From the moment we started making plans with Ka'ana I knew we had to stay here. The reservation process with Anna was easy and effortless. They took care of all our transfers from the airport and off to Ambergris Caye. When we landed at the airport Eddie was waiting for us and was enthusiastic about his country and shared some great stories and information on our drive. Wolfgang met us when we arrived at the resort and we felt like we were staying with extended family. We loved that the resort property was small. Every staff member was friendly and chatted with us about our days and our plans. The breakfast options had something for everyone and we tried something different everyday. The same with dinners and cocktails, we loved them all, the flavors and creativity. We stayed in a Master Suite and loved the privacy both in the back and on the front porch. After touring the day and cooling off in the pool we would relax on our front porch before heading off to dinner. We slept soundly on the comfortable bed and the bathroom was spacious and had well appointed fixtures. Anna arranged all our tours and if you can, have Mr. Ben take you on the ATM cave tour. Do not miss it. They know what they're talking about by booking it first thing in the morning. Such a surreal experience with no one else in the cave. It was an amazing personal experience. We also toured San Ignacio, with Freddie, stopping for a hot sauce tasting while we waited for the Iguana visit and the chocolate making tour. We toured the Saturday market for some fantastic people watching and we also had lunches at Han Nah's, and Cenaida's. Would definitely stay here again!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt like a guest in someone's home. Every detail was considered. Wolfgang (as GM) sets the tone and expectation for what your stay will be like...Elaina (our butler) was most gracious and anticipated our needs. We took many of meals in the villa (the activities wore us out) and she was there every step of the way. Accommodations were top shelf and very unique (private dipping pool). Local activities included zip lining, cave tubing, horseback riding, catered private picnic next to the river, and Mayan Ruins exploration. The on-site activities coordinator made it all happen for us. Belize was one of the best family trips we've taken and Ka'ana was a big reason why.

After much time a deliberation we settled on Ka’ana Resort for our first of four destinations in Belize. It was our intent to rest after a long travel day and to experience some highlights in the area. We were picked up at the airport by a driver from the Resort (Andy) who we quickly bonded with. He was friendly, a great driver and because he was local to the area, he had immense knowledge of the area and wonderful recommendations regarding where to go and what to do. Ka’ana management kindly agreed to allow Andy to be our adventure guide for the duration of our stay. Five stars to Andy and Ka’ana for their great hiring decision! The Ka’ana Resort itself was amazing. It was centrally located to San Ignacio and many wonderful adventure possibilities. The staff, grounds, room, bar and restaurant were all first rate! After just four days, it was hard to leave the wonderful staff who we felt had become our friends. The adventure highlight was our trip with Andy to Tikal in Guatemala. I would highly recommend Ka’ana Resort as a Belize adventure base.

It was far away from downtown and it costs $10 US to get there each way. The food was just so so at the hotel so we preferred to go to town for dinner, much cheaper and much better. Hotel staff didn't tell us to catch a cab on the cab line would only be $3 instead of $10. Service is rather slow. Water pressure was dismal for shower even after the fix from maintenance.

We are just back from 4 nights at Ka'ana and had a wonderful trip. From the moment we arrived (airport transfer arranged by the hotel was flawless) we felt so welcomed by the entire staff. Wolfgang, the owner, greeted us and provided a brief tour. He is the consummate host! There are so many small touches that make this property beautiful and it makes the resort that much more special. Rooms: well appointed with wonderful linens and bedding. Robes are provided which is always a plus for me. I loved the decor in the room that made everything feel authentic. There is a tv with great selection of channels (although we spent most of our time outside I did like catching a Real Housewives episode while I got ready for dinner one evening). Shower was a little spotty but we made it work and it didn't spoil anything for us (we also didn't bring it to anyone's attention so no fault on the hotel). The evening treats were the best touch I have ever seen at a hotel. What a great idea. Ended everyday just right. Pool: pool was very nice and we took advantage of it one afternoon after an excursion. It did fill up and guests had to call for towels but it was very relaxing. The pool is small so if you want a large water activity pool you will be disappointed. We enjoyed ending the afternoon lounging by the pool for a few minutes so no issues for us. Spa: lovely and the therapists were great. My husband commented that it was one of the best massages he had ever had. Prices were nice as well after coming from the over-inflated spas in the US Restaurant: food was delicious. We loved everything. They had a special Mayan dinner that we really enjoyed. Fresh herbs and veggies from the garden on site is an added bonus. I've read some reviews that the menu was limited but we ate at the restaurant every night were were there and never tired of it. The veggie sides were great as was the selections. Service is also very attentive. They had a saxophonist in on Easter that was fantastic. It felt like a private concert. My husband actually dragged me out to dance (I'm not a dancer) during dinner! We loved eating outside as well and the water features were beautiful. Bar: I'm not a cocktail person but the cocktails were to die for. I looked forward to an evening cocktail before dinner each night. I loved the In Ruins and Down the Hatch. Miguel was the best and so helpful in making selections. A definite mixologist! Wine list was very nice and great bottle selection as well. Grounds: beautiful. We walked around in the garden, saw the chickens and sheep. Really fun! Excursions: Anna with the hotel arranged all of the excursions which took the hassle factor out of scheduling. She was great with communication as well so I always felt like things were taken care of. They are a little pricey but all are private and like I said you didn't have to worry about anything. Would definitely do again. Overall: A-Plus. Top Notch. 5 Star. We loved every minute of the Ka'ana Resort!

