Arrived at NCP car park as advised by Hotel to find it charged £22 for 24 hours, I then looked for an alternative and found another NCP that was £6. when i checked in was advised that Novotel customers had discounted rates - why not put this on the website. Our room for a family of 4 was very small, much smaller than a family room at Premier Inn. After settling in went to the bar where the prices were well over-priced - 2 drinks at just under £16. After a meal in the town returned to the room around 11pm, however the noise outside (and we were 5 floors up) was unbearable, meaning that we did not get any sleep much before 5.30am. On checking out we complained to no avail, the only positive from the stay was the Breakfast. Next time it will be back to Premier Inn

I stayed at the Novotel for Business. The room is very nice and large. The shower and bathroom is modern and clean. I liked the bed as well. Breakfast was good compared to other hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The biggest issue is noise! I had a room to the street and after one night there you can understand why the hotel is providing free ear plugs. Even though the windows seem to be modern the noise level is too high. You can hear people talk on the street (early in the evening) and later shout and sing (later after some pints). If you are sensitive to noise ask for another room. I asked for it during check-in but it was obviously to late for a change.

I travelled to Reading with my two friends after work and so arrived very late and tired. We couldn't find the car park and Arnaud left reception to meet us, jumped in the car and showed us the way. He also ensured that we had a space. He helped unload the car and gave us an upgrade as we had so much luggage. They also booked a table for us at a local restaurant. Room was spotless and there are gym facilitates and a pool. It is ideally located for the station, shopping and restaurants. I can't recommend it enough!!

Pros: location (walking distance from the train station and Reading city center), staff ( reception and breakfast/restaurant staff was always attentive and willing to help). OK-ish points: cleaning, breakfast , the bed and the pillows. Cons: poor in room amenities for a 4 stars hotel ( no slippers, no bathrobes, no amenities kitt, no shower caps), no parking

I recently stayed here for one night on business having never stayed before but having stayed very many times at the sister property, The Ibis which is just next door. I've also stayed at Novotels in many places and have come to expect the Identikit experience in terms of knowing what the room will look like before you get there (the same is true of the Ibis). The Ibis was full so I stayed at the Novotel and I paid around 70% more for it than I've typically paid for the Ibis. The hotel is fine. Reception was fine. The room was fine. Sleep was fine. The breakfast was fine although I have a pet dislike of having to dispense my cereal from a machine with a rotating handle on it :-S None of it was anything other than 'kind of average' though and if I had to put a number on it then I'd say that it was about 20% better than the Ibis and, for the price, I don't think it represents good value either against that hotel or quite a few of the others in central Reading. So, it's an ok place to stay if you want to be in the centre of Reading near the station but I'd question why it costs so much relative to its Sister hotel - the value just doesn't feel quite right to me and I'd probably not return unless I couldn't find another option.

Our stay was as a birthday shopping trip for my daughters 9th birthday. Excellent location for the shops and restaurants and only a 5 minute walk from the train station. I booked with my Accor member card and informed them of the nature of our trip beforehand. The hotel went above and beyond to give my daughter the VIP treatment with lots of little extras that I did not expect and I cannot thank your team enough. My daughter felt very special. We used the swimming pool which was clean and towels were available. We also used room service which arrived swiftly with generous portions. It is in the centre of town and we had an amazing city view room with 2 large windows with far reaching views. We were not disturbed by any street noise from below. Breakfast was fantastic and my daughter especially loved the pancake station. We had a late checkout of midday and left our luggage with reception while we had lunch. Nothing was too much trouble and every member of staff we encountered was friendly and professional although I must say the blond gentleman on reception was exceptional. I didn't catch his name unfortunately. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend. Once again a big thank you to the staff from us both for a very special stay.

Stayed here for a weekend away with some friends. A nice modern hotel with spacious rooms. Our room had a double bed and a comfy pullout sofa bed. We had to ask for bedding for it but was sorted out immediately. Breakfast was delicious - a great selection of cooked and continental options. Was nice to take a dip in the pool & used the steam room too. A lovely stay - would visit again.

I went their on a business trip. The rooms are spacious and the hotel is very close to the railway station. Nothing seemed wrong on my 6 night stay. Except for only one trivial thing which was that there were no power sockets next to my bed in the room I was staying in. Tip: Go for a higher level room so you can have a better view for the city!

We stayed in the hotel because we needed to be close to the train station (Reading was not our intended destination). The hotel is very close to the station, 3 minutes on foot. The room was ready when we arrived even if this was at noon instead of 2PM. We got to the room and needed to air it as I do not think it has been used for a while. Tge only amenities available in the bathroom were shampoo and shower gel and nothing else. After requesting additional ones and bathrobes 3 times we received them. The one most horrible thing was how loud the room was. The road in front of the hotel is very circulated but the windows of the room were almost useless (to give you an idea, we could hear a pigeon outside of our window...pigeons are not loud birds). The last thing I have to mention is the housekeeping: the room had not been dusted in a while (cupboards and below the sink tablet), when they came they took two towels and left one instead and amenities were added only every other day. I am also wondering if the bedsheets should have been changed because we stayed for 4 nights and they weren't.

Stayed here 1 night for a work trip and would struggle to fault the hotel. Check in was quick and efficient, rooms were very clean, spacious and modern - I liked the split between the toilet and shower/bath facilities in separate rooms within the room (not so much of an issue when on your own but if you were there with a friend or partner...) Breakfast was very good in the morning - Plenty to chose from, hot and cold. Chilled out, quiet atmosphere. Hotel location is good - 2 min walk to the train station. Very close to multiple coffee shops, restaurants and the main shopping centre in Reading. Last word goes to the bar staff - We sat for a couple of hours having drinks (after being out for a few hours already) and they were absolutely fantastic with us. Very helpful, time to chat, couldn't come out to clear drinks from our table quickly enough and were very personable people. If I find myself in Reading again - I'll be back.
