I like their friendly smiles and the yummy cookies when I arrived to checkin.
This hotel is “tired” - needs a major remodel and upgrade. The rooms are not clean appearing but probably clean - maybe just old. Hotel is dusty and musky smelling. You could smell cigarettes walking down the hallways! Besides that the location is amazing, the marina is gorgeous and the on premises restaurant is great albeit a bit pricey!
Cookies were delicious. Jacuzzi and sauna were nice and clean. The water refill stations were great
The location is good. Parking and wifi are extra. It was not mentioned anywhere.
This property is a little out of the way but worth it. It sits on the edge of a peaceful marina with a walking trail. There is only one restaurant on the property and you are not really within walking distance of anything else. The wait staff at the restaurant are great (but the hostess desk people are a little abrupt). There is a small pavilion for snacks and grab and go breakfast items. It's nothing fancy, but it's adequate. The staff are generally very welcoming including the front desk and cleaning crew.
I liked the location of the property. I liked the room that we rented. However, we attempted to check in early, and were asked to return later. we returned as requested and were told that the rooms were still not available, but would be ready by 4 pm. We returned at 4 pm and the rooms were still not available. We did not receive access to our rooms until 5:45 pm. This was quite troublesome. Additionally the hotel is located in an open area, but the hotel charges an additional fee to park in their large and mostly empty parking lot. Most hotels unless in a congested city do not force customers to pay a parking fee.
Beautiful vista
Beautiful location! We loved it
pool and trail around property
Only desirable and accommodating hotel if you are visiting your UC Berkeley student
The location on the marina is serene and tranquil. There are paths for walking and jogging right along the waterfront. However the property needs maintenance and refurbishment. I could not find a working vending machine. There were large dryers in the hallway running the entire time (2 nights) we were there in the same place. I don't know what happened or if the machines were forgotten. The "pantry" was overpriced even for a hotel convenience store. For example, a pre made hoagie was $15. I purchased a hot breakfast burrito only to find out (per the sticker) it was made two days prior. I threw it away. Some staff were rude unlike our prior trip here. For example, we checked in using the mobile app. Later, I went to the front desk to get the cookies given at check in. The woman at the front desk questioned why I didn't get them at check in (I just got there) and why I didn't check in at the front desk (because that is what mobile check in and mobile keys are all about). But the next day, we went and asked if we could purchase two more cookies and were given two (not charged) with a smile. We also had an unpleasant experience at the Boathouse restaurant. We did not have reservations and were told it would be about 35 min, but the same size party who walked up right after us was told 10-15 min. When I went back to ask why the difference in wait time, the hostess was rude to me. Our waiter, in contrast, was attentive and engaging and very friendly.
Lovely spot. Wish I'd had more time to relax and enjoy it. I was staying on business.

Thank you for choosing the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Berkeley Marina for your recent visit, Aaron! While it’s great to know that our setting pleased you and that you felt comfortable in our relaxing accommodations, it’s disappointing that other details of your stay fell short of our usual high standards. We also wish we could have checked you in sooner, but in order to make sure our guest rooms fully meet our high standards of cleanliness, our housekeeping team needs enough time to complete their preparations. Additionally, you will find our parking rates comparable to similar lots in the Berkeley area, but we regret if our charge took you by surprise. Please return soon so we can work to earn another star or two.
Thank you for the high rating, we’re glad to know your stay was enjoyable. We hope you’ll visit us again in the future, Nicholas!
