Motel 6 Trenton ON2.0 out of 5.0

The location of this facility was good. The room was clean and the beds were just ok. My troubles began with the electronic device on the door that allows you to slide a key card. My key was glitching and even after two new keys were made for me, we had a great deal of trouble getting into our room. It took about 5 minutes to get any hot water early in the morning. We went out for the day on Saturday and returned to find our room had not been cleaned. When we inquired about it at the front desk we were told that the cleaning service said we put the dead bolt on our door when we left through the sliding doors and they were not able to get in the main door and not allowed to enter through the sliding door. I explained to the front desk that I personally locked the sliding door AND used the bar they provided then exited through the main door. I could not have possibly have set the dead bolt from the outside of the room. They were reminded of the problem that we had been having with the keys and perhaps that is why the cleaning service could not get in. The TV worked only when it wanted to. Loud overnight trains make it difficult to sleep. The AC unit smelled like mildew when turned on. Needless to say, this motel will not get my money again.
We stayed at this hotel for one night! And I found it to be very run down, on our way to the pool there was a big bay window and as you looked at it you could see weeds as high as 5 ft. There was a deck out there but the wood was all rotted out, you can see the back of the motel which was completely run down and all you can smell was the high concentration of chlorine from the pool which couldn't breathe because it was so strong as we arrived late after dinner we noticed that the blanket was dirty it had either pizza sauce or pasta sauce on it we made a complaint the next day, and the owner said you should have told me I would have changed your room! We explained to him that we didn't arrive till late in the evening and we were tired. He took $25 offer bill. I would not recommend this place to anyone for any price! It's dirty run down and needs a lot of work.
We attended late night while on our way East- Went to bed quickly after midnight and then the morning is when we saw issues - pubic hair in the tub on the "jets", money still on table from a previous guest, taps on backwards; hot was on cold, cold on hot, tv remotes didn't work. When I was checking out, I addressed this with the amazing front desk staff and they called their manager and I was offered a twenty dollar discount. I refused and said I would address it. Contacted head office. Got an email copied to both myself and the Trenton management; no response. I contacted motel 6 again; no response. So I wrote about my experience on twitter. I feel that they do not take ownership for their staff not doing their diligence with cleaning. No apology and twenty dollars doesn't seem to cut it for me. Absolutely appalled.
Having read the previous reviews for this motel, you might think my rating is the exception. But it seems to be an axiom of review writing that those with bad experiences are quick to get online and let their anger out. We ended up staying here because most everything in the Belleville area was fully booked. We met only friendly faces in all our dealings with staff. The room was clean and comfortable. linens were fresh. Fridge was great. Really I don't know what to complain about.
Don’t waste your money and your time, go look somewhere else ! The hygienic conditions are absolutely non acceptable. The AC was leaking and the floor was wet which resulted in a toxic smell. You can’t even breathe normally. In addition I found a big insect in the room without opening any window. We had to sleep in the car because all the hotels in the area were fully booked. The receptionist was very kind and offered me a discount because they didn’t have any available room but the owner is just rude ! she didn’t even say sorry or we will fix the problem. She didn’t pronounce any single word. She was just looking at me while I was showing her the disaster that we had in the room and then left before I continue talking. Again, it was a horrible experience !
We booked a room for Friday, July 21, 2017. The first room smelled like a cat litter-box. We went to the front desk and asked for a different room. The second room was even worse. There was a used kleenex between the sheets of one bed. The floor of the washroom was full of hair. We asked for and received a full credit and then found another place to spend the night.
Needed a bed to rest our heads during our road trip. This motel 6 did the trick in Trenton. Easy access off of the 401. We checked in late and the woman behind the desk was unfriendly and not welcoming at all. When we got our key I asked where we go and she pointed and said that way. I asked where we could park to be close to our room and she said front or back. Lacking any sort of customer service from what I could tell. We didn't even want to ask where the ice machine was. I worked front desk to front desk management in hospitality for 10 years. I get it is just a motel off the highway but some simple welcoming directions from your staff would maybe make the motel seem a little brighter. Would not stay here again... more caffeine and continue driving right past.
Arrived at midnight after having been on the road since 9AM and ridden my motorcycle over 600 miles, I just needed a room and a bed. That's what I got. One convenience, the siding door opened to the parking. This made carrying my stuff in from the bike very easy. The electronic door lock was in very poor condition and I had to have the night clerk open the door. He had some trouble too, but at 12:30am, once in I just locked the door.
Spent a couple nights at motel 6 rooms were clean and fridge worked. For the price no complaints. One thing it is close to the train tracks so if your a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Location is close to the downtown.
I originally booked one room at a rate of $69/night as I was told over the phone by the young man working my confirmation email stated $72/night for $3 I didn't care it was still a good rate. Subsequently I added more rooms as teammates parents decided they wanted to join us to a totally of 5 rooms. Every single family that checked in was treated rudely. When I tried to make conversation I was dismissed and spoken to curtly. Once we are all checked in the rooms were not ready/ poorly prepared. - room 141 carpet had not been vacuumed and there was garbage behind the fridge. The fridge had been turned off and thus had a very unpleasant smell. Someone had been eating sunflower seeds and had been spitting them out the glass door and the track was full of them. The sheets on our bed were too small and wouldn't stay on I had to request bigger sheets and the maid said she knew why I was upset. -room 151 when we checked in the fridge had been started to be defrosted and was full of wet towels! The freezer was still melting and dripping into a puddle on the floor. The woman who checked us in was called and said she would send someone to fix it. No one ever came. My mom ended up chipping the ice and cleaning the fridge so it could be used. There were pizza crusts under the bed which we found on Friday afternoon when the room had been cleaned wed, thurs, and Friday already. We did NOT ever eat pizza in the room. The tap in the bathroom leaked from the handle and over night soak and ruined cosmetic bags and hair products. Again this was reported and never dealt with!! We had to use hand towels and constantly wring them out to keep it under control. Room 157 had a lamp that did not work. The woman at the front desk was unable to just switch the lamp and after many words moved my friend to another room. I will let her send her comments on her own as I had to convince her to stay after her check in experience. The icing on the cake and the reason I am mostly upset is that on our last night there was an alarm going off on the hotel. After investigation we went to the front desk and reported the alarm that was going off was from the basement flooding. The young man informed me he knew that but didn't know how to turn the alarm off. At 3:00am I still had not been able to fall asleep! I went again and the young man said he would call the manager and ask what to do. I DID NOT SLEEP THAT NIGHT!!! On wed morning we tried to partake in the free coffee. I am sure it had been there for days it was horrible. After I mentioned it there was No coffee the next day. I understand that Motel 6 is not a 5 🌟 hotel but I don't believe a discounted hotel should equal inadequate experiences. I wrote customer service, they asked me to call to discuss further but they only wanted to clarify which property I was complaining about. No one from guest services will respond to my emails and when we called to discuss the matter Christine would not listen and told us because it wasn't a corporate franchise nothing would be done and hung up on us I have stayed in many Motel 6 and have never had this experience. I travel with my kids sports teams at least once a month 12 months a year but I will not be back to Motel 6.
