt ruling to observe environmental protection). Great location opposite the train station and about a 15 minute easy walk to the town centre.

Modern hotel in the center of Bologna - just opposite the railway station. Nice staff (especially during breakfast). Big variety of food available on breakfast (including gluten free products). If you miss any of sanitary items you may ask in the reception for them. Spacious rooms. What I was missing is small fridge and iron. I was told that irons are not allowed due to law regulations.

Conveniently located just outside of Bologna Centrale station, Una is modern, clean and well maintained. If you’re grasp of Italian is better than mine, then you’d do well to exit on the South side of the station (on to Strada Statale Porrettana), since the hotel is over this way. If, like me, you find yourself on the other side of the tracks, then it’s only a ten-minute walk away - over Via Giacomo Matteotti. The hotel itself looks like it was imagined at a time when people thought that Tron was a premonition of the future – there’s lots of stainless steel and neon lighting, which can hide some of the subtly located signage (like the ones on the toilet doors in the lobby), it’s décor isn’t garish to the point of being tacky, but a countrified B&B this isn’t. The rooms themselves continue with the futuristic theme, with little bedside control boxes operating all the lighting and air conditioning (when it’s permitted to be on during the Summer months). The bathroom is spacious and well equipped, and includes a bath as well as a shower. Alas, I move on to the negatives… if there’s one thing I pray for when I check in to any hotel room it’s a decent thermostat on the shower – it’s bad enough when a 1mm turn of the faucet can mean the difference between third degree burns and frostbite, but this shower decided to alternate between the two extremes - even when I left it alone for a few minutes... in the end I gave up and ran a bath instead. Also, the room was very hot – I appreciate that there are city-wide regulations on the seasonal use of air conditioning, but it almost felt like the heating was on it was so warm – a reasonable temperature was achieved by cranking the window wide open and sleeping on top of the sheets. I’ll finish on a high – the buffet breakfast was well stocked, varied and everything seemed fresh. If you’re after a convenient and well-located pit stop, then you could do much worse than resting here for a night or two.

We spent 4 days at this hotel and really liked it. It is located just across the Bologna train station and 15 mins walk away from Piazza Maggiore. All of the staff we met was really friendly but especially the personnel at the breakfast saloon. They welcomed us every morning with a smiling face and really worked hard to ensure that people were satisfied. The breakfast is good too. The rooms are nicely designed and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom was spotless clean and modern. They have a pillow menu which is nice but i had to try twice to find a good pillow as they are too soft and thin. We really liked staying at Una Hotel Bologna& even recommended it to our friends. We will definitely stay here again! One little note; The Wi-Fi can be better...

For tourists interested in travelling by train it can be an advantage but I find it rather far from city center as it requires good walking condition and enough time to spend. The rooms are large and quiet, cleaning service is good but the bed and especially the hard, flat pillows are a big minus.Breakfast meals are monotonous and also quality could be better.I expected much better for the price.

We stayed at the hotel for one night to visit the city. It is quite new and the room was perfect, large and clean as the bathroom with a bathtube. It is opposite to the station but not noisy. The city centre is about 15 minutes walking but it is good to see the shopping street to reach it. The breakfast was very rich and tasty with a great variety of fruit and all that an international breakfast usually includes. The staff was professional and kind. Negative: i asked for a special pillow but they didn't attend my request because the lack of it.

By Italian standards this is one of the better hotels. The rooms are generously sized and well equipped. There seem to be different color themes for each room, all very funky such as light blue, green or red. The location is across the street from the train station and still in walking distance to all sights and shopping. The breakfast buffet is ok, the service not so. Unfortunately this hotel keeps in trend with most newlyopened or renovated hotels in using laminate flooring instead of carpets. Though it might be more hygenic it is certainly less sound absorbing. My night was over at 9am when houskeeping started their activities above and around my room. The sound of the vacuum cleaner scrubbing over the floor was not only noticeable through the walls but also through the airconditioning duct.

The hotel is modern, new, clean. Rooms are reasonably big and bathrooms are nice. However, the hotel has got the absolute core basics of a good hotel wrong - beds are like blocks of concrete, room temperatures were set to 24 degrees which is far too hot, and pillows were flat as a pancake - hardly worth having. They do seem to offer a 'pillow library', but who wants to call and wait for reception to bring you pillows, especially when you arrive late at night? Why not offer good ones to begin with? Me and my colleagues all woke with sore necks, backs and puffy eyes from lack of sleep. Breakfast selection was pretty poor - not really any fresh hot options, just pastries, yoghurt. Tea was a teabag with self poured 'hot' water from a canister that was actually lukewarm - we couldn't drink it. Could be an awful lot better if they fixed these basic errors!

Staff is helpful and nice. Just across the street frım the central station. 30 minutes away from the city center on foot. Car park is available with a reasonable price. Well decorated and spacioıs roon wirh emenities customers need. Cafes and restaurants nearby. Breakfast can be better.

Clean, spacious, modern rooms with an outstanding breakfast included. Friendly and helpful staff. Across the street from the train station - 10 minute walk to main plaza. We would definitely stay here again!
