Came to Berlin for a week and stayed here. Ok place to stay. Room a bit small and compact. Had a balcony, which was nice. Be sure to buy your own water, as they don't replenish it daily. Location is great, right in the heart of the area, lots of cafes and restaurants and bars around.

This hotel was nice for a short stay. It is very close to a U-bahn station or is about 45 minutes walk from the Reichstag through the Tiergarten, which is a lovely walk. The breakfast was good. There is a Häagen-Dazs ice cream shop in the lobby, which was epic!

My husband and I stayed here for a week in April 2018 - Room only - so cannot comment about meals. We booked a full package with Jet2 and arrived after midnight after flight delay due to weather conditions. Reception staff member was sombre but dealt with us promptly. The foyer was impressive. There were two lifts to the rooms and an area out the back with seating and a water feature. We were given room 451, a superior room at the front of the building in the newer section, near the lift, overlooking the Kurfurstendamm. Lovely big room. Two single beds pushed together, SO comfy. Flat screen tv with a couple of English channels, lots of lighting and lots of power points. Black out curtains and an outside blind operated from inside, which had a bit of a mind of its own! Got up the first morning, opened the curtains and thought I'd gone blind. Lol. No balcony. Open space storage. Bathroom nice. Bidet. Lots of storage room. In bath shower which was good. Plenty of hot water. Toilet rolls provided often. We had a "DO Not Disturb" sign which we used in a morning and were never disturbed by cleaning staff. They were brilliant, coming at our convenience. They changed towels most days and bedding once. Whole place very clean and very quiet when windows closed. Had a great night's sleep every night - which was needed with all the walking and sight seeing. Wifi was brilliant - no problem (In fact no problem anywhere in Berlin). Our only gripe was the free safe in the room didn't work and after complaining to reception 3 times, to no avail, we gave up ! The area at the front of the hotel had tables and chairs and the hotel also housed the "Haagen Daz" icecream parlour, which was always busy. We did sample some - delicious! Opposite the hotel was a little place - "Kings pub" - worth a visit after a day out. Stayed open late and pleasant German staff. On the last day we were able to store our luggage in a luggage room until our late flight. We loved Berlin and the hotel California. Would return.

Nice hotel, nice position, big room. You are really close to the Bahnhof Zoo and the metro station Uhlandstraße. Not so expensive, friendly staff! You find all what you need there. The room is really big, the bed is comfortable and the bathroom is clean.

I did room only. Large room. Shower but no bath. TV failed to work after two hours and had no English speaking channels. Room basic but adequate and large. Wardrobe space plentiful. My biggest minus is the lack of WiFi in the hotel. There are some hotspots but few worked. The ice cream parlour downstairs is quite a bonus.

The hotel, being on the Kurfustendamm, is in the perfect spot for exploring or visiting pretty much anywhere in the city, and easy to get to by train directly from Schonefeld to the Zoogarden station. I took my 14 year old grandson for a long weekend and we enjoyed staying in the hotel and spending a few days travelling around the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, though there was a mild air of disorganisation occasionally. Beds and rooms were clean, bathrooms were adequately supplied and breakfast was fine, though there wasn't a huge selection. All in all, booking through easyjet it was quite good value for money and very satisfactory.

The hotel is well situated on the "Ku-dam" only a few minutes from the nearest "U-bahn" underground station. This made it easy to get around Berlin and visit all its main attractions. The shops of Ku-dam are just outside the hotel, the Zoo 10 to 15 minutes or so walk away, the Brandenburg gate approximately 45 minutes walk (but better to take the U bahn) and Charlottenburg Palace approximately 55 minutes walk. Our room, number 200, at the back of the hotel overlooking the central courtyard, was spacious and very quiet - we didn't hear any traffic and because this room has no immediate neighbouring rooms we heard no noise from them. All we heard in the morning was nearby birds. The bathroom was clean and adequate- shower only and no bath. Rooms were high ceilinged giving a sense of space. TV had only one English channel- CNN. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice of cooked and cold meats, eggs, cereals, fruit, yogurts, bread rolls, juice and coffee. Overall a good quiet hotel in a position convenient for central Berlin attractions and I'd recommend it.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Everything is around it - restaurants, shops, cafes, metro, buses...Metro station Uhlanderstrasse (U1) is just on the corner, there are buses going around. Breakfast is very nice inspite of same choice every day. Bathroom is having all you need. Room was superior, small but nothing else needed. Wi-fi working. There are only 3 things they should improve - reception staff, not welcoming you with any hello or smile, as they are not seeing any of the guests going around except if you do not approach them / I read some critics about the same problem and definitelly can confirm it/. Coffee at breakfast - one of the rare hotels, and this is 4/, not having at least machines for espresso, capuccino, what is now a standard at all hotels. Even if they put a coffee menu on the table that u can order and pay those kinds of coffee - will be totally fine. In this case u either choose to go and serve yourself that filter coffe or choose to go somewhere else to drink the proper coffee (if you have a time). 3rd thing is not having a locker from inside the room so hotel staff can enter your room anytime. On the last day I have just waken up /it was around 8.00hrs / when heard a slight knocking on the door and before I even came to the door - cleaning lady was almost entering my room. Seeing that room is occupied, she excused and went to other room. I think that cleaning of the room should not be so early in the morning. It will be fine if there is any lock from inside. I used "Do not disturb" sign after that.. All in all - I would definitelly come again to this hotel, just it will be fine if they can pay attention on some of these small details which can make our stay more comfortable as hotel is really fine. And enjoy in a nice ice-cream shop just next to hotel reception. By the way - go try Italian restaurant "Trattoria Venezia" and if u like Turkish cuisine - "Black & White Istanbul" in the same Uhlandstrasse near this hotel.

We stayed here for 5 days. The hotel is lovely. The staff were very helpful but did not smile very much. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The shower was powerful. They provide you with toiletries and fresh towels every day. Our room was cleaned very early each day. You get a continental breakfast and there is a lot of food to choose from. We did have dinner included on our first night. I wasn’t impressed by this. The hotel is well placed to explore the city as it is close to all transport links. There is a chance to chill out in the spa after a day of sightseeing. There is a Haagen Das ice cream cafe attached to the hotel. I did have some ice cream sundaes despite the minus temperatures outside. It would have been rude not to.

The Hotel at the top end of the well know Kurfürstendamm, within easy walking distance of the Bus station/Sban stops, with at regular distances Ubhan. We found accommodation very clean and comfortable. The staff were always very polite and extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good. A really memorable stay. So much we are returning to visit Berlin in June and staying at the hotel. Excellent value for money.
