What a lovely gem of a place, we stayed here before our flight out of Birmingham, the stake are a credit to the hotel, we didn’t use the spa facilities or the pool but wish I’d packed a separate bag a thy looked fab. The guys in the Cast Iron Bar & Grill couldn’t do enough and the food was an absolute surprise int expect 5* cuisine in a bar/ pub setting but the chicken pie was something else. The room was spacious and all the amienties in the bathroom that are missing from so many hotels these days. My only gripe was having to pay for WiFi this is the only hotel I have one across in a good while that doesn’t provide some sort of free internet.

Stayed here again after a previous positive experience. Spacious and pleasant hotel grounds, nice pool and leisure facilities, and ample free parking. Check in and out was quick and easy, although at check out there was a huddle of staff who stood by watching as I struggled by with cases, bags, and kids. It wouldn't have taken much effort to lend a hand and it would have been greatly appreciated. Double room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and had a bath unlike many hotels that only have a shower. The rooms and hallways could do with a refresh though as they are looking a little tired. The location is perfect for trips to visit family on the outskirts of Birmingham, so will likely return in future.

This was the first time we had been to this hotel and we were so looking forward to it. However, it wasn't as I expected. We booked a room with a free night certificate, due to our loyalty to the brand, which was great. A few days before our stay, I got an email asking if we would like to upgrade to a Deluxe or a Superior Room and I completed the form advising that we would and agreeing to pay the supplement, as required. When we arrived at the hotel, the signage wasn't great and there wasn't any signs to the disabled parking. However, after a detour we managed to find it. This is a large hotel, with 214 rooms and therefore 2 disabled spaces isn't really sufficient. When we arrived there were three receptionists but none of them look keen to serve us. Then one of them did and when I stated I had checked in on the App the other one thanked me for using the App. We were given an envelope with a room key and advised the room was pre-paid. We were also given the WiFi code. We were also told that breakfast wasn't included and asked if we wanted to pay for breakfast, but we advised we wouldn't, as we didn't know what we were doing. When we arrived at our room it was a bit disappointing. We have always had a suite at Marriott, but using the voucher gave us a basic room, and it was a basic, a safe that didn't work and no fridge. I appreciate that I was aware that I was getting a basic room but when I checked on the App the rooms I had said I would pay to upgrade to were available, yet I wasn't given an upgrade. I wondered if it was because this was a free night but with IHG I often have a free room and it always upgraded, sometimes even to a suite - with no charge. As we didn't have a safe we didn't want to leave the room and have dinner, so we ordered room service. We were told it would be 40 minutes, which was fine but after an hour there was no sign of the food and no-one had called to say that there was a delay. I called to chase up the room and I was told that they would call me back, when they did they said that the food was literally leaving the kitchen. However, as it was a further 10 to 15 minutes before it arrived. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, in fact mine was cold salmon and the other dish was fish and chips. The food was very nice but I wonder if it would have ever arrived if I hadn't chased it up. The final straw was this morning. We didn't want full breakfast. However, the Guest Service Directory said the Zest Bar opened at 7.00am and served Bacon Baps etc. After we half packed the car, I went round to the bar and there was one staff member there. I asked if the bar was open serving food and I was pointed in the direction of the restaurant. I advised I didn't want a full breakfast and that I just wanted a snack or something, didn't they just do that but I was told they did. but I would be better in the restaurant. Once again, I said I didn't want a full breakfast and asked if they didn't just do baps or something. She advised they did but she wasn't and I should go and have breakfast in the restaurant. We checked out, packed up and had breakfast on the M6 services, a bacon bap each and a bottle of water - just what we wanted - not a full breakfast. On the positive side we requested another desk chair for the room and they did provide one. I was a Gold Elite Member with Marriott, but I am down to Silver, as wasn't greeted as a member, so clearly Silver doesn’t count for anything. Bottom line is I wouldn't recommend this hotel and I certainly won't be back again.

