First let me say that I started staying with the Penta years ago and at that time my coworkers all stayed at a different hotel, closer to our office. Although the Penta is farther than the other hotel, I liked it much better. Last week I stayed there and first I had a hard time sleeping, the room was too hot, the front desk recommends we open the windows, this is of course a bad idea since the train passes right next to the hotel, I don't live near a train at home so I cannot just ignore the rumbling of the train also their were mosquitos that would come in. The next issue was that one day my key decided not to work, I went downstairs and got it programmed, then back upstairs and it still didn't work. I went back downstairs and the lady called a man to help me, he went to my room and replaced the battery on the door lock and after a few minutes it worked. I then left the room and when I returned again my door didn't work, I went to the front desk AGAIN and the lady tried to reprogrammed the key, I told her to stop and call the man again, the man came upstairs with me and again tried for a few minutes and decided I needed to change rooms, so I had to pack up my stuff and leave it a coworkers rooms, until a new room was assigned. This was not what I had in mind for a perfect stay at the Penta. To make matters worse, no one stopped to talk to me and apologize for the inconviene and hassle of having to pack and unpack, the front desk gave me a new key and not even "sorry for the trouble" as if it was my failed that the door lock stopped working. Nothing at all. I guess next time I need to bring a door lock with me.
The hotel itself is really nice -- lovely location on the river, great outdoor lounge areas, nice rooms, breakfast and fitness center. Would have rated it a 5 except for the front desk staff. They were not helpful at all and made us feel like we were bothering them when we checked in and every time we asked a question. Additionally, I sent 2 emails to the hotel after we reserved our room and never received a response back so I called to ensure our room request was added to the file. Even after talking to someone who assured me that the request was added, we found out it wasn't when we checked in. Just very poor communications in general detract from the loveliness of the hotel itself.
Modern design with dark colors and bright spotlights is awful. Everything is either too dark or too bright. I have to bring my own soap and shampoo. The ones you provide are discustingly chemical in color, smell and effect. At breakfast you need to have cereals available. The only oats are in a mix with sour green apples.
The location of the hotel is good, a nice place near the water. Long narrow and dark corridors. The designer furniture is not comfortable. The air conditioning works bad. The Wi-Fi is very slow. No fridge in the room. Little storage space and a dirty stairwell. This hotel does not meet the expectations of a 4 star hotel.
As always very nice stay!!! A little tip, typically for EAT DHL guests who check out late... would be nice if key room could be activated till planned departure date/time. Regarding service, breakfast, cleanness etc it is all very good!
Stayed at this hotel since we were hosting a company meeting here. . The rooms are modest in size and the the restaurant has a simple menu but the place offered a great value. the room cost is relatively low, there is a full fitness center with sauna, a beautiful view of the river from the roof on clear days and the location is conveneient to running in the park or boating on the river. During the evening you can play pool off the lobby or sit in the lounge amid dozens of burning candles. I think that it is an excellent value.
The hotel was clean, modern and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The hotel is a long and expensive ride to Tegal but if you plan on staying for 4 or more days it is fine. The town is nice as are the area parks that are very close to the hotel. Many places to eat and many cafe's for coffee and baked goods.
Pentahotel Koepenick is, as the name suggests, located in Koepenick which lays outside central Berlin. The hotel has a nice location close to a river and Schloss Koepenick (a castle) and the historical center of Koepenick. The interior of the hotel is VERY designed, in a positive way. Huge lamps, brick walls and Very Large Chairs meet you in the reception, which by the way is combined with a bar. Staff was friendly and helpful in an efficient german way. The rooms were large, modern and comfortable, although perhaps somewhat warm. Breakfast was very good by any standard with lovely german brötchen and a large selection of most everything. I do not really have any strong objections to the hotel, apart maybe from the fact that it is far away from the city center of Berlin, but that should be fairly obvious to anyone who looks at a map. Prices are very reasonable given the standard, service and food.
Really lovely hotel, nice rooms, lobby is a great place to relax and full breakfast. The location is not central to Berlin but was useful for me as I needed to go to FEZ. Food at the hotel was good and reasonably priced.
I could not fault the hotel at all, excellent facilities, very spacious room and view onto the river. The only thing I would say is if you're on holiday to sightsee then maybe choose a hotel a little closer to the centre of Berlin, as this stay will cost you roughly €30 in a taxi.
