Pat and I were finishing off our tour of The Midlands with an overnight stay at The Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club. The room and layout of the hotel together with the grounds were very impressive, the staff were very courteous and obliging, and as the evening progressed we decided to extend our stay by a night to enjoy the relaxation and comfort of this hotel. We had a little bit of sorting out to do in order that we would not have to change rooms, so the manager/reception staff did what they could to make everything flow with ease with no need to change rooms. Our second day we had all day and so made more use of the various facilities and had more time to go into the swimming pool. We got to know the staff and were given a guided tour of the golf course and ground together with an outline of the Packington Estate of which the hotel is located within. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful from breakfast, through all the facilities, bars, restaurants, etc. and one member of staff Sijo from the Cast Iron Bar and Grill, made us a variety of drinks and cocktails to enjoy. Other members of staff with the hotel complex were very friendly and obliging, ensuring everything was as it should be for us. The standards of service provided throughout the hotel grounds by the staff was top class and what everyone expects. There was a high level of respect and sense of trust towards us by all staff throughout our stay as well. It was a stay both Pat and I enjoyed and it was a pity we had to move on (work, commitments, etc.), but we shall be visiting again and planning a longer stay to ensure we make the most of this hotel’s facilities and perhaps have a round of golf next time (weather permitting).
My husband and I visited here for one night, the spa was brilliant hot tub, steam room, sauna with a swimming pool. Family friendly. Very relaxing environment. The food served in the restaurant was yummy we had pizza was very tasty. The rooms were comfortable with big tv and slight view of the woods.
Booked here as we were attending a wedding nearby; didn't realise until the day of arrival that check-in is from 4pm which meant we were unable to check in between the 1pm wedding service and the reception - not the hotel's fault, we should've checked in advance but is quite a late check-in time so just be aware if you're planning a stay. Subsequently checked in at approx 1.30am after the wedding, I had booked a room at the wedding rate of £95 but when the card machine was presented to me, I noticed the amount showing was £145, queried this and member of staff said "oh did you not want the extras?" No idea what "the extras" were but no, I had booked a £95 room and that is what I expected to pay so after he handed over to a supervisor who started the check-in process again (and once again checked if I wanted the extras!) this was then rectified and I paid the £95 as per my booking and headed to my room. The room service menu showed sandwiches that were available 24 hours a day; after approx 10 minutes of ringing I eventually got through to place an order for 2 sandwiches and was told they would be with us in 10-15 minutes. Half an hour later we called to chase them up and were promised they'd be another 5 minutes. 15 minutes later we called again and were told they were very busy and it would be another 2 minutes. Appreciate they may be busy so tell us 45 minutes from the start instead of 10 and we wouldn't have bothered ordering! So a relatively late check-in, almost being over-charged and a really long delay for room service...not the best start to a stay. The room itself was comfortable and a decent size and despite having the windows open all night was still really quiet, not enough to make me want to return for another stay though and judging by the heated argument that two other customers were having with staff on reception when I checked out it would appear I wasn't the only person who was less than impressed!
I stayed here for a couple of nights while in town on business. My room was on the top floor and it seemed to be a good 10 degrees warmer than the outside temperature up there. Off course the windows only open a couple of inches. The morning after my first night, none of the showers worked because of a pump failure. I did the best i could with the sink. I am loyal to Marriott, but disappointed in the state of the property. No complaints about the staff, except that they were a little indifferent about the shower failure.
I don't usually do reviews, but this one is a must, my stay with my 2 sisters was excellent, the receptionist, Chelsea was the one who stood out, she assisted me in a mini crisis getting our room done early so I could access it before my sister arrived for her 50th birthday, Chelsea kept me up to date by phone on how soon housekeeping could get the room done and got it done by 1.30pm, thus receptionist listened to me when others I had spoken to on phone disregarded the importance of getting the room early. Without Chelsea's help I doubt we would of got so efficiently. Well done Chelsea and a massive thank you for your kindness, patience and help. Our stay was 5 star and facilities were great. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Rooms were spacious, clean and fresh. Grounds are well kept and food was great. Well done to this hotel and its staff. High praise to Chelsea especially. Angela.
Just come back from a lovely weekend but I wasn't overly impressed with the hotel. If you are there to just play golf then it is perfect. The Arden course is just amazing and the quality of the greens and fairway was superb. We really enjoyed the golf. The hotel was a real let down. It is a very dated property and this started with the bedrooms which were run down and very basic indeed. The bathroom was horrible and with no air conditioning on the hottest weekend was not good! It is a complete maze to get to your room so bring a map!!The pool is nice enough and my kids enjoyed it there. They don't seems to cater for kids and it would've been nice to have some children's activities. Maybe some golf lessons or some other things such as archery, bouncy castles etc. We ate at the buffet each night and it was ok but nothing special. The staff were very good which is something. I would not return with my family but would come to have a round of golf and a one night stay with the boys.
I stayed here last year and reported on the hotel's faded glory and note that not much has changed. The setting is lovely and the exterior gives a great first impression but the interior is in need of some TLC. Everything is clean and tidy but it's all rather tired and uninspiring. The night I spent here was comfortable but the TV did not work and the best the staff could do was suggest I pay for WiFi in my room and use my laptop to watch Internet TV. This did not impress me given the cost of the room and the fact that as a business traveller, I struggle to recall another hotel I have stayed in over the past year where wifi was not complimentary.
We stayed at the Marriot, Forest of Arden Hotel for two nights, a hotel busy with parties, weddings and golfers. The approach to the hotel is great, with an extensive, attractive and well-maintained drive. We had a king -sized room, which was excellent, though quite a trek back to the main hotel. The surroundings, breakfast food, and reception staff were all very good. However on check-in we discovered breakfast is only included in the quoted price for double-rooms, and comes as an extra cost for larger ones. The swimming pool was great, especially suited for children. Sadly, none of the TVs worked throughout our stay (hence no radio either). This may have been caused by recent bad weather. We arrived at 1.00pm and our room was ready then, two hours ahead of our official check-in time, for which we were particularly grateful as we had a car crammed full to unload, and needed quickly to leave to collect even more. We would like particularly to thank Sanjay, the concierge, for his calm and experienced approach. He was extremely helpful and took a lot of the stress out of our daughter’s wedding day preparations.
I went to this hotel with 19 other friends from a golf society. Unfortunately the tee times were 13:30 on the Sunday and 08:30 on the Monday. So we didn't get as much time to enjoy the hotel facilities as I would have liked but the hotel room was very comfortable and the pool and spa area looked beautiful. The dinner and breakfast in the buffet restaurant was great. I found that they had ample choice for all of our guests and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The championship Arden course I felt was definitely the better of the 2 with a number of beautiful holes and a stunning par 3 18th hole. However the Aylesbury was still a nice course. I play off of a handicap of 14 and found that both the courses were challenging but not too hard that it took the fun out of it. I felt that there was something in it for golfers of all standards. I would definitely recommend for a golfing weekend away.
Had a great two night break playing the Aylesford course on Friday and the Arden on Saturday. There were 12 of us celebrating my 50th Staff were really friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived until we left. Food was superb with a menu meal on first night then buffet on Saturday (the mixed berry crumble was to die for) Rooms were clean and tidy only criticism would be Shower was very poor not a power shower, No TV channels on the first night, no water or fridge in the rooms which were very warm Apart from the above we had an excellent stay and will be looking to book again next year
