Pet Friendly Bethany Beach Hotels

Discover the family-friendly resorts of Bethany Beach

Located just a few miles from other popular Delaware beach resorts, Bethany Beach offers a quiet getaway on the shore with a great reputation for its family-friendly atmosphere. The entire area is filled with charm and gorgeous natural attractions—some amazing sunsets can be seen here. And its award-winning beachfront is why generations continue to spend summer vacations at this destination.

Things to do
Beaches and boardwalk

One of the most appealing things about Bethany Beach is its location. Just south of Rehoboth, the town is less populated than other beach towns in the area, with a more relaxed pace of life. Fenwick Island State Park is a nearby barrier island that features miles of soft sand. Children enjoy the location and can spend the day building sand castles, flying kites, wading in the water and soaking in the sun. If you look closely, you may even be able to see dolphins popping out of the water.

Unlike other ‘touristy’ places, the boardwalk in Bethany is quite calm. There are a few quaint shops and food vendors, but no noisy arcades or rides, and many visitors enjoy biking or rollerblading down the boardwalk during the morning hours.

Historical attractions

There are some fun historical spots to check out while at Bethany Beach. Head to the Discovery Sea Shipwreck Museum on Fenwick Island to view an actual sunken treasure. Also on the island is the famous lighthouse, one of the oldest sites in Delaware, which continues to guide ships safely into port.

Shopping

Delaware is famous for its tax-free shopping. As with any resort town, there are plenty of shops to visit. Most stores offer beachwear, t-shirts, toys, souvenirs and trinkets of all kinds. Labor Day is the best time to score some great deals, as the merchants are clearing out their inventories at the end of the summer season. A favorite local spot is the Bethany Trading Company; this store offers a one-stop shopping experience with affordable prices.

Dining

Bethany Beach offers some of the freshest seafood on the East Coast. The Bluecoast Seafood Grill is a popular hangout, offering delicious Old Bay seasoned crabs. For some great outdoor dining, you can head to Mango's and enjoy live music and a delicious menu. If Italian cuisine is more your speed, visit DiFebo's Restaurant. They serve local farm-fresh veggies, seafood, veal, pasta and homemade desserts with a playful Mediterranean décor and popular outdoor dining.

Where to stay

Bethany Beach hotels range from small, inexpensive places to larger condo complexes with more amenities. Well-known chain hotels offer comfortable accommodations near the shore. The Holiday Inn Express is a popular choice for families and business travelers.

Special events

During summer, live entertainment can be found at the Bandstand, and the entire family can enjoy concerts on weekends. In addition to the Summer Concert Series, movies and bonfires can be found all over the beach.

Visitors also enjoy the Annual Arts Festival on the boardwalk. Over 100 artists display paintings, metal or clay sculptures, jewelry and much more. This event seems to grow larger with each passing year.

Best time to visit

Bethany Beach is a "quiet town" that is extremely popular in the summer season. Travelers searching for a calm and beautiful beach continue to visit annually. Temperature highs average in the mid-80s. To avoid crowds and enjoy cooler temperatures, you may consider an autumn stay. Most shops remain open, and events are still on offer.
