This was my fourth visit to Switzewrland and I was very excited to finally stay here. Adelboden is a bit off the main tourist track and required several train a a bus to get to. The location is absolutely worth it and the journey is a treat in itself with all the views you get to see on the way, but The Cambian was a pretty big letdown for me. Firstly, the good: - View and location. Do make sure you get a room that actually faces the mountains (we did) and insist you get one on a higher floor (we didn't and ended up on the second floor with the hotel's restaurant roof underneath our balcony - not ideal). If you don't have a Swiss Pass and intend to use the cable cars to explore, be aware that hotel guests get a discount. Ask the front desk and mention this when getting tickets at the cable car. - Breakfast. Delicious and very good selection. Very slow service to get tea or coffee, also they kept forgetting to bring cutlery and napkins. - Spa. Well maintained, good service. I got a very good massage. Be aware that the sauna area is clothing-free, meaning you must be nude when using it. This may be a problem for some people, so something to keep in mind. Secondly, the not-so-good things that were not as expected: - Hotel atmosphere. It's kind of non-existent. Minimalistic modern design which I normally like and expected to find here was paired with deadly silence and echoing footsteps on concrete floors. Everything was so quiet that I felt we needed to whisper. The ambiance was seriously missing. Same goes for the restaurant, especially at dinner time. No mood lighting, no music. You are basically forced to listen to other people's conversations and whisper if you don't want them to overhear yours. - The carpets. In the hallways the carpets were really dirty and stained. Not acceptable for this level of property. - The room. We booked a deluxe mountain-facing room and while the view (minus the sticking-out roof below) was nice I was disappointed to find that the room was quite aged. Dirty carpets was the number one thing that I noticed right away, same as the hallways. Furniture and upholstery was showing age. - The famous outdoor pool. WAY smaller than in the photos, it's more of a very large tub really. No swimming can really be done here. Comfortably it will fit maybe 8 people. Anymore than that and you'll be rubbing thighs with strangers. For those people who want serene photos of themselves in the pool like what you see on the website, forget it. Photo shoots are going on non-stop, so you'll have to get in line, and the rest of the time you'll just sit there and annoyed by all the people blocking your view trying to get that picture. Serenity gone. The angles are deceiving too. The pool is NOT an infinity pool per se, it just sits on the patio surrounded by sun beds and chairs. If you're thinking of coming here JUST for the pool experience as so many are, don't bother because it's not worth it. - Dinner at the restaurant. The food is tasty, absolutely. But from what we observed during our dinner there, a lot of people don't understand how it works. Namely, that it is basically a tapas experience - every dish is meant to be shared and that the servings are VERY VERY small and VERY expensive. The service was poor in that our server DID NOT explain this to us, and based on overhearing other patrons they were not told about this either. We were able to figure out the tapas concept based on the fact that mashed potatoes were a separate menu item. So, we ordered a bottle of wine and 4 things off the menu we assumed would be a sharing size: an appetizer of soup, and for mains a potato dish, a vegetable dish and a veal dish. The waiter asked us if 'that was all?' in a strange tone, which prompted me to ask if he had other suggestions, to which he replied: 'Well, if you are hungry afterwards you can always get more'. That in itself was weird, he had a bit of an air about him as he said that. Didn't know what to make of it but when the food came I understood: the soup was served in LITERALLY shot glasses, maybe a tablespoon worth of soup for each person, followed by two tablespoons each of mashed potatoes, two very small slices of veal and a couple of zucchini pieces. The total volume of food wouldn't be enough to feed a hungry child! The couple at the next table was utterly confused about the servings and was discussing whether they made a mistake ordering. They believed they were each getting a meal. he waiter was also rude to them when they asked him questions. We were not starving, so we just finished these bite-sized offerings and went to the bar to have dessert. The atmosphere in the bar was a bit nicer anyway. The price for the food was ridiculously high based on portion size, if you actually come here hungry (say after a hike), you will literally have to order everything on the menu to leave full. - Service. As mentioned above, service at breakfast was slow, at dinner borderline rude. Front desk staff was average, no one really goes an extra mile to make you feel welcome. Overall, it's an OK place to stay. But it's much too expensive for what you get. Won't come back or recommend to others.

