Small but tidy and clean room. Argentinian eatery close by, and others. Car parking very handy, and free. Located on a main road but still quiet. Public transport outside of hotel. Taxi readily available.
Out of date. Radiators in 2 rooms not working. Awfully cramped. Not 2 star never mind 4 ...nothing more can be said. Dont stay here especially if claustrophobic in any way... cant begin to describe it
Our party of twelve were shown to a large room to the right of the reception for afternoon tea. As soon as we were seated they asked what we would like to drink some of the teenagers had soft drinks which they did not tell us was not included in the afternoon tea. After about 10 minutes or so they started to bring the sandwiches out and placed them on a large table behind our table along with the scones, clotted cream, jam, cakes and profiteroles. The sandwiches consisted of chicken, ham and egg some on seeded bread. Which confused me at first every afternoon tea I have been to the goodies are put on the table you are seated at. I was not impressed with self-service. The service was good asking if we would like more hot drinks we had a choice of tea, latte, hot chocolate, cappuccino.
Stayed here 6/4 with my boyfriend for the Murder Mystery Evening and wasn't disappointed. We had an Executive room and it was huge! Very clean and a new bathroom it seemed. Really nice hotel and the staff were very welcoming. Nice food during the Murder mystery dinner and at breakfast. I'd recommend this hotel!
stayed 1 night for murder mystery evening. room was on the inside circle and nothing to look at except scaffolding and it was a lot of noise coming from perhaps a generator. room quite stuffy. bed very comfortable but the lighting was not very good, couldnt see to put makeup on. bathroom dated but again the lighting was not good over the sink, husband couldnt see to shave. having said all this for 1 night it was adequate. food was really good in the evening and the breakfast (lots of choice) very helpful staff at all times. murder mystery evening very entertaining
My g/f and I stayed here as part of a murder mystery event. Pros: *Large room - bed was huge *Staff were friendly *Free parking on site *Food was lovely *Nicely decorated hotel Cons *Heating was stuck on high in the room *Breakfast was £30 for 2!!! Overall a pleasant stay for 1 night, pre-book breakfast as it works out cheaper.
Stayed for one night for a muder mystery evening the hotel is lovely and clean, well situated. comfortable room, nice evening meal and a very nice breakfast, I would stay here again. The staff were very friendly and very helpful.
I absolutely loved our stay in the hotel. The staff were friendly on arrival, we had free car parking, and the room was fab...a little snug and an odd shape, but immaculately clean and perfect for one night. The view left a lot to be desired, but to be honest, this didn't affect our short stay at all. The evening meal and breakfast exceeded our expectations and the beds were comfy and modern. The room however had a few small faults- no hooks to hang towels/coats or anything like that. There was also no wardrobe, instead just a rack with 4 hangers on. Again, on our short stay this was not a problem, but did make it a bit tricky to keep clothes for the following day neat...something which I'm sure the hotel could bear in mind when collecting feedback from reviews. The heat in the room was unbearable. Way too hot to move or sleep. I lay awake all night, unable to open the window more than an inch, and with the air con unit at bed height and right by the bed, it was making it too hard to breathe to leave it on during the night. (Also too noisy) By the time we realised that it was too uncomfortable heat wise, it was midnight and we were in our pyjamas, so didn't go down to complain. I'm sure if we had the friendly staff would've sorted it, but it was very hot allover the hotel this weekend!
Found this option for a business trip the night before my work. Great option just on the very edge of the city with plenty of free parking. Very friendly and professional welcome on arrival and departure and upon request was allocated an internal facing room upon request which is normally quieter. The room and bathroom was quite compact but there was everything I needed including large flat screen tv and a comfy bed, air conditioning, tea coffee and biscuits, space to work, iron and ironing board, good, simple and free WiFi. The only slight issue was the guest next door who stayed up late talking loudly with his friend who I also heard come and go when the doors opened and closed. I did sleep well for the majority of the night and they do offer you ear plugs. But, I guess there is always a chance of that wherever you stay, unless in the much more pricey 5* options with better sound proofing. At £63 room only, I thought it was very good value for money for a 4* in Birmingham city centre. I booked direct on the Hallmark Hotels site, as it matched any of the other booking channels. I didn’t dine but there was plenty of choice on the in room dining menu.
We thoroughly enjoyed a 2 night stay over Easter to celebrate our 13th anniversary. From check in to check out we were looked after by smiling, friendly, helpful staff. We had an executive room on the 7th floor which was well worth the little extra we paid. There were balloons, a card and free drinks vouchers waiting for us in the room which made our stay even more worth it. We were on a Superbreak db&b deal with a bottle of wine, the food was good as was the wine and all served with smiles by staff that appeared happy and to work well as a team. We walked to the botanical gardens and Winterbourne House from the hotel which we enjoyed very much. Akbar's an Indian restaurant is just across the road and we had a great meal here on the second night. It was quite an experience as very busy but great fun. We would definitely return to this hotel if we come to Birmingham again. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable HH Stathallan.
