Stayed one night and glad it wasn't two. Reception was friendly, room clean but small. Two people staying in room but only one towel and only one mug for hot drinks, had to request more of each. Shower didn't work, had to use small attachment with boiling hot water with no temperature regulation. No plug for sink which meant it was difficult for partner to shave. Dog barking outside for long periods late in night. Was offered breakfast but at £12.50 pp felt that was too much especially if only having toast or cereal On the plus side the bed was comfortable
Creaky floorboards but good friendly reception beds firm at high but i like that good car parking and tea and coffee well stocked in rooms shower nice and hot . Like this place will return if working in area.
The pictures and write looked very good but on arrival we were concerned to see that there was a lot of rotted woodwork around the windows and generally the exterior looked very tired and in need of some TLC. We were told that we had been "upgraded" on checking-in and this room was somewhat dismal and like the exterior needed plenty of TLC. The dining area and bar area was very nice and well laid out but for the cost of one night with breakfast an extra, it was too expensive. Would suggest you try the Travel Lodge just a few hundred yards away.
Stayed for one night on business. Room was fine, decent size and clean. Staff were friendly. Restaurant was decorated nice, food was good although slightly expensive for what it was. Breakfast was again good but a little expensive, no beams or hash brown let the full English down.
We stayed here for one night prior to our trip to Lapland UK which is ten minutes away by car. We had a single room which was a good size with nice furnishings. The shower room was lovely although we couldn't quite regulate the shower temperature, it was either freezing or burning hot! We slept well although the mattress wasn't very comfortable. There is a lovely homely lounge and a beautiful conservatory/ dining room which is lavish where we had a tasty evening meal. The staff are welcoming and friendly.
on arrival the building looked very nice, room was small but comfy and communal areas well presented all be it cold what let the place down was the food - £12 for coffee and toast! toast was cold and coffee awful but what really finished it off was the runny microwaved slop they served up in the evening in the guise of curry and rice, would not return, even a premier inn is favourable
Visually it's a nice place, although I stayed in November, not a traditional time for flowering gardens, but in Summer I'd imagine this is a nice place. I was working in Wokingham and this was the closest place I could get. Being on the main route into Wokingham it means a 4 mile trip takes 30 minutes or more. Checkin was easy, no fuss at all. It's all stairs, by the way, and it's an old building so they're narrow and winding. Luckily, I was on the ground floor, so no stairs. Unluckily, I was on the ground floor, because the noise from upstairs was massive. Creaking floorboards meant every into bed, out of bed, walk to the bathroom, walk from the bathroom was clear to me. Walls are a bit thin too so you'll hear noises from the corridor and other rooms. One of my neighbours was particularly vocal. Other than that it's a warm, cosy and comfortable place to stay. Beds were comfy, nice heavy quilt over a regular duvet, the usual teas and coffee stuff (although the kettle was a massive family sized job). It's a nice place to stay, noise notwithstanding, but not my first choice for a Wokingham stay.
I honestly thought "hotels" like this were a thing of the past. We couldn't wait to leave this place. The room smelled musty, damp and the carpet was covered in stains. The bathroom was worse. The bath plug was full of hairs and the toilet was just disgusting. Having eaten a light snack here and it arriving after half an hour cold yet burnt, it was the final straw. We tried to complain to the owner but he became abusive and accused us of lying to get a full refund ! Don't bother. If you want a good quality 3 star hotel there's a Premier Inn just down the road where we ended up staying, much better !
I've stayed here many times and every time rooms were clean and left alone to come and go, friendly staff. I've never stayed long enough to enjoy the breakfast but been told its very nice, would recommend to anyone, 5 stars from me and close enough to bracknell and pubs
