This is really a dreadful little place. Furnishings old and tired. Bathrooms new but cheaply done. No help with luggage. Staff couldn’t be bothered to answer questions or help. Be prepared to carry your own luggage up and down stairs.
We spent two nights at the mountain heritage last month. Being used to more modern hotels I was surprised at how much I enjoyed our stay at this charming hotel that honoured its heritage. It was like stepping back in time to a less stressful world. The decor suited the style but was not old and dated. Our room was a very good size with a very comfortable bed and large clean bathroom. Our room had a DVD player as well as a tv and a long list of DVDs that were available to watch. We had the full breakfast which included the continental selection and cooked to order which was all fantastic. I loved stopping to look at all the old pictures on the walls of the history of the area. The staff were also very helpful
Stayed here with our family for a wedding. The hotel is located a short walk from Katoomba's centre, but far enough away for peace and quiet. Some rooms have amazing views over the valley, others have views of the car park or a tin roof, so make sure you check your room type before booking! Our room was nice enough with a comfortable bed, however, cleaning was not up to scratch (dusty furniture, mould in the bathroom). When we arrived, our room was like a sauna with the fireplace and aircon on. Fold out beds are incredibly uncomfortable. The hotel itself has a mountains charm with fireplaces in the sitting room, but is a bit of a maze of your trying to find other rooms. Breakfast was good with a range to choose from and has the spectacular view you see in the hotel's photos. Overall, an average experience. Would I pay almost $300/night to stay here again?... probably not. Seems overpriced for what you get.
We booked a room with a view which was was spacious with a comfortable bed. I think it was some of our interactions with staff that put us off, especially our breakfast experience. We were told the wrong time for breakfast, these things happen. We arrived a few minutes before they were closing it off. Sure we could stay and have breakfast but they were already packing up and what was there was what we had to choose from. Ok, that we can deal with but to charge us full price was pretty rude. There just doesn't seem to be a proper level of customer service. You really get the feeling that they just don't care at all. If this was a cheap hotel I wouldn't care but we paid a premium and expected courteous polite service in return as a minimum. Wont be back
The hotel is a neat historic building, I had a comfortable bed and room. Nice sitting room, a pianist came out and entertained us one evening. Decor isn't quite vintage of the era, more grandma's house. Bar service was a little slow. The view of the canyon from the dining room was fantastic, although further afield than I thought it would be based on website photos. That image played a role in my decision to stay there, so I was a little disappointed to realize it was different. But overall, a pleasant experience.
My partner booked this hotel for two nights last month. He wanted to surprise me to a room with stunning views of the blue mountains as shown on their promo photos of the room he had picked. When we got there, the only view we had was of another building, less than two metres away. Paying $350 a night, we were very very disappointed. We were also greeted to a grumpy receptionist who was not friendly at all. We will not be back, and would not recommend it to anyone at all. Absolute rip off.
Have stayed on two occasions now and thoroughly enjoyed both visits, it has old school style and atmosphere, relaxing to sit back and enjoy a few drinks, good food and great rooms, will revisit again.
This place is wonderful. Very friendly staff, clean and quiet rooms. We had a buffet breakfast included and magnificent views. I would like to stay in a cabin there next time. I recommend this place for families too. We had a 1 year old child with us. These guys helped us with everything.
My fiancée and I had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Mountain Heritage. The guesthouse retains such gorgeous charm, with delicate details that makes you feel you are stepping back in time. We stayed a night at the guesthouse and dined at the restaurant to complete our menu tasting for our upcoming wedding at one of their managed estates (Yester Grange). The Restaurant Manager, Tuan, was an amazing host, who not only allowed us another tour of Yester Grange, but was attending to us during our menu tasting dinner. Tuan was exceptionally friendly, delightful and genuine, and offered us such generous knowledge service during our stay. We absolutely LOVED our tasting dinner, which turned into a generous feast! Our stay was made all the more memorable with the personal touch Tuan provided, and we are so thrilled that he will be taking care of us on our wedding day. Amisha and Sam.
Great Hotel with a very nice view from the rooms. Especially in the breakfast room you can keep an eye on the beautiful landscape. The centre of Katoomba is nearby and it takes only a few minutes to walk there. The rooms are very nice and comfortable and very clean. Good choice.