Last month I was super excited when I booked my stay at The Cambrian in Adelboden, as it’s known to be one of the best hotels in the region. In fact, by the end of my stay, this hotel had effortlessly captured my heart and secured its place as one of my favourite hotels I’ve ever been to! Situated in the heart of the Swiss Alps, this hotel boasted an incredible 360 view of the surrounding natural beauty. From the snow-capped mountains, to the greenery scattered around, to the warmth of the villages at their bases - it was a wondrous sight to behold. I could be here all day praising how incredible the view was, but since pictures speak a thousand words, let these photos give you a glimpse of what it was like! I stayed in a junior suite with a balcony (with direct views of the mountains!) - I had to resist lounging on the deck all day long taking in the grandeur of my view. One of the highlights was the divine in-room breakfast. With a huge spread of different culinary delights, the sight alone was enough to make my mouth water. The taste certainly lived up to my expectations. Savouring every bite while gazing out onto the beautiful landscape, it was an absolutely perfect way to start the day! Every day, I loved spending time in the hotel’s wellness retreat. The heated outdoor swimming pool was unlike any other I’ve been to, as it had incomparably spectacular views. There was also a hammam, a Finnish sauna, therapists on site and a wide range of spa treatments readily available. It was undoubtedly a rejuvenating and revitalising experience. Something I was particularly impressed with about The Cambrian was how everyone there was so kind and helpful, just like a family! The director even offered us her car, so we managed to go and discover the surrounding mountains and waterfalls in the comfort of our private transport. It was so kind of her and we were sincerely appreciative! Overall, I can understand why it’s the #1 hotel in Adelboden - from its picturesque surroundings, to its high-end dining and spa facilities, to its extraordinary service and amenities - The Cambrian Hotel is truly one of a kind.

Spent two nights at The Cambrian during a ski trip, and expected a vibrant atmosphere. It turned out to be much more quiet and relaxed than expected, which was totally fine. Rooms are nice, facilities as you should expect for the price, but not much more. Great massage service and spa area. Only ate breakfast at the hotel, which had a huge selection. Note that The Cambrian is NOT a ski-in/ski-out hotel, but they offer a free shuttle service to the lifts and back. Adelboden is a nice little down, and part of a great ski area connected to Lenk.

My wife wanted to surprise me so she booked a room for 3 nights at the Cambrian. I have never heard of Adelboden so to tell you the truth i was worried. We arrived to Airport at Zürich and rented a car. We drove to Adelboden and it took us around 2 hours. We arrived around 3 pm and our room was ready. When we went up there was a little note on the table with 2 cakes wishing congratulating us since my wife had tolled the reservation that we are baby mooning. The first thing you notice at the hotel is the view and the pool. This was like a dream that came true for me. The food was good, the rooms were modern and clean, a very helpful staff, that had answers to all my questions and even helped me buy my ski passes. The hotel has shuttle service to the ski slops too. As a conclusion I would like to say one thing! If you like to ski then the best place is to stay at The Cambrian and to ski at Adelboden.

I spent 2 nights in this hotel for a business conference. This hotel is nicely situated in the heart of Adelboden, the room was spacious enough but on the first floor (road side) which can be noisy because of the road, the curtains were not really good as there was a lot of light (I guess because I was on first floor). The room and hotel was clean, facilities like SPA and pool are very nice, small but nice. For a business stay it was good enough. We did not go skiing but I know the valley very well (going evey year at the Lenkerhof am Lenk) and this is the best ski place for families I have gone so far.

Magnificent view, awesome facility, great hospitality, large room, great breakfast (and the sweetest cherry tomatoes I've tasted), tranquil and peaceful, easy access to many sightseeing/outdoor spots. A perfect getaway. The only downside is $$$$. Well, you can't get everything, right?

This hotel is awesome. Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are a bit small, but the beds are comfortable and the setting is amazing. We really enjoyed the smaller hotel feel and the staff was extremely helpful as it was our first time to Switzerland. We will definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity.

This was an amazing Christmas Ski Vacation. The resort is beautiful, with amazing views, great facilities and an extremely friendly staff. The rooms are nice and the spa is excellent. Will definitely return.

This is the great hotel and all that we want it's here! I've spent my honeymoon here with full of joy and the beautiful scenery was so amazing!! They also have cosy place to hang out with your loved one..... Thank you and I'm sure be back again....

This hotel has truly espectacular views !!! The Service is Truly great and the staff is really accommodating. We spent 2 great nights there, however for the price we paid I expected a bit better accommodations, The bed was nice and comfy and the room was clean, so really no complains there, the view was just breathtaking, my 2 complains are the Bathroom with its lack of counter space, no bathtub and the room being too small, although here in Switzerland is not uncommon as the space is limited, so I get it, but again at 350 CHF a night the price was a bit much. If you do not have the budget to stay here, The Cambrian is still worth a visit to the Restaurant, which also has great views and is also accesible to outside guest. The Restaurant has a great Tapas concept and everything we ordered was really great, (The Spinach with Cauliflower, the Chicken, the Salmon, the Mash potatoes with calamari Olives, the pumpkin soup were delicious) definitely worth a visit. Johnny was our waiter and he was great, I was pleasantly surprised to see how kid friendly they were. The SPA which has as a high light an Espectacular heated Pool with an amazing Views was great too and is accesible to kids until 5 pm. The bar restaurant was mediocre at best, after having experience the Restaurant, definitely skip it when it comes to food, is better to go to the restaurant for food, for drinks I have no clue as I don't drink but perhaps in that area they might be better. All and all it was a great experience and I am definitely glad we stayed there, but traveling with a kid requires a bit more space so I guess next time I would look for a bigger suite.
