Entry to the hotel seems exciting- as if entering a cave!! Food is simply awesome there with traditional Indian fares in buffet spread. It is a rare sight to see so many Indians in a hotel in Switzerland. Enjoyed the hospitality of the hotel
Old style hotel with impressive architecture. The price of the room was surprisingly cheap however the room was not nice at all. I guess other rooms (with higher price) will be much better. The dinner buffet and the breakfast were quite good.
The Terrace is a hotel with a bit of history. What is very clear is that it once was the place to be in Engelberg. I think when originally opened it was the Grand Terrace and must have been rather splendid judging from the various photos of it in its heyday. It now represents good value for money but is not so grand. We stayed in the new wing without much of a view. The room was perfectly adequate and the bed comfortable. Nice powerful shower too in the fairly basic bathroom. The staff were mostly very pleasant. Only the older and more senior members of staff let the side down a bit with a rather brusque manner. It is well located with a very convenient lift system to get from town into the hotel. Ski bus is only a short walk away from the bottom lift. Food was disappointing. Buffets most evenings we stayed and not really very interesting options. The bar area was very nice though with live music on one of the nights we stayed and the obligatory huge gin selection. Would I stay here again? Probably, but I would eat in town in the evening rather than the hotel.
We stayed here with our family in two rooms for 3 nights over Christmas. The rooms are average, but if you get a room on the front side of the hotel, the views are to die for. uninterrupted views of the mountains. The rooms as said were pretty average. a tiny bathroom with a shower and toilet, but the sink with mirror is actually on the outside, in the actual room. The beds are comfortable. The breakfast buffet is good, with a good selection of food, and fresh coffee. Funny enough, the coffee machines that you use to make your own coffee for breakfast, are locked at night; at dinner time you get charged some 4CHF for a coffee instead. The dinner buffet was very average, nothing to write home about but for 38CHF also priced very reasonably. We had dinner there once, and decide to eat out after that. There is no gym, but a good mixed adult sauna (+16) that is open between 4 and 8pm. From the hotel, you can take two lifts to get to the street level and it only takes a few minutes to walk to the center of town.
Stayed for 2 nights from 20/7/2016 with family though our room was a bit cramped, the children room was spacious (may be it was the corner most room) the room had small interconnected balcony with other rooms can not explain the view from the room/balcony, it was too good, particularly the sun rise & sun set, feel like going back again and again excellent & efficient staff good food with a decent selection of beverages
I visited the hotel, way back in 2012-13 since there was no option here to select previous years I had to select the month of may. The view from the balcony at night is awesome with lights from the nearby town (village ??). The food was also tasty. We were looking forward to an Indian cuisine after a week long English food. The alleyway displays old photographs of the property which was once upon a time a castle. A walk in the morning will make your day. The entrance (approach to the reception) to the hotel is the main attraction. Huge spacious rooms with clean and tidy linens
Excels in all respect. Ambience, food, hospitality. Rooms offer excellent view of the Alps and village down below. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommended. The approach to the hotel is something unique.
A large "old Style" Hotel... a bit dated. Excellent location overlooking the village and the entire Valley / mountains. (famous for Bollywood Film locations shoots) Indian Food is available as the Hotel guests during summer months are mainly Asia Groups. In the winter however guests are mainly winter sport lovers and there are no group tours. Breakfast is excellent and the staff is friendly and efficient. We sure can recommend this hotel.

The hotel is surrounded by beautiful mountains. They offer you a gr8 view. Special mention of the awesome Indian Food :-). You may just not want to stop. Though some improvement may be required on the rooms. All in all a thumbs up !
