The hotel could do with a little refurbishing but everything worked and the staff is friendly. The location is excellent, almost everything in Bilbao can be reached on foot. I enjoyed the sound of the school children, it gives life to a place.
We stayed here for three nights and found it comfortable and well equipped. We had an early flight so arrived expecting to drop our cases off to find that our room was ready for us which meant we could shower and freshen up before exploring. Hotel is in a good location, it’s not far to the main sites and restaurants. Breakfast was a buffet with a very large choice of hot and cold food. It was busy on our first morning, Sunday, but not so much the other days. The buffet was refreshed right until service stopped so if you aren’t an early riser, it’s probably best to go down towards the end when it wasn’t so busy. The bar area is very comfortable, and the staff were happy to provide ice and fresh milk for tea/coffee. There’s a coffee machine rather than a kettle so if you need a morning cuppa a travel kettle is a good idea, but that’s usual in Spain. We were near the school, but didn’t find the noise a problem.
We stayed here for one night in the middle of October. Previous to our visit, we checked the hotel website for parking, and noted that there was a car park on site, with no reservation necessary. Not the story when we arrived and were told the car park was fully booked. This was a bit of an inconvenience. The hotel itself isn't much to look at from the outside. It is in a great location though, and central to cafes, bars, shops etc. The reception area is really quite nice, and although we didn't eat or drink in the hotel, the bar looked nice too. Our room however, scabby! It really needed some TLC! It was very basic, and rather dated. Not generally what you expect from 4 stars. Although it was generally clean, there were cigarette burn holes in the headboards to the beds, the doors were very chipped, back to the natural wood on the corners, making them look really tired and as if no effort had been made to provide tidy accommodation. The bathroom was generally clean, but requires updating, and the shower head needs a deep clean. Chances are, if we return to Bilbao, we won't stay here again.
This is a good hotel in the centre of Bilbao. Spacious rooms, good service and bif breakfast buffet. The biggest issue might be that there is a school next to some rooms, which might make the mornings a bit noicy if opening the windows.
This is a good value hotel. Rooms were clean and well appointed. It is very central to all of the city and tourist attractions. Good little tapas restaurants nearby which also served good simple breakfasts. An easy walk to the Guggenheim and Old Town.
The location is perfect, really center but average for the price! Double room more than correct except the bed 140 cm. No view and window in a patio with air conditioner noise. Breakfast is a disaster.
Great room/suite, very comfortable, well appointed bathroom, excellent shower. Looking closely the room looked well used and in need of a little tlc, but I am nit picking. Staff very attentive, helpful, willing to talk and advise. We didn't eat at the hotel as there are plenty restaurants and cafes around this city centre venue. Breakfast not included and an extra. Overall very good value.
A big hotel in the center of town, a bit outdated, but comfortable large rooms, good bathrooms complete with all toiletries. The hotel is in the center of things although a good 15 minutes walk to the Guggenheim Museum and further than that to the old town. Overpriced drinks in the huge lobby, impersonal receptionist and an extremely low, tight garage to accommodate a 9 seater van
I was for the first time in Bilbao, which I liked very much. I found Hotel Ercilla on the Website by Galahotels. The arrival was not promising. At checking in, I asked what kind of room I get. The reply was: the Simple one (they have Simple, Standard, Luxury rooms). I said I paid the Standard room with Breakfast. The receptionist checked my voucher and he really gave my Standard room. The difference is not big, all rooms have mini bar and safe, but the Simple room doesn't have Espresso machine and Standard room has it. So, if I wasn't attentive, I had no Espresso every day. And that is a difference! In the lobby you can have free tea only. I was surprised, that in the 4 star hotel they don't have any prospectus (brochure) of the town, of the country, of the hotel, no publicity for city trips. You have to ask for the map at the reception, and that's almost all they have. The room and the bathroom were clean and quiet, there were many toiletteries in the bathroom. The Buffet breakfast was big, with good choice of everything, even smoked salmon, but I missed the dry ham (jamon iberico). The hotel is big and they have also groups, which is not so pleasant. You have to come for breakfast after the opening (7.30 am), because later it could be full.
Stayed at this hotel by chance because the original hotel I booked made a mistake with my booking and they arranged forme to stay at ericilla. The lobby is clean and quite inviting. My room was big and spacious with 2 double beds. The bathroom was also roomy with an impressive amenity kit provided. However the hotel doesn't provide a kettle and tea and coffee in the room. The noise was also quite disturbing whenever someone nearby closed the door, mine would rattle and shake as well. I could clearly hear banking doors from my bed which is a shame.