Seriously one of the best resorts I have ever stayed at. Personal attentive service, gorgeous grounds, fresh and artistically prepared meals. Clean and spacious rooms were decorated with local products, the soaps and shampoos were handmade in the area, a private patio to relax. The air conditioned rooms were amazing after excursions in sweltering heat! We really couldn’t find a reason to leave the resort outside of the daytime adventures. It is quiet in the evening which worked for us but it is a short taxi ride into San Ignacio.Thank you to the staff at Ka’ana for making this a vacation to remember!

Ka'ana is a beautiful hotel with wonderful grounds in a peaceful and enjoyable location. I highly recommend it and hope to come back one day. The entire staff at the front desk, restaurants and every other touchpoint was incredibly friendly, helpful and funny. They made me and my family feel like we were part of their family. It's a wonderful place to stay!

My husband and I stayed at the Ka'ana Resort middle of March for 4 nights. When we first arrived the resort looked amazing. It is right next to the hwy but we were willing to put that aside. We stayed in Villa One and upon our first look it was breathtaking with our own private plunge pool and huge eclipse doors to open the room to the outside. The excitement of the room soon dwindled as there were a ton of dead bugs on the bed. In particular at the head of the bed where the pillows are. We brushed them off thinking ok not very nice but..... We came back after dinner and they were back? We looked around and saw that there were bugs coming up through the electrical outlet that was on the floor. We called housekeeping and they came and looked and tidied up a bit and we switched to sleeping with our heads at the end of the bed. We also ended up taping the electrical outlet with band aids to hopefully reduce the amount of bugs coming in. They ended up being in my suitcase which was not on the floor but on a dresser. There were worms crawling throughout the bathroom and on the walls of the bedroom. They came and sprayed pesticides outside the building which was also not a nice thing to have done. I even asked if they were going to do this because we wanted to switch rooms if they were but they said no they would not. Once you stayed in the room for a while you could see that the room was run down and was not so amazing anymore. You couldn't have the eclipse doors open as even more bugs would come in. There were windows but with no screens so you couldn't have those open either. We were left with a very loud air conditioner. I know we are in a "jungle" type setting and there are going to be critters but this was way too much especially when you are paying over a $1000.00 per night. We stayed further in the jungle three nights prior at Mystic River and it was gorgeous. No issue what so ever. Perhaps the other rooms do not have this issue but the Villa Suites are definitely not worth it at the rate they are charging. Management did not deal with this issue before we left and I even wrote down on their comments the issues we had and I did not hear back from them which has led me to this review.

We had such a great stay at Ka'ana and were so impressed with the entire staff. They were so incredibly friendly and made such an effort to get to know their guests. Not only did my husband and I love this resort but so did our 3 year son. We were able to check out the small farm and animals on the property and the team was so gracious about letting him go back the next day to hang out with the chickens again. The arranged activities were wonderful and the guides were terrific. The restaurant was excellent and had nice options for us as vegetarians. We truly thank the entire staff at Ka'ana for such a great stay in a beautiful part of Belize! We hope to be back someday!

From the time we arrived at Ka’Ana and were greeted with cool towels and refreshments we were treated like family. The staff is so attentive and friendly and the lodging has so many details that show off the beauty of the belizian jungles we had a difficult time leaving after our two day stay. Wolfgang and his staff attend personally to all details of the stay.
