The Great House

It is updating the rooms but needs an elevator and a pool.

The hotel was nice, close to the beach. The staff were accomadating and friendly. There were multiple bugs in our room, harmless ones but there were a lot of them.

The Great House was perfectly situated in the Fort George area of Belize City, very close to the water taxis and tourist area of the city. The hotel room was perfect! We actually stayed in the room that was advertised on the website - the blue room. It had a lot of old world character - perfect for a bed and breakfast. They upgraded us from a queen to a king and made us feel so welcome there! The staff couldn't be nicer! We sat every morning on the balcony and just relaxed. One of the best things about our stay was the continental breakfast they provided next door at the Le Petit Cafe. It was wonderful sipping coffee and having wonderful pastries on our balcony watching colorful birds fly by.

The Great House is a charming old building, but there is really no place to go to relax. Our room was big and roomy but not much privacy since it was opening onto the main landing. There is no elevator so you have to get some help to get your luggage to the second floor. We were recommended not to go out at night because of the close proximity to local crime areas.

The walk along the water front is very nice and there are some good restaurants. Not too much else to do unless you take an excursion out of the city.

Was in Belize City for work and play and glad I choice the Great Hotel. Fantastic service, nice experience, safe area of the city and right across from the Radison Hotel. Stepped outside in the morning on the third floor deck area to the sun and ocean breeze. Whole place feels like the Islands. Not much to do in the area but can easily take a cab or short walk to Tourism Village and the main downtown area of Belize City.

Stayed there one night. Rooms are great, staff is helpful, air conditioning was cold.

Very nice. Different from your average chain hotel.

We decided to stay at this location for one night prior to leaving Belize. It is a nice hotel with a lot of history. Close to the water and Cruise ship port. This was a good place to go shopping.

They have the old TV sets . Room is nice otherwise and big . Breakfast is in a restaurant / cafe next door and the hotel gives you a coupon for 7 dollars . One hot chocolate was 7 dollars !staff is very nice . Location is ok too.

Clean hotel . Big rooms. TV is old . Room is nice . They need new televisions

Rooms are beautiful old colonial style with hardwood floors. Be aware that all are on 2nd & 3rd floor with no elevator. On the 1st floor is a restaurant (the Smokey Mermaid) and a bar/ wine bar which is beautiful to sit at outside if the weather is nice.

We stayed on Caye Caulker for the week and stayed overnight at the Great House Inn before we left Belize. The staff was very friendly and helpful . The room was huge! The only down side is that in the room next to us, the people were VERY heavy walkers. We actually wondered for a minute if there was a floor above us that we were hearing walkers, but there was no floor above us!

First, we would stay here again. The staff saves the day. Friendly, great help, fast response. Super accommodating. The place is very old, and probably hasn't been properly cleaned since it was new, 100 years ago. If we do return, we'll alert them that the room and the bathroom, especially, must be cleaned before we arrive. Separate restaurant on the ground level - really good food. Ambiance is plastic chairs, etc., but well worth eating there.

Well appointed (albeit 1960's era bathroom) and comfortable room in grand old home converted to small hotel. Staff was exceptionally nice and like most Belizeans, very polite and outgoing. Sand on the floor around the bed and in the bathroom apparently overlooked by cleaners. Unfortunately, hardwood floors and jalousie windows tend not to be good noise attenuators. Location is very safe and within walking distance (i.e. 15 minutes) to town center, which is reminiscent of most small sub-Sahara African cities.. Note that the restaurant is not part of the hotel and that staff acted bored and inconvenienced by patrons, either at the bar or dinner table. Although there were only two other parties, the evening dinner waitress incorrectly served two out of three selections and was quite miffed at being called out on the errors. Although high priced, food quality was somewhat ordinary.

The Greast House Inn is very conveniently located just on the edgfe of time sand opposite the big Radisson Hotel. You have a choice of 4 places to eat within a 2 minute walk so no taxi's required just to eat. You can also easily walk to the water taxi dock for the ride to the Cays. The rooms are are clean with a good size bathroom, but be advised that the rooms are on the second & third level with no elevator. Finally I've stayed here twice now and it offers very good value for money including free WIFI.

with Belize City being not so much of hit, this hotel is a really nice exemption and we had a wonderful time there! The location is great, the staff is very friendly and very helpful and there is beautiful garden restaurant with a bar attached to it. Great food for decent pricing - definitely will come back!

it was a good place to stay, a swimming pool would have been a plus, the staff did a great job, attending to all our needs, the petite cafe next door had a great breadfast, a beautiful view of those palm tree and the sea,

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Great House. The staff was particularly helpful. I would go there again happily.

This hotel felt like an oasis in an otherwise dangerous and run-down city. It is definitely more personalized and boutique-y than the Radisson across the street. We only spent one night here, but I wouldn't mind staying here again if I had to come back to Belize City.
