The rooms were great and very clean. All the staff we met were lovely and extremely helpful. Had dinner in the Brasserie which was delicious and the place had a great atmosphere. Staff in Brasserie exceptional, especially Benedito who went out of his way to make our son's birthday memorable. Paul, the bartender and Reka, the waitress, were brilliant too, all very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Can't wait to return, had a fantastic stay.
We just spent 2 nights here on a weekend break and found the pre-arrival experience to be excellent. I especially loved the fact that we got offered a free drink (of anything!) in the bar just for booking direct with the hotel... it was the best price anyway so seemed an obvious route to book through. We chose off-site parking which was £15/day and only 5 mins walk away which worked great for us. Check-in was great... friendly welcome. Lovely bar/restaurant overlooking Windsor Bridge and the Thames, and really lovely room - although we booked a feature room and the one we wanted with a decent seating area wasn't available so we were given (confirmed in advance by phone call - very attentive!) a different room that had a balcony... that's very nice but in November when it's particularly cold it didn't really seem like much of an additional feature given how cold it was and that we couldn't use it... still, we really enjoyed the room anyway. Massive bed and very comfortable. On Saturday night though, there was a wedding in the hotel. For the most part this really didn't bother us... some of the wedding guests came in to the bar which added nicely to the atmosphere. But on Sunday morning things weren't so great... the breakfast room was completely rammed and even though there were so many staff on duty nobody really seemed that attentive. When we came in to be seated (and we could really have just taken a seat ourselves!) we were made to wait while the staff at the podium took payment from someone, but the card machine didn't work so we were easily waiting 3-4 minutes... while this was going on another guest appeared for breakfast and jumped in front of us and was seated by another member of staff even though it was clear we'd been waiting. The guest apologised but clearly didn't care. We then spent ages waiting for someone to offer us tea/coffee when staff were seating people around us and asking them if they wanted tea/coffee as soon as they were seated! When we were waiting to retrieve our luggage later on, the receptionist said it could only be brought to us from the luggage store by a porter. We waited nearly 15 minutes for a porter to appear, and then when he did come he couldn't find our luggage and had to take us into the luggage store to find it. The hotel was clearly busy, but I just find it a bit crazy that when a hotel hosts a wedding there is always some negative impact on other residents who are not part of the wedding. While I totally understand that weddings are big business for hotels, I don't understand how they never seem to be able to manage such events without it impacting on the experience of other guests in one way or another. All in all this is a lovely property and we really loved our room and the staff, for the most part, were really nice, but for the price we paid I think we'll be staying somewhere else when we next come to Windsor.
Superb lunch venue with seating that has stunning views across the river Thames and Old Windsor. Very relaxed setting, excellent menu and high quality food but most of all very friendly, attentive service. Our waiter Bennie was outstanding!
We stayed here for 2 nights before heading to Ireland. I requested to be in the new building and booked our room category accordingly. The room was very comfortable, immaculate and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. The only minus was we had a view of the office building right across the street and had to keep our curtains drawn or else they could see right in. It was only for 2 nights so I didn’t complain. I’m sure if I had mentioned it, our room would have been changed.
A first rate hotel with old world charm and excellent customer service. Situated in Windsor town centre on the banks of the River Thames it is close to all of the main attractions such as Windsor Castle, Theatre Royal and all the shops and restaurants.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The brassiere had a lovely view of the river. Sat by the windows for both lunch and breakfast, although table and chairs a tad low. Breakfast was a good aself service selection. Our bedroom was across the courtyard , very modern and tastefully furnished. Bed was so cosy I had a job to get husband out of it. The shower wax spacious, no complaints with the bathroom. All good. We phoned prior our stay to book parking which is £25 a day. Your car is valet parked round the back. Staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel, perfect setting.
I would certainly stay here again if only for the view! Our room was on the river side and our view of the Thames and Eton was excellent! The rooms were nice, good roomy bath and plenty of hang up space for clothes! Robes and slippers furnished. In room coffee and tea maker tho maid service sometimes left coffee or tea, sometimes not! You can always ask and get it . Be ready for stairs! There are plenty going every which way! Besides the excellent views available if you pick your room carefully, try the afternoon tea and dinner service in the restaurant. Dinner was excellent and the staff there were extremely friendly and courteous! No need to look elsewhere for dinner ! And a nice buffet breakfast was included with the room. A great start to a day of sightseeing in Windsor!
I booked this for a two night stay visiting friends. I was initially irritated as no parking was available despite contacting them several weeks beforehand to arrange, which meant we had to find the hotel then attempt to park somewhere nearby and walk back. Because of this reason alone I wouldn’t stay here again. I was unaware that the hotel is actually spread out over several buildings and we were in another building across the road from the main reception. We were then in the basement of this building which involved going up and down many steps and heaving bags through several heavy fire doors. The room smelt damp with an oppressive ceiling and was very plain, not what I’d expect considering the cost for the room. It was also very noisy and we had a lot of noise from the room next door who kept going in and out of their room slamming their door and the fire door. However if you had more considerate neighbours this wouldn’t be an issue. We ate in the restaurant one evening, ok we hadn’t booked but we were met with an eye roll when we asked for a table and given a terrible table by the entrance to the bar despite lots of empty tables through the evening. Food was ok but not great and overpriced for what it was. Seemed to be a lot of people using a Groupon type voucher. Breakfast the following morning was again average, but I didn’t appreciate the queue out the door for a table and no apology for the wait. They seemed very understaffed as lots of empty tables that needed to be cleared. Reception staff were helpful and when I loaned about the car parking on arrival they went out of their way to help us for parking. I wouldn’t stay here again. If you stay try and stay in the main hotel as I’d like to think that it may be better than the separate building we were in.
The hotel is in a magnificent location, right on the river overlooking the Eton Bridge. We stayed in the Ascot room which is in a separate building just across the pathway outside reception. Although we were taken aback by this, it turned out to be absolutely fine with lovely furnishings, great view, plenty of room for 3 of us and very quiet. The hotel is in good decorative order with extremely pleasant and efficient staff and is good value with breakfast included. Toiletries, bath robes and slippers are available in the modern and well equipped bathroom. We found this a very good location for a visit to Windsor and we visited the Castle, shopping area and went on a boat trip.
We arrived in Windsor after a 34 hour flight. We decided to stay in Windsor for a few days & then head into London. This hotel is so nice. We were in a little apartment around the corner from the main hotel. It was just perfect. We even had a view of Windsor Castle! The bathroom was very nice. So was the room, heaps of room for 3 people & the pull out bed for daughter. The breakfast was very nice as well overlooking the river in the main hotel. We are so glad we chose this hotel. Note: there are stairs to get to the apartment, but the man from the hotel helped us with our big bags.
