Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Decent hotel. Convenient to city and water taxis to get to islands. Nice fitness room. Two pools is a plus. Food at restaurants is very fresh and wide variety to choose from. Tasty dishes served at the 3 restaurants on premises. Most staff are helpful. Sharia at the front desk was amazing! She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and fun! Thank you, Shakira! I’d recommend the hotel for those who want an urban experience with access to the islands and other more tourist-centric experiences. This hotel is especially suitable for business conferences and shorter (3 day or less) visits to Belize City.

Rooms not bad, however building seem to be lacking maintenance, the elevator is noisy and smells like WD40, all the room doors are faded with varnish peeling off which gives a bad first impression. Most of the staff was very friendly except for one young lady at the upstairs bar, she came across as being in a rush and not very polite. The breakfast cafe was always out of one thing or another that was listed on the overhead menu, I stayed at the hotel for a week and everyday I asked for an item that was on the menu and was not able to get it once during my stay. Location is perfect and near everything such as banking, shopping and water taxi

Great staff, friendly and informative. Nice area and pretty quiet.

I was in Belize for a family reunion which also coincided with the Easter weekend. Knowing that I would have to work the following Monday, I booked a stay with the Radisson to ensure I could host video conferencing calls and all the other technology niceties one needs to work remotely. I was happy to find that my room was in the Villas and that the wifi in the room would be strong enough for video calling. The hotel was about half filled with everyone in the cays for spring break so I had plenty of quiet and most of my requests were met in a very short period of time.

Room was small. Hallways smell musty. They brag about sleep by numbers beds but remotes don't work. Pool deck had bare nail heads sticking up. Restaurants are terrible but that seems to be the norm for Belize. All and all a very 3rd world country. Flip side.. People are very nice. Even the homeless are friendly.

Rooms are very nice, except there were only double beds available. With three 6'1"ers and myself at 5'9," they left something to be desired. The restaurant staff were not very accommodating, but the food was good at both. Beautiful grounds and close to the outdoor market. I would not recommend walking around alone, day or night. Pretty sketchy folks approached us many times. Overall enjoyed the hotel, and would recommend it!

After 8 days of staying in Jungle Lodges and Beach Resorts, we were ready for a "regular hotel" in downtown Belize City prior to our flight home. There are lots of good restaurants on-site at this property, and the facilities itself is very spacious and nice, right on the sea. The room was typical/standard but comfortable. Our room didn't quite cool down the way we expected, but the staff was courteous and helpful and offered us breakfast as compensation.

But the city is horrible and there is no purpose to travel to Belize unless you study ruins. With possible excuse for fishing and diving. We dived next a week at Turneffe Island Resort. It is fine diving.

Marginal at best. Pool not well cared for. Staff not well trained.

Great hotel and wonderful staff. They made me feel welcomed and greated me upon my arrival. I will most definantly stay here again.

it was great.. i jus wish that the souvenir shop had a little more to chose from.

The hotel is somewhat older (they all are). The lobby is well cared for, the staff very efficient and friendly. The hotel is located on a "point' of land, just SE of the "downtown" area. The famous swing bridge is a short walk. The staff does a great job watching over things, including having watchmen on the property around-the-clock (which is necessary, as petty theft and pan-handling is rampant). If you are departing on one of the live-aboard dive boats, this is the place where you will meet. There is also a marina that can arrange local scuba trips out to Turneffe Atoll and Ambergris. If you want to do tours (Mayan ruins, zip-lining, etc), they have someone in-house that can arrange it for you. You can also walk out the main door, turn left, and there are "drivers" that can take you anywhere in their taxi. The property has in-house restaurants which are pretty good. They have pools which are also nice. You don't want to venture far from this place at night, as street crime seems to be a real problem in Belize City.

The Radisson was fine. Belize City is frightening and not a place to go. My boyfriend and I are both in law enforcement, and have a fairly good read on people. This is not a place to explore. We went for a short walk into town, or almost into town, we turned around after getting accosted by a drug dealer and a very aggressive "tour" guide. Our final destination was Amberguis Caye, and having never been to Belize before we thought we would spend a day in Belize City, mistake. Amberguis Caye is beautiful, and safe. I have not gotten any sort of bad feelings here. We have walked at night and ridden bikes around San Pedro and on the beaches. Skip Belize City.

The reason for our trip to Belize was to see ancient Mayan temples. The reason we chose the Radisson was because we figured it was centrally located. I've been to many Caribbean and Central American countries, so I consider myself a good judge on these trips. I always read travelers reviews with a grain of salt, and after this trip I can see what all the negative comments were all about. The Radisson is in the city, and Belize City is not nice at all. It is a scary place, the natives were not nice and down right dis respectable. On the way home from an excursion a group of men made sexually inappropriate comments to me and my husband, (talk about uncomfortable and frightening). The staff in all the restaurants were horribly slow and made you feel like you were bothering them. But again we went to see the Mayan sites, which we booked the nights before in the lobby, and it was very convenient. The Mayan ruins were great, but be prepared for very hot and physically tough hikes to get there. I'm glad I went to Belize, but if you're going for rest and relaxation this is not the country for you.

We stayed at the Radisson the night before the flight home. After 6 days in the jungle and 2 on a caye, a nice hotel was fantastic. We arrived about 10 am and got right into our room. Everyone was very nice, the public areas were attractive, and the room with a/c was quite comfortable. (The hallways are not air-conditioned, which I think is a good thing.) We didn't actually use any amenities, but the pool looked very inviting. If I return to Belize, I would consider using this hotel as a base and making day-trips from there.

on the water, clean, safe, good food, starting off location for other adventures in Belize, efficient

We stayed at The Radisson Fort George one night before our flight home from Belize. It was a very pleasant place for us. The people that work there were great, just as helpful as they could be. The rooms were clean and attractive, beds were comfortable, the Restaurant food was good. It is probably not as fancy as one in the US but was very nice for Belize City. We all had coffee and breakfast at The Petit Cafe and they had excellant prices and food. We would stay there again.

We were there for 6 nights and the weather was beautiful except for one day when it rained for a couple of hours. We used the pool by the stone dinning place daily. It was very clean and quiet around the pool. It was very relaxing! The jacuzzi was closed the entire time when we were there. The food menus at the hotel are very limited and it did not meet our standards. The nearby restaurants have better selections and more appetizing and quality food. The hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful.

The hotel is a nice hotel, in terms of the building and landscape, but that's where it ends. We stayed in the villa wing. This wing is not temperature controlled. All the windows were open and it was stinking hot in the corridors outside the rooms. Keep in mind this is Summer time. Also, the bedds are super uncomfortable. The front desk staff were not particularly friendly. Our safe did not work and we had no water pressure in the shower. We complained several times about both, but basically got the run around. We did get a portable safe put in the bedroom, but that defeated the purpose of a safe. I emailed the concierge several times to set up our excursions before arrival but did not receive a single response. Overall this is not a typical Radisson caliber hotel. Defintely not a 3.5 star. More like a 2 star.
