We stated one night. The soundproof between the rooms is awful. You can hear every step from the room above or from the hall. When other guest were walking in the middle of night in their room our room windows were vibrating. We thought that ceilings might collapse. All night we could not sleep. The shower in our room it did not work. Do not stay there.
Stayed here whilst visiting a friend. Olivia the English receptionist was friendly although the foreign staff at breakfast were 1950s eastern bloc service. Room was clean, carpets are ready for replacement. It's like a very old bed and breakfast that's not had any money spent on it for a long time. Bed was comfy enough one pillow and a quilt. Noisy from the main road outside the room. I went down for breakfast at 10am on Sunday - they told me 8-10am and there was a sign saying closed. The lady looked at me looking at my watch and let me in. Breakfast is in the Pizzaria restaurant which is part of the hotel and was a croissant and some fruit. There were also cereals. I tried the Apple juice from the machine it was very watery so I left it. Orange juice was ok. Shower room was fine bit of grout missing from floor tiles and no pedal on the pedal bin.
For the price paid the accommodation was reasonable. Yes it's not up to the same modern standard as say premier inn but it was half the price - however the bed was comfortable the room clean and the bathroom fairly modern although the common area was dated. The staff I encountered were friendly and the location handy for town Solo I'd stay again in a flash, but it's not a place for a romantic break.
Take off the tax and this room cost £50 for a clean hotel room in central Reading with free parking, free wifi, free breakfast with tea, juice, croissant and cereal, free tea tray with Cadburys hot chocolate and branded tea/coffee, free chocolate biscuits, free toiletries and use of an iron and ironing board. I don't know what these people expect for the money but this was a bargain. I spent all of 20 minutes awake in the room so that fact the decor is a bit dated and the corridor carpets are faded, who cares? If you want more pay for more, perfect for a night out to see fiends, I'd probably avoid for a romantic weekend away though if you have more money but hey. I'd rather save the money for drinks! I'll be back!
The hotel is a short distance walk from the town centre which makes the stay quite noisy with the hotel being situated on the main caversham road...The room was comfortable and clean but apart from the reception lady being quite pleasant and helpful , we found the breakfast staff rude and ignorant...Our good morning welcome was a grunt , there was no Apple juice in the machine that response when asked if there was any was another grunt , then they carried on talking amongst each other taking no notice and not being helpful at all...And there idea of a continental breakfast was croissant and toast was laughable ...Sorry guys won't be returning
Spent 2 nights here and was surprised at the size of the room. Lots of space and places for clothes etc. We had a room on the side of the building so road noise wasn't a problem. We didn't have breakfast the first morning, opting to have a lie in, the housekeeping team left us be and even placed replacement tea, coffee, and towels outside the room. It was a little noisy due to people entering and leaving and we did smell cigarette smoke the first night. Overall a nice place to use as a stopover and would defintely use it again but the breakfast is extremely basic. Tea/coffee/juice, toast, cereal.
Great location, 10 min walk from reading station and town centre, double room was old fashioned but spotless and a comfortable bed for a good nights sleep. Staff where helpful and there was a nice selection for a continental breakfast.
A piece of you will die if you stay here. This is a budget hotel that you will regret from the moment you arrive: - the rooms are pokey and damp - it has a feeling of dankness - staff must be ex prison wardens - it is dirty Spend an extra £25-50 per night and stay elsewhere
Excellent location, close to the station. Rooms are clean but very dated. There is road noise but not enough to keep us awake. Overall a great stopover place but certainly not a holiday destination! Breakfast was bland, definitely don't be excited about it!
if you are used to your Premier Inn standard, do not go to this hotel. It is cosy in its own way, but it benefit is the location that was just 5 minutes walking from my client. Staff was always really nice. Breakfast was a bit small for my taste.
