I am so disappointed. I had calls until late but there was no room service abailable. Internet has also not worked so that created a real problem. The hotel is far too big and old style. I will cancel all my future trips to this place. Pls avoid
Clean goodroom, small bathroom, terrible waterpressure. Ok breakfast, friendly staff, excellent meals in various restaurants. The hoteland surroundings is on a long term refurbishing period, and it is noisy and workers all over. Thiss will off course bebetter in some months. The surroundings outside the hotel is terrible with construction workers "all over"..
Reasonable room which is modern, I did have to ask to change rooms as mine had an odour of someone who had smoked before, and that was after I had unpacked my bags d put clothes in the cupboard. The manager has kindly change my room but didn't apologise and neither did he upgrade me which was disappointing to say the least. The room is big, but in my previous experiences, most Berlin hotels have large rooms. Conference was on site, and the conference halls are massive. Wifi is reasonably good. I don't know why, but pillows in German hotels aren't that comfortable. But otherwise, the room was ok, food was nice.
I attended a conference in Berlin at the Estrel and I must say the hotel is breathtaking. They can cater from small to very large events. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a massive array of choice catering to any dietary need or want. Beds are comfy to. Really enjoyed this hotel.
Comfortable place, even if the location is not very nice, and far from any point of interest. The room was nice and clean, maybe too warm. The breakfast was very expensive, and quite basic. The staff is very friendly.
Room was a good size with 2 desks and several electrical sockets around them and beside the bed. Good storage space in the wardrobe and a full length mirror. Shower was good and an average hairdryer was provided in the bathroom. WiFi works well and the conference centre staff are very efficient. Unfortunately this is all let down a bit by the towels, which were old and threadbare, some with holes in them and only one very flat pillow being provided. The towel rail is also difficult to reach if like me you're below average height! The cooked breakfast was also below average - premixed mushy scrambled egg and overcooked, crunchy bacon, but the continental selection was good and the catering in the restaurant and within the conference facilities was excellent. Water is however at a premium: €3 for a small bottle from the minibar! Better value to buy a large bottle from the shop in the foyer but they should at least offer that in the rooms, especially as there were no drinks making facilities. Could be really nice if the bathroom decor, towels and pillows were updated, also the key cards were somewhat temperamental, which was quite inconvenient, but otherwise very nice business / conference hotel.
I booked the room on Estrel's website. The site is difficult to use and after submitting the details (incl. credit card) the page just went to the homepage and no confirmation was displayed or emailed. I had to chase it with the reception desk by email. The reception desk staff were professional but impersonal bordering with rude. Rooms were clean, modern and spacious. There is a good choice of restaurants and bars within the complex. They are decent but a bit pricey. The breakfast is absolutely brilliant - best I've had in a hotel. Worth the €19 price tag. Overall I find Estrel to be a pleasant and comfortable hotel very conveniently positioned if you are attending an event at the attached venue. It is far from the city centre but close to the airport.
The whole place feels a bit run down and in need of a good modernisation. The staff are generally friendly and efficient. There is very little in the way of atmosphere, it's certainly not somewhere to go and enjoy the quiet beauty of your surroundings. The rooms are quiet and comfortable although did get very hot and the air conditioning seemed to make a lot of noise and no cold air.
The good: useful for large conferences; extensive breakfast and meal buffets. The average: reception staff were friendly, the bar and restaurant staff couldn't care less and could hardly summon a smile. The bad: too big, dated rooms, lousy views and no where to 'escape' outside. The conference facilities are fine but only if utilising only one room; if looking to use more than 1 room then chances are these will be located kilometres apart - not conducive to effective meeting arrangements. The location in Berlin is dismal, with no decent nearby restaurants or places of interest. Close to Schoenefeld airport, but a 45 minute taxi journey from Tegal.
Quick trip to Berlin for a conference als taking place in the hotel. A huge hotel and conference location 20-30 minutes from down-town Berlin. Took 45 minutes with taxi from airport Tegel. The check-in was relatively fast but would have appreciated a little more kindness and welcoming from the staff. Got a room on fifth floor (I think the hotel has one 15 floors!). It was good size and well equipped with several extras. Good bed and clean and fresh bathroom. The only thing was that it was quite warm and even after trying to turn the heat down. The window was not possible to open, even not in a ventilation mode. A huge area for the breakfast with several buffés and is was needed due to the high number of guests and it worked well and the queuing was minimal. Well done.
