The staff are a credit here, the reception team member who checked me in was speedy and was an excellent credit. My room was a decent size with a huge bed and enough space to work, the biggest issue for me was the noise as my room faced the major junction (roundabout and carriage ways). I didn't notice the noise until I tried to go to sleep, I could here annoying boy racers until the early hours racing, I know this it's not the hotels' fault at all. I can't comment on breakfast, but room service was yummy. The gym was small but more than enough to do a decent workout while away from your regular gym. Note this is a hotel gym, there's no barbells or racks. But this was enough for me for the one day.
I thought the hotel was not bad and good value for money. 10min walk to town but good choice of bar restaurants in area. Room was fine: comfy and aircon good. Away from the bustle of town but close enough. Breakfast average - coffee not great! Staff friendly and everything clean. I would stay again.
15 July 2017. Spur of the moment visit due to lack of space at relations house due to building work. Stayed at the Crowne Plaza Reading before so knew it would be a comfortable stay. Executive room, very good facilities, view of the Thames. Delicious breakfast as always. Free parking a bonus. Helpful, friendly staff at reception and in the dining room, nothing too much trouble.
Stayed at the Crowne Plaza for one night only, not the best hotel I've ever stayed in and not the worst. The foyer is lovely, the bar area is big and spacious, there's a lovely patio too and as it was a warm night sitting out there was a great way to spend the evening. The bar is also reasonably priced for a hotel. The rooms however so feel a little expensive for what you're getting. I stayed in an executive room with a balcony. The bed was nice and comfy, the shower was fantastic, but the rooms do feel a little tired, a bit small and reality of the balcony is that you're sat on top of a flat roof with a red brick wall blocking any view of the Thames if you're sat down on the table and chairs. I think the room was about £230 for the night. Value for money wise I'm not entirely convinced it was worth it. Might stay there again if I ever go back to Reading, but would probably just get a standard room as the executive room feels a tad overpriced. Would be less critical if it was £180 a night. Then again all the hotel rooms I looked at in Reading were fairly expensive, so perhaps this is just the going rate?
So I came to stay over for the Henley Festival Easy to find hotel Great parking Good seating area for working with plugs at the tables - brilliant Eating and seating area outside right on the Thames operating boat services to Henley Spa and pool Great food menu .. different types of meat from beef, boar, ostrich Good service Rooms have a herbal pillow spray by the bed and homes/gardens magazine - nice touch Hairdryer hidden away but marked well for easy finding Windows that open Really liked it
very old dated rooms, furniture cracked and de-laminating, bathroom very dated and little done to bring it up to Crown Plaza standards, carpets around the hotel very stained and looked as if they should be replaced, restaurant area very out dated for a quality hotel, staff were friendly and did their best especially the young lady in the restaurant, food was ok and as expected, internet was very slow even during non-peak times, internet speed in public areas almost non-existent, outdoor areas a bit dated with paving loose and poorly maintained, fire alarm went off with no later explanation or follow-up
This was a good clean place to stay. Staff was extra friendly and extremely helpful. Room was great and location is convenient plus the view on the Thames was beautiful. Amenities are top notch. Would book again.
Stayed two nights and back later in the week fir another. Restaurant is the best food and service I have seen in a long time. Pleasant staff willing to speak and chat not just serve making you feel at home and part if a family. Prices too high for my last week in reading of four nights. Will very sad not to return. Place very suitable for lone female travellers.
A great located hotel right on the banks of the Thames. On arrival car parking is in a secure enclosure with automatic gates for entry and key pad entry to get back in and out. The welcome at reception was friendly and efficient. Rooms were spacious and clean with the usual tea and coffee making facilities. The bar and dining area was in the main foyer and opened out onto a large outside area with plenty of tables and chairs. Breakfast was an excellent choice of cooked or continental. All staff were very friendly.
Stayed here for a couple of night for work. Still annoyed that you don't get platinum elite benefits if you book through Expedia but that's an IHG issue. They still gave me an 'upgrade' which was nice, but I think that just meant a river view. Room was average size and average decor, nothing that blew me away but nice. Overall staff were friendly although a colleague had an issue with a rude member of staff. Hotel is right on the Thames which offers a great opportunity for a flat run if you get the chance. Breakfast was good and there are plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby for dinner if you want to eat out. A/C was good and the room was quiet and dark (2nd floor). Car parking is in a secure compound over the road and is free. Lots of space.
