Nice staff, the food was ok no more. Rooms vere clean and ok. The bad thing was the location. Dark walk home frome barstreet with some shady figures hanging out in the corners. could not let my company walk home alone at nights
I have just come back from a lovely week in gumbet, I have been going 2-3 times a year since 2010.i have stayed at many hotels, The Eken hotel is very clean, nice pool area, food is a bit repetitive but so is every hotel in gumbet. The manager is a nice fella, bar staff are cool. Thank you Eken for a nice holiday.
Turkey is suffering from the damage done by the recent worldwide attacks and I'm afraid this hotel is paying the price. We have been using the hotel for a number of years on our visits to turkey and this year has seen a deterioration. There were not many foreign visitors to the hotel and,as it was Ramadan very few Turkish and this showed in the amount of staff in the bar and restaurant. The rooms are still nice and very well serviced but the restaurant and bar were serviced by just 2 staff, abdullah and space who worked very hard. A 3rd staff was brought in towards the end of our stay in preparation for the end of Ramadan but the upstairs bar was closed and we usually sit up here of a night. The food was still well cooked but the quantity and selection was less. The breakfast was very basic where as before a chef would prepare fresh crepes and omelettes in front of you this was missing. To add insult to injury the owner and his wife entertained people in front of us and they feasted well, not a good idea! Hopefully tourists will begin to visit turkey before things get to bad for this hotel
Don't be fooled by their own description, this hotel is not "nestled on the beach". It is a short walk down a back alley lined with homeless people living in tents. The beach area is not associated with the hotel at all. Still close to shops, entertainment etc. Staff could be a bit "too friendly". I got a very runny tummy during my stay, and this was the only place I ate. My friend joined me for one night (one dinner and breakfast) and it was also the only time she got sick in Turkey. Sewage smell coming up from the pipes in the sink was awful. Still, rooms were a decent size and cleaned three times a week. The price was excellent, the drinks generous pours, but take diarrhea medicine. I had wifi in my room, but it was directly next to the lobby. I think there is no in-room wifi otherwise.
Great hotel for a good holiday, all very close - the beach, shops, entertainment. Persoonal sociable and always ready to help with any problems. The hotel has a Turkish bath - I advise you not regret it. The room was cleaned every day, towels changed as well.
Four of us have just returned from the Eken Resort Hotel. This was my first trip to Turkey, I was so pleased with it, I have booked to go again next year. The hotel is situated down a small street which at first puts you off, but don't let it. We arrived after midnight due to our plane being diverted, when we landed our transfer did not turn up, so we were very late. However, the hotel made every effort to accommodate us, they offered us food and drinks. We went to the roof terrace and sat in a lovely warm breeze drinking a cool beer, Perfect. Our room was very clean and comfortable, the air con worked! Each room has a balcony overlooking the garden, bathroom very clean. The food is good basic cooking, yes it is a bit repetitive, but for the money really can you complain? Breakfast - boiled eggs, pastry (usually with cheese inside), a guy makes toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches and on a Wednesday he comes to the swimming pool and makes cheese or meet omelettes. There is copious salad, cheese, meat, olives, all kinds of salad stuff. Cereal, yogurt, fruit and so on. Plenty of bread too along with jam. Then there is coffee, tea, cold drinks free all day long. Lunch consists of a several cooked options, southern fried chicken, salad, chips etc. Then from 1pm to 5pm they cook snacks on the roof terrace, baracs are popular, which are like a pancake filled with cheese - delicious. At 5pm round the pool is cake and biscuits. Dinner is at 7.30 and is usually chicken, fish, a stew, mashes potato/chips. Again plenty of salad and free beer, wine and cold drinks as well as coffee. Puddings are fruit, local cakes, rice pudding and yogurt. Now consider what you are paying and you have a very good deal. But what makes this Hotel is the staff. On Wednesday at 10am it started to rain, it continued to rain, and by rain I mean throw it down for 12hours or more. The staff continued to work to make sure patrons had food and drink. They worked upto their waist in water in the kitchen, some guys came to dig out the garden to help drain the water. All this time, the staff were cheerful, made sure you had everything you wanted and to make it beyond belief, dinner was still served at 7.30pm. No complaints, no moaning, just friendly happy service. The staff come to your table, fetch whatever you want, clear up for you and never a moan. The Manager of the Dining Room, Cadjet deserved a Gold Medal. The staff worked until well into the morning, not getting much sleep at all, but hey, they came back in the morning, smiling and serving people as if nothing was wrong. During all this, their sleeping quarters were flooded and they had no where to sleep -so come on, this goes beyond the line of duty. So to all the wonderful staff of Eken Resort, a heart felt thank you for your sterling work to make my holiday and everyone elses holiday such a success. I look forward to seeing you all again next year.
We went to this hotel for our 5th visit but we took friends on their first visit to Turkey and they loved it. The hotel is clean and has been brightened up by the inclusion of cushion floor in the bedrooms instead of carpets. The rooms are large by most standards and have a double bed and a single. The bathrooms have over bath showers, large sink and toilet. The food is standard Turkish all inclusive fayre but there is always something to eat, usually a mixture of kofte, kebab meat, chicken and fish. Lots of salad and veg. The food and beverage manager is called Gevdet and he is a very nice man who is easy to talk to and runs an excellent team of waiters and bar staff. They are clean cheerful and helpful. We enjoyed the place so much we are all going again next year. Whilst we were there the area had its worse storm for over 100 years and the rain was torrential for 15 hours solid, cars were floating down the road it was so bad but Gevdet and his team along with the rest of the hotel staff worked like Trojans to keep the place together. The kitchen staff still provided the meals on time, coped with the floods and kept the hotel running. The next day they looked so tired but still kept up a good a good front. They are to be highly commended.
Very nice hotel. Very friendly staff. Fantastic food! The location is awesome! We were there with a family, enjoyed everything regarding the fast check-in, service, delicious food and very good price. Wi-fi was ok, but only in a lobby area. We'll definitely go back there again. Nasiba
I went on holiday with my boyfriend to this hotel. We pretty much liked it. Its an all in. The food was always the same but for the price we payed we didn't expect more... The staff isn't overly friendly or rude. The part of the beach connected to this hotel isn't nice at all. The water is dark en the sand dirty. We always went further. But overall we had a good time.
