£105 for a grubby room, nothing else included. Access via dirty corridor carpets and badly chipped paint and torn wallpaper. £45.00 would have been too much! Many windows with failed double glazed units, full of moisture and in some cases a small pond within! Exorbitant bar prices. On the way to Room 120, dirty floors, leaves and rubbish unattended, glasses still outside the room. I brought this up at reception whilst I was also enquiring why the in room entertainment system didn't work (connected TV etc) - no response meant I had to call someone to turn it off before going to bed! In room wi-fi didn't work either, not even in the reception areas. Guess what, leaves still there this morning when we departed. FOOD - dreadful ... £25 a head for a buffet dinner cold platters quite nice. Hot dishes were under Food Standard temperatures, cold plates, food dried out, cold and inedible. Staff had no interest in complaints "no speaky the language" - stupidly booked breakfast, what did we get? Cold plates, few hot choices, generic cereals, no creme frais or yoghurt to go with fresh fruit. GOOD NEWS - the toaster worked very well. Sadly, all the marmalade had gone and they have a policy of not refilling ..... I spent just shy of £200.00 for the both of us to have the most miserable hotel experience we've ever had in this country.

Decided to stay here with my family to combine going to NEC for an exhibition and relaxing weekend away. We have had a great stay. Brilliant location for the NEC , only 10 min drive away. We have used the swimming pool and golf facilities all of which are excellent. The accommodation was clean and extremely comfortable. We ate in the Oaks bar area as we have a 3 year son who was better in a less formal atmosphere. We ordered food from the Oaks restaurant menu. It was delicious, very well cooked and beautifully presented. The gentlemen in the bar that looked after us was absolutely brilliant. His service was impeccable so thank you Sijo. You are a credit to the Marriott name!! We will definitely be staying here again😀😀

This is a very average Marriott property. Service is generally good and grounds very well kept but the rooms clearly need an update and it lacks air conditioning which is very surprising for the brand. I will stay again as it is convenient for Birmingham but wouldn't choose to stay if I wasn't on business and needed somewhere to relax with my partner at weekends. Definitely better options nearby if I wasn't collecting Marriott points.

Stayed at the Forest of Arden for a couple of nights whilst working at the NEC. The hotel is just a short drive from the NEC complex and ideally located if you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle. I had an upgraded room which was of more than adequate size with a huge and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also large and included a full size bath. The shower over bath was ok but not very powerful at all and it took ages to rinse shampoo out of my hair. Not helped by the fact that the shower had the habit of randomly going scaldingly hot before resuming normal temperature. There was a notice in the pool changing rooms warning of this but nothing in the room. The upgraded room came with a illey coffee machine as an extra however the espresso pods were not replaced and dirty coffee cups not replaced or removed at all during my stay. The standard tea and coffee making facilities were refreshed and replaced. The hotel has golf courses, a well equipped gym and a very pleasant pool. Unfortunately on my first night the pool was unexpectedly closed which was quite disappointing. Despite signs everywhere saying the pool was unsupervised we were told it was closed because a life guard wasn't available. Slightly confusing. Breakfast was buffet style and adequate, some vegetarian options for a cooked breakfast would have been nice. Overall the food options in the hotel for evening meals seemed at best average and overpriced. However there are some lovely places to eat in the village of Meriden which is a short drive away. All the reception staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive and more than happy to help at any opportunity. Free wifi is available in the restaurants and bars, however it's a fairly steep £15 for access in your room. If you have a room with a golf course view expect mowing to start quite early. I'd be very happy to stay at this hotel again.

Lovely comfy bed and pillows. Yucky greying thin bath towels though, and would have loved a robe. It's huge! Gym classes great and open to residents. But rubbish conference buffet- expected much more, great pastry and pud, but salads and sckewers lacking any flavour- good for families and business. Not luxury by any means.

Have to be honest from the outset and say I stayed here whilst doing a 3 day event at the NEC so I didn't access the full facilities this venue offers. That said, it is a lovely spot and the facilities on offer looked absolutely great. The hotel itself is very comfortable and my room was spacious and decorated to a high standard. Bed very comfortable, and Im fussy! The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Fantastic selection for breakfast and all lovely and fresh, none of that food sitting out for ages stuff. I have food allergies and this is one of the few times Ive not had to order specially for me. I did have one meal in the hotel which was nice. I have 2 niggles about the stay though, in the bar area the tables had been coated in something which made them tacky so everything , including skin, stuck to them. The main niggle is trying to find it! The sat nav coordinate & postcode take you no where near the hotel, even when you link from the hotel website, so be warned- go old school and print out directions. Despite these minor niggles I think this would be a lovely venue for a relaxing weekend, once you get there!

Lovely place to stay even if you don't like golf, golfers all over the place, mostly in good spirits but could be a little awkward for some. Typical Marriott , great staff, clean room, comfortable beds, breakfast really nice with a great view of the grounds and golf course. Its an easy pop to the nec which is only 5 miles away. Very relaxing stay.

When you want a quiet night you don't want to be on the flight path. This hotel is 20 minutes from the NEC and is really quiet. Surrounded by a golf course and woodland you would believe there was an airport just round the corner. Great hotel and at a reasonable price which includes a hearty breakfast

This was my first visit to the Forest of Arden and overall the experience fell short of expectation. The setting of this hotel is wonderful and despite being near motorways and Birmingham airport it is very quiet. The exterior of the hotel is pleasant enough but that is wher the good bits finish I am afraid. The place is very tired and in need of refurbishment - with money spent this would be a wonderful place but currently it looks on a downward spiral and being run on a budget. My room was bizarre - two large double beds for just me when one would suffice and a sofa/chairs to relax in would have made more sense. The room was clean but cold on arrival (somebody else commented on this) and I had to turn the one radiator up full to warm things up. The bathroom was again tired but functional. On arrival I went down to the bar area for a drink and to relax - the tables inside were dirty and "sticky" with drink residue - again very dried decor and dark. The staff however were very pleasant. In the evening myself and a colleague came down for dinner and after a drink went through to the restaurant only to find that it was a buffet set-up. Incredible. Again somebody else mentioned this in an earlier post so it seems a permanent fixture not just on a Friday. In fact you could get better food personalised and ordered via room service - this has to change. There was apparently individual service in the BAR but not the main restaurant. Weird arrangement. The food itself was limited and in dishes under heated lights - needless to say this dries out the food. The same applied to the morning breakfast where the scrambled egg was dried out and bland. The bacon however was nice and well done (probably due to time under the lights rather than being cooked that way. The conference facilities were OK but again the place had a feel of a hotel on a downward spiral and past it's best. I wouldn't stay here again.

Easy to get to and set in a lovely surrounding of large grounds and golf course. However, when i entered my room i found it was already taken by a lady who was well ensconsed and had obviously been there for some time - this could have been extremely embarassing. So, I went back to reception who were apologetic and offered a bottle of wine for problem - the wine never arrived. My second room was comfortable at first glance with a good desk, two good size double beds and the largest tv i have had in a hotel room. But, it was extremely cold and i couldn't locate any heating controls. In the morning it became clear that the hairdryer was missing which should have been picked up during the last clean. It was too late to get one from reception so I had to do without. Conference facilities were very good, plenty of space and numerous rooms for break outs. Overall, this is a nice hotel and I would consider staying again but only when it's warmer and I'd check that all facilities are in place on arrival.
