The room was clean enough a bit tacky but fine, but the toilet was way too small for 3 people and not very clean. Location is pretty good though. The hotel announced a car parking but if it is full they don't care much about you. The worse by far is the stuff, rude people, cold and absolutely not customer service oriented, it is very difficult for them even to say goodnight or to smile at you. We recommend you not to book breakfast at the hotel is not worthy the money, what you get is not so good and there are plenty of places around were you would have better service and better quality.
Spent four days in Berlin using the Zarenhof Friedrichschain as our base. It's a small competitively priced establishment tucked away discreetly on a side street. Excellent location for bars, restaurants and access to public transport. Our apartment/room provided all the comforts of home with sink, microwave, fridge and crockery. We had no recourse therefore to eat in the hotel breakfast room. The decor with its red and gold theme was cheerful. The reception staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. All in all a satisfactory base from which to conduct an exploration of this interesting city.
Akmal has some superb service skills. His service alone made me want to come back. He went out of his way to ensure I was comfortable. Clean hotel. Break is poor, not worth paying for. Decent location, 3 minutes walk from the tram.
Third time at this Friedrichshain (old East Berlin) hotel. Very good transport links - tram, U bahn etc. Situated in the old East Berlin, hotel particularly convenient if wanting to savour the old "flavour" of the area (now disappearing with gentrification). The area is lively with plenty of bars and restaurants. Schonefeld can be reached by U bahn and S bahn in about one hour. First timers to Berlin should maybe better choose somewhere in the Berlin Mitte. The hotel (together with 2 sister hotels) is Russian owned. The decor theme is in the style of pre-Revolution Russia with plenty of Tsarist photos and plenty of red plus Tsar's breakfast. Breakfast is perfectly adequate but not extraordinary. Service is effiicient and generally pleasant but can be a bit serious (don't think one of the ladies in the kitchen has ever been made to have eye contact with guests let alone display a smile -yet efficient). Room Guide suggests that linen is changed every 3 days. Never known this although everything clean and tidy. Although rated as four star, this is stretching it a bit. Wi fi ok generally
We stayed for two nights on a quick trip to Berlin with an infant. The U-Bahn stop is just around the corner and made getting around so easy. The hotel is surrounded by cafes and restaurants and a lovely area to walk around. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The rooms were large enough to accommodate our travel cot and all the baby items. Would recommend to others and would stay there again.
Booked this hotel as it was close to the venue we were visiting for the weekend( punk and disorderly) quiet clean and was adequate for our needs. Breakfast was ok ish the staff were friendly enough and we had no issues with noise and did not encounter any problems. They could of supplied tea/coffee in the rooms that would of been handy but on the whole ok for the price paid
The Zarenhof Boxhagener Straße is conveniently located near the corner of Warschauer Straße and Karl Marx Allee, two main axes through the eastern part of Berlin. It isn't a particularly fancy place, but it does the job for a business traveller. The breakfast was reasonable, although the hot drinks dispenser seriously drove me into the neighbouring coffee shop.
This is a quiet little gem. Tucked along a side street in what was East Berlin. Nothing fancy, but clean rooms and close to lots of cafes & restaurants. Price is reasonable too. The breakfast was good with very accommodating staff.
This hotel is well located for a city break in Berlin - the hotel is reasonable price, the staff really friendly and helpful - hotel clean and tidy. breakfast perfect for everyone's taste. Would defiantly recommend this I have now stayed their twice
We stayed in this hotel for a 2 night city break and were very impressed. It is very convenient for the City Centre about a 20 min walk to Alexanderplatz. The tramstop is at the end of the street and the U Bahn station is a 5 min walk away. The rooms are large, the shower excellent and the breakfast is well worth the money. Attentive helpful staff and would stay here again
