We were unaware that there was limited parking that needs to be pre-booked. This created a lot of stress as Windsor was very busy and there were literally no car park spaces anywhere. Apart from that, the hotel was lovely in an amazing location right by the Thames. The food was superb, as was the room. We didn't use the spa facilities in the end so can't comment.

First encounter was calling the hotel after discovering there was literally nowhere in Windsor to park, found the hotel car park but told we couldn't use it as hadn't pre booked space, which was not obvious on the website at all when we booked our stay, after driving around for an hour was advised to park 15 minutes away in a gravel car park out of town (here I will add our daughter was in a wheelchair) drove there to find that was also totally full, my husband drove back to the hotel car park and told them he was parking there whether they liked it or not, after wasting hours of our time they agreed. We booked an "appartment" I would use that word very liberally it was no more than a very outdated bedsit, no views of anything other than a grotty wall and carpark, very dated fixtures and fittings, extremely disappointing considering the main hotel looks rather nice. Breakfast in the sunshine by their river side restaurant/bar would have been lovely, however for some bizarre reason they told my husband we couldn't take food outside, I will add here they serve the public all day and night outside! Majority of the staff disengaged and rude. I can't speak for the rooms in the hotel itself but I would not recommend this hotel.

Afternoon tea was part of a day in Windsor for us with 24 in the party. Good points: lovely view by the river, excellent light fluffy scones and lashings of cream. Not so good points: no table cloths (?) A jug plonked on the table first with no explanation as to what was in it.Could have been hot water for our tea but sadly not. It was coffee. No-one had wanted coffee on our table so rather wasteful. Tea pots arrived without knowing what sort of tea. We were not offered any more fresh tea or hot water hence ended up with strong cold brew to finish the experience. Sandwiches were fairly unidentifiable, apart from the ham and tomato. No sign of smoked salmon or egg? Fruit tartlet pastry was like concrete and inedible. The iced slice of ginger cake was very dry. Did not try the éclair,. The staff did a disappearing act once everything was on the table. Lovely walk back on the path directly from the hotel terrace!

Stayed for two nights at this fantastic property! So unique and quaint. The staff were outstanding, the food delicious and the location fabulous. The gym was excellent as well. Would definitely stay here again. What a great town and so easy to get to by train or bus.

With 2 offices local to Windsor, I have stayed in many of the town’s hotels. Sadly many of them are not up to scratch and rely on the area to attract customers. This is not the case with The Christopher Wren. The greeting was welcoming and helpful - they carried our bags. We were upgraded to a new room which is not part of the main building but just over the road. I highly recommend any visitor to ask for these. Very large, modern, clean with a great bathroom and comfortable bed. Unfortunately I didn’t get to sample the breakfast - I blame the bed. I will definitely stay here again even though there are others closer to where I usually visit.

We had booked 2 rooms at the hotel to visit Windsor castle. We arrived early to beat the traffic and have breakfast before visiting the castle. Upon arrival at around 10 am we were able to book in but was way to early to take our room, but we were able to leave our cases and park the car in a nearby car park. The location of the hotel is fantastic, right on the River Thames and a 10 to 15 minute stroll to the shops and castle. After visiting the castle and a bit of shopping we returned to the hotel mid afternoon to take our rooms. We were given 2 rooms in an opposite annex which at first we felt a little disappointed not being in the main building. Once we got to the rooms the disappointment soon disappeared, the room was fantastic. The rooms were fairly new and were well equipped, the bed was very comfortable and seemed larger than a normal king size bed. The room was on the large size but not too big and had tea/coffee making a nice size TV and one of the best showers we have ever had in a hotel. Once we were refreshed we went to the bar to get our free drink and platter. We were shown to our table by Vincent who took good care of us. We shared a mixed platter which was more than big enough. We had good views of the River Thames. The hotel was undertaking some upgrade works, this you would not have known unless they had been pointed out by staff. The common areas were clean and comfortable with plenty of seating. We later returned for the evening meal which again was fantastic and again we were looked after by Vincent, by now Aunty wanted to take him home. After a good night sleep and another shower we went to breakfast, this again was fantastic. Booking out is easy and unrushed. All the staff were fantastic and very helpful and it must be said that the chef was superb.

I attended a wedding on Saturday and what a lovely setting it is, just beautiful! The 3 course meal I had pre chosen was lovely and the service from the staff amazing! The only criticism I would have is that the bar area for the wedding was manned by one young man. He was amazing and very friendly and very patient but at times needed help!! He also said as we were leaving at midnight that he would be back in 4 hours after he finishes to do his breakfast shift 😞 give that lad a pat on the back, he was a super star!!

I left this hotel feeling nothing but disappointment. I actually struggle to find something good about it. Once i checked out i sent an email of complaint as i didn't want to do it at the desk because we were celebrating 2 birthdays on that day. I sent the email over a week ago an asked for someone to contact me...I have been ignored. It was probably one of the worst hotel rooms I have stayed in. The bed can not be classed as a double it was half the size of the bed in the room next door. The bathroom cleanliness was appalling ! I went to have a shower and noticed black hairs all over the bathroom mat ! The room reminded me of a care home and is in desperate need of updating. I was intending to book this hotel for my parents anniversary gift but after my stay I am very glad I waited to book. The spa cannot be called a spa, the Jacuzzi does not work, the relaxation room is just a room with a few sun loungers in. The staff in the spa were very very rude and abrupt! For what was supposed to be an enjoyable weekend away for our birthdays turned out to be an uncomfortable, unpleasant stay at a hotel that clearly doesn't care for customer feedback.

My Wife and I Booked a couple of nights in an Exec Room. Right from the beginning the staff were at hand to help out, porter took our bags across the road to were we where staying whilst we parked the car nearby as pre-arranged. Room looked fairly new, very comfortable bed and great shower. We ate at the Brasserie in the evening, good food and service and Breakfasts great , just the pastries could have been fresher. We loved the location and the staff, and would recommend.

A one night stay with family. Check in staff were very helpful in adding a last minute put up bed to our room as we had our son unexpectedly with us. Not having much parking is not great but given its location this is understandable. We stayed in an annex across from the main hotel, but very nicely equipped. Breakfast was pretty good, with great views of the river.
