The Hotel is right in the center, all major attracions to be reached in walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff all over, at reception desk, breakfast and housekeeping. Rooms are not huge but very well furnished and cosy as well as very clean. Smokers can ask for rooms with a small balcony. Nice place to be, higly recommendable!
Brilliant location, gorgeous building, wonderful staff . Hotel completely in keeping with this wonderful city . In other words, wonderful. Loved the unlimited coffee made to order at breakfast. Big variety in the bruffet, which was perfectly fine rather than superb (seems a missed opportunity when a few metres away there are shops brimming with such high quality cheese, bread and cold meats). But a breakfast to die for is a pretty rare thing in a European city centre hotel outside of Scandinavia think. Our room wasn't large, but it was perfect and the bathroom was fab and well stocked - and who in their right mind would want to spend too much time in their room anyway in a place so overflowing with fantastic places to see and mooch around, restaurants, markets and bars.
The Hotel Corona d'Oro is a good, centrally located hotel. Our classic double room was comfortable and reasonably spacious. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was good [although some of the cakes were a little stale]. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of many of Bologna's attractions.
Quick trip to bologna on way to Rome and the rugby..more of a fact finding tour after seeing it and this hotel on Rick steins weekend getaways.. Well we were not dissapointed, excellent location amongst the old cobbled streets and no noise despite that... team at hotel could not have been friendlier...we will definitely be back
Found this hotel on TripAdvisor. The reality matched the write up. Top location to old city and best historical sites. Had a nice suite and although over the street was noiseless. Open bar in room and quick room service. Best of all was the great and friendly staff. They made us feel like their oldest and best customers. Would absolutely return and heartily recommend.
Nice small four star hotel right in the centre of Bologna and we booked a room with a view of the two towers. Room was traditionally furnished, very quiet and well maintained as was the large grey marble bathroom with a huge bath. Staff were very friendly and as there was only a small bar (no restaurant) the whole hotel was very quiet and relaxed - just what we like. Breakfast was included in the price of our room but if this isn't included you should just eat out as there are loads of coffee shops and restaurants in the centre of Bologna and the price of a coffee is generally only £1! We only had breakfast on the first morning (large choice but poor coffee - pity as you would expect everywhere in Italy to have really good coffee) and decided to wander round the back streets in Bologna for our morning coffee as there is a great atmosphere.
We lived in Bologna two decades ago while my husband was in grad school and we hadn’t been back to the city since! So choosing a hotel for our first re-visit had an added emotional component. Usually we stay in modern, boutiquey hotels, but we wanted to be in this part of town and are so happy to have booked the Corona D’Oro - it felt untouched by commercialism or trendiness and had an old-world charm in both beauty and service. Service here was exceptional across the board. We were able to book a last-minute transfer from the airport in a brand new, Mercedes van and upon arrival they upgraded all three couples in our group to beautiful deluxe rooms. Our room had an understated luxury that fit the vibe of via Oberdan and this little part of Bologna - solid, elegant and timeless. I was worried reading some reviews that said the rooms were dated. Ours definitely wasn’t - it was just more classic than hipster, and felt warm and comfortable, keeping in place with the location. Breakfast was a wide-ranging feast of sweet & savory options. Perfect location, lovely hotel and wonderful service!
Stayed in October 2017 for 4 nights beautiful hotel, bedrooms were lovely and staff very helpful. Breakfast excellent and set us up for our days sightseeing. Hotel is very central and we were able to walk everywhere. Highlight of the trip for my husband was driving a Ferrari!!! Would definitely recommend this hotel.
We only stayed one night so don't have a lot to say. The room was good - comfortable bed. It was nice that they provided a kettle and tea so obviously get a lot of UK tourists thanks to Rick Stein's stay there. Reception was friendly and efficient. All in all a nice place to stay while in Bologna
Don't want to repeat everything - but yes, location ideal, staff really lovely, room very nice. Don't expect a view - our room (110) looked out onto a tiny internal courtyard, as I suspect many do. But this made it utterly quiet, whilst being bang in centre of town. Be aware the breakfast room is in converted cellar, i.e. in basement - maybe in summer this would be a disadvantage I don't know - but in Jan it simply felt cosy! Tea-making stuff in room, bathrobes. But the thing that made you look forward to going back to the hotel, tired from sightseeing, was the uniformly lovely attitude of the staff. I would highly recommend it.
