Nice hotel and area. Hotel clerk is very abrupt. I asked about the elevator. I said it was broken he said not it is being renovated. WELL isn't that the said thing. He then had me a read a paper a across the desk posted on the walk that it is being renovated. Ok yes But I can't read that far...really. When you are checking in it shouldn't be with a clerk like him. As gr Guest we are tired and some from another country. I understand that Germans are much most matter a fact. But if you would like to get better reviews get someone with a smile. He did help me carry up my luggage.that was nice.
I booked this place for the convenience traveling to Tegel, which turned out to be very easy. The building and area it's located is also very elegant and unique feel. Maybe not touristy, but certainly full of charm. Didn't have breakfast, since I left early for airport. After my stay, I read some of the reviews, and couldn't agree more with the front desk guy ' attitude. He was rude and gave the wrong info about the restaurants 1 block from his place. Yet, I suspect either he is Russian himself or he feels only close to Russian people. Because at the same, he was smiling and offering lots of suggestions for direction, with patience, to a Russian speaking family that was right there. So, if you want to imagine what's like living in old building in west building, and limit your contact to the guy to absolute minimum, then you should try this hotel. At least, the area is certainly love.
Beautiful period Hotel literally 10 meters from Kurfürstendamm, hotel staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful, some really lovely features, including the antiquated lift which is adorable. The room was very comfortable and spacious.
Never in all my years travelling have I ever checked out with of a hotel within hours of checking in! And it only took me so long as I was trying to find somewhere else to stay! When your door is patched with wood and it's cold, rotting windows and peeling paint, you do wonder where it all went wrong. Stay as far away as possible
We arrived at 6pm on a freezing Monday night and were 'greeted' by the rudest man ever on reception. He stated he couldnt understand my name despite me spelling it. I also offered the booking reference but he stated i dont know them all!! Eventually he found the booking and we went to the room. The room itself had lovely wood panelling and was very warm when we put the radiator on. The shower however was in instrument of torture with one jet that contained all the power and actually hurt! Location wise it was really good anda short walk to lots of restaurants but not many bars. Would still recommend as the rest of the staff were fine.
Administrator was jolly, really helpful and did lot more than he had to. Great location, public transport was very close. Lots of nice restaurants and shops nearby. Breakfast was good. In January with cold weather, it could be just littlebit chilly in your room.
눇Big really warm room very comfortable beds, great buffet breakfast everything you could wish. Very friendly helpful staff and amazing situation for seeing the sites and shopping. Style a mixture of beautiful old parts and modern furnishings, if going back to Berlin will certainly stay here again Down side nothing really maybe tea making in the room but there was a machine down stairs in the breakfast room. Bathroom small but being a beautiful old building it was a Pod style bathroom put into the room better than nothing and works fine unless you are very large !.
I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. It is a beautiful listed building, the location could not be better because if you walked out of the hotel, you were in a busy shopping street nicely decorated, full of Xmas lights and there was a Xmas market nearby. S- bahn or U-bahn within a short walking distance.Loads of places to eat cheap nearby. The hotel is right in the centre and if you want to go to Alexander square, it is cca. 10 minutes. The equipment is a bit old, the lift in particular but safe. Beds are comfy, we even had a comfy sofa in the room 23, the bedding is immaculately clean. The room is spacious and warm. In the bathroom there are toiletries and a hair-dryer, change of towels whenever you wish. Breakfast is lavish considering it is a budget hotel, a variety of salami, cheese, vegetables, fruit. A good selection of tea plus coffee. The reception people friendly and helpful. I would strongly recommend this hotel if you spend most of the time sightseeing but need a bit of comfort when you return tired in the evening.
Well, the only good thing about this pension (it shouldn't be characterized as a Hotel, cause its not) is the location. Really good. But for the same price you find many alternatives in the same region. I will start with the bedroom: mine was close to the noisy reception. You can hear everything: people talking, walking, coughing, etc. Oh yes, plates, forks and knives too. No black outs nor effective courtains. No views, no sun, and an annoying light in the garden which can bother you at night. The door key is something else. You will get how it works, after some 7 minutes trying with no assistance. The staff: they are probably Russian. The lady can hardly understand English. I think her German is no good either. The manager was the most rude and unfriendly person I have ever met in a hotel. I had a problem with an Ryanair flight (another beauty) and got there in the next day. The guy was more than rude and said "that's is not my problem". Even though I had an official letter from the company... Breakfast: regular to poor. If you get late you probably will dislike it. Stay away from this place, unless you have absolutely no alternative, which would be a strong bad luck.
No more no less. The room is clean, the bed is good, a proper breakfast all for a fair price. Do not expect more. But what more do you need when you're in such an area with all the restaurants, winebars, entrepreneurs & entertainment around the corner?! After all these impressions you just close your eyes and fall asleep. If you come in completely 'blank'; the info stand in the lobby will guide you and 'Ms & Mr Astrid' can also give you some very good inside information.