We stayed 2 nights over Easter weekend from Easter Saturday to Easter Monday. The hotel is clean, well appointed and well maintained. We ate at both restaurants which were nice, just be aware a 12.5 per cent service charge is automatically applied to your food bills. We were disappointed that we could not check in until 4pm even though we had previously been in contact to say we would arrive around 2pm. The receptionist was rude and churlish and made us wait two hours in reception with a 2 year old toddler with no WiFi offered or updates. We had to keep asking when our room would be ready, we couldn’t use the pool either and I had to cancel my spa treatment at 5pm as I didn’t have time to get ready before then to go out for dinner at 6.30. That let the hotel down massively. The concierge tried to make up for it but I wouldn’t go back I’m afraid as it’s not a family friendly policy to make people wait until 4pm check in.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay, arrived early but our room was ready and reception were friendly and efficient. Before our first evening we had a lovely time in the pool and jacuzzi. On our first evening we ate in the Cast Iron Grill Restaurant, and we were offered an amazing All you can eat Buffet at very reasonable price, we were spoilt with the variety of food on offer and everything tasted delicious. We retired to a lovely comfortable bed and had a great nights sleep. Also the breakfast was brilliant with lots of choice and the staff were very polite, friendly and efficient.

I was a leisure club member until last April (£65 per month) and have been taking my daughter swimming there since she was born (turns 4 on Saturday). We went on Saturday to be told the price for a swim is now £25! It used to £15 which I didn't mind paying for the facilities and the experience. I was told the price increase was due to trying to maintain higher standards and wanting to keep people out who couldn't afford it. The changing rooms still smell mouldy. The lockers work when they feel like it. Toilets don't flush. There are wet towels left around the changing rooms. The showers are either hot or cold. I'd work on those standards first and then encourage people in!! £25 is an expensive swim for an hour with a toddler. I won't be coming back, nor will I recommend you to others.

Was on an event trip. This is a huge hotel with amazing golf course. The hotel itself is very well presented, the staff well trained. The rooms tastefully decorated. Breakfast was excellent with good service. The gym is rather poly and dull the spa and swimming pool quite a good size.

I booked this hotel as a treat for me and my partner to celebrate our 11th year anniversary, I can not praise the hotel enough, from start to finish the hotel went above and beyond and gave excellent customer satisfaction. The hotel is beautiful and very well kept, we were allowed to check in at 12pm as opposed to 4pm, the reception staff were very courteous and helpful, our room was lovely with a nice view over the golf course, very clean and beautiful presentation, we went to the cedar wood spa and had a couples massage, again all staff were very courteous and friendly and the massage was a lot better than we expected, 1st class service and perfect to relax and unwind. We made use of the facilities, swimming pool, steam room, jacuzzi and sauna, all well maintained, lockers free in changing rooms and all essentials required at hand, excellent facilities. We had lunch in the zest bar and an afternoon drink, reasonably priced, good service and great food. Upon arrival back to our room we were overwhelmed by a bottle of Prosecco on ice along with chocolate strawberries courtesy of the manager to wish us a happy anniversary, this was a wonderful gesture and we were overwhelmed. On the evening we ate in the hotels restaurant Cast Iron Grill, we were greeted with a very warm welcome and a complimentary glass of champagne, the food was excellent and service outstanding, all staff were very friendly. The lady who waited on us was Canadian and such a lovely lady, friendly and service with a smile, she gave excellent service and is a credit to the hotel. After a lovely day and evening we returned to our room, the bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in with the most luxurious pillows, we had a great nights sleep and woke to a beautiful presented delicious breakfast delivered to our room. It was a wonderful stay from start to finish and would highly recommend this hotel to everyone, can not fault this hotel at all. Perfect weekend. Thank you all at Forest of Arden we will definitely be back.

Visited only for a day but my word each and every staff here go out of the way to accommodate you. I was privileged to be serve by Philip who was excellent through and has a great attitude. Kudos well done!!

Excellent facilities, especially the swimming pool which was great. The food was delicious and everyone made sure that there was food that was perfect for even fussy eaters like me! All of the staff were very helpful even when we arrived quite late. The beds were so comfy and the room was very clean. There was a large group of us staying for a conference and it was so great to meet together somewhere so wonderful, the Marriott Hotel couldn't have tried harder to make it a great weekend.
