An excellent location just off Piazza Maggiore, but in a quiet road. Quirky bedrooms, spotless and with all mod cons. Good, quiet air conditioning (needed in the heat-wave) with good choices for breakfast and comfortable twin beds. Lovely shower room, with bath robes provided. Hard to beat it on all scores.
This is an excellent Hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. It is quirky, our room was the Olivetti room - hence was decorated with typewriter ribbon, typewriters and there was a huge QWERTY keyboard on the ceiling. There are quotes everywhere (even in the wardrobes). However it is very tastefully done and the rooms are of an extremely high standard and are very comfortable. The Hotel is just off the main square, so very central to all of the shops and tourist attractions (as well as the local markets where the food and coffee is exceptional). It is also very quiet, so if all you want to do is sit down and relax, you can do that too. The staff were very helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. On one occasion we even found the maid on her hands and knees washing the bathroom floor by hand - not many establishments would have their people do that! Consequently our room was always beautifully clean. They have a restaurant, which we used for breakfast. Lovely buffet with lots of choice. Again, the staff were very friendly, courteous and attentive. Great Hotel if you want somewhere quiet, but central, luxurious and comfortable. It has a unique identity that has been really well done and the public areas are also well furnished an comfortable.
When we booked this hotel we didn't realize what a great location it was to be in. We could walk all over and were able to find what we needed. The rooms are quirky but it is a great place to stay. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We will be back!
Stayed last week, at the height of the heatwave. Thank goodness for the efficient air-conditioning! On the negative side, our twin room was rather small, and the number of hangers provided in the wardrobe was insufficient. However, the postives greatly outweigh the negatives. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We ate breakfast on one day in the hotel, and it was good value for money with plenty of choice. The location of the hotel was great, just round the corner from Piazza Maggiore and about a 20 minute walk to the railway station. Despite being so close to the main square, there was no external noise. All in all, a good find and I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Stayed here on a long weekend break with some friends. This hotel is definitely worth every penny/cent: staff are friendly, rooms are clean and very comfortable, loved the selection of teas and coffee. It's just round the corner from the main square which is ideal. The only disturbance we had was from some loud male tourists, and yes they were Brits! The breakfast buffet was varied and delicious too (even had soya milk). 'Wonderful hotel'
We spent five nights in an apartment we rented through Al Capello Rosso. We were in the Galleria Commerziale about a block from the hotel, which also opens onto Piazza Galileo. The facility is a first-floor (2nd story) studio - an open, bright room with a curtain wall to close off the bedroom, and a large bath. Windows open onto an open courtyard in the Galleria. We had everything we needed, including coffee for the Moka, an elevator and a safe. The location was perfect: close to the hotel for breakfast and services - restaurant recommendations were spot on - and close to Piazza Maggiore but far enough to be quiet. Our fellow traveler had an apartment across the building which was more traditional in layout but equally convenient. We would happily stay here again.
The selling point and reason for booking this hotel was the quirky rooms the show on line and the excitement of which one you might get. As we found out these are only one third of the rooms and of course we didn't get one. What we did get was apparently upgraded to a room in the roof space with only roof lights to see sky. I don't know what the room would have been if not upgraded! Breakfast extra at 10 Euro each was unlimited but the hot buffet of bacon scrambled eggs and pieces of sausage was very disappointing. Cereal fruit and cakes/ bread really good and set us up for the day. Hotel arranged pick up from airport at estimated 18 Euros which was 28 Euros in fact. Loved Bologna hotel a bit misleading and not overly friendly
Booked a superior double room. The room was an attic room which was spacious and had a large bathroom. The only issue was the only light came from a skylight, no windows or view. The staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke English. Breakfast was not included in room rate, but at a reasonable price the breakfast offered was very good with a large range of choices in hot and cold food. The location was great, only 2 minutes away from Piazza Maggiore but in a quite street. Close walking distance to all the significant sites. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would stay there again when I'm next in Bologna.
We stayed here on a 5-day trip and recommend it highly. Very professional staff;nothing too much trouble. The rooms are individually and artistically decorated and very well appointed. We did not try it, but the restaurant may be a good bet when city restaurants are closed. All in all an ideal base, and they have been going since the 14th century!
The hotel was located just next to Piazza Maggiore. The hotel is about two km. from Bologna Centrale. You can walk but if you have a luggage take a taxi which costs about 10 euros. The hotel is located just next to Piazza Maggiore. Our room was on the first floor. It was clean, comfortable and enough for two people. Room and bathroom amenities were also good enough. Breakfast was very good with assorted and quality food. All the people working for the hotel were halpful and friendly.
