The staff was very friendly and the receptionists spoke English very well. It takes about a 2 minute walk to reach a very popular hutong area and 3 mins to a subway station. It was a perfect location for all the tours we took and just a casual walk. The atmosphere is very traditional instead of a rich american looking hotel which I really enjoyed. They had a restaurant, some snacks, drinks and souvenirs all at easy access and 24/7 reception. Overall great cost and hotel!

It looks good on the outside, the room was the problem, it was tiny, dark with one small window that faces a brick wall, the shower floods the entire bathroom as there is no tray to direct the water, there was Wifi in the lobby and courtyard but no service at all in my room (217) for the price (450¥) you can stay somewhere much better, the walls are thin and you can hear people talking at a normal volume next door. Yes it is in a Hutong, yes it authentic, but this room should not be the standard for this price. Quite disappointing.

The free breakfast was incredible, as far as free stuff goes. Good combination of western and eastern breakfast. Though the coffee isn't great, there's a coffee shop next door that is truly world class, if a little expensive. Location is truly amazing. 5 minute walk to Line 6 and Line 8, and tons of great food, bars, and shops within a short walk in the hutongs. Staying in the hutongs makes one feel that they're experiencing "real" Beijing instead of a touristy western hotel somewhere. And because of the hutongs, you don't hear big city street noise, so very pleasant to sleep at night. Everything functioned as it should - air conditioning, power outlets, plumbing, etc. This should go without saying, but at this price point and in China, it's actually a luxury!

I took a solo trip to Beijing in off-season November. I stumbled upon Lusongyuan Hotel during one of my many visits to Tripadvisor as I planned my trip. I could not have been more pleased with my hotel selection. Here are my Pros and Cons: Pros first: >As many reviewers have stated, the location is outstanding, and is the property's best attribute. Easy access to the metro, buses, shopping and restaurants. Easy to navigate to most of the “tourist” spots. Some are within walking distance (Bell and Drum Tower, Lama Temple). The historic nature of the Hutong makes for a pleasant experience. You do not feel like you are in the middle of huge metropolitan area. >Excellent front desk staff that adequately communicate in English. They went above and beyond in helping me communicate with my tour company. >Breakfast was included in my rate and I enjoyed the Chinese offerings each day. Although they offered western breakfast options, I can’t imagine why one wouldn’t partake in the local favorites. >The room was small, but comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Housekeeping did a nice job each day. I did get to see other rooms, which appeared to be spacious. However, for a single traveler who only used the room to sleep and bathe, it was perfect. Nice touches included a bathrobe, slippers and bottled water. Note: I did see other rooms which were significantly larger than mine, and those would be very comfortable for a couple. Cons: Not many to mention. The smallish bathroom is what some refer to as a “wet” bathroom. The shower had a curtain, but is not separated from the rest of the bathroom. Thus, the floor tends to get wet. Tips: I had the most fabulous Peking Duck at Siji Minfu Roasted Duck restaurant (Dongsi 10th Alley location), which is a short bus ride away from the hotel. Also, had great Jian Bing close by the hotel on the east side of Jiaodaokou Street. Bottom Line: I would certainly return to Lusongyuan Hotel, and am happy to recommend it to my fellow travelers.

It was my second time staying in this hotel, though there's a bit of walking to the nearest subway station (approx. 10mins), but it make up for everything in the room. The LCD television have more hundreds over channels, the bed is cosy, the toilet is clean, every design in the hotel has a historical touch. You can find food easily around the place, and after nanluoguxiang complete its renovation in December, I am sure it will certainly make the hotel even more attractive! :)

Located in the old hutong area of Beijing helps you imagine what it used to be although just down the lane is a very modern night market with food and shops. The room was snug with 4 post bed and light screen curtains and comfortable fold up bed for our teenage daughter. Loved the wooden phone and porcelain kettle - wish I could have brought both home! Breakfast better if you can appreciate the Chinese style of breakfast.

My room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. If you are from the west, this is an Asian style bed so it's a stiff board with a thin silk pad, so if you are looking for a full fluffy pillow-top mattress this isn't for you. The courtyard is really nice and we met some other interesting people visiting Beijing. The location is great if you like to walk to places. There were plenty of restaurants and such within a pleasant walk.

I stayed 4 days at the Lusongyuan Hotel. I loved the convenient location. My room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good and I enjoyed eating in the lovely courtyard. The nearby shopping area was great--fair prices without haggling. The subway is just around the corner and is very easy to navigate. Note-taxis cannot access the alleyway that the hotel is on. They will drop you at the end and there is a short walk to the hotel. The hotel staff arranged for my taxi pick up to the airport at the same corner.

Stayed in room 501 for two nights. Got here from Trader's Hotel via a huffy taxi driver who basically drove with GPS instructions and we missed a turn. As noted by other reviewers, this is hard to find as its in very narrow residential area, so print a map. about 30 mins from the nearest MTR -nanluoguxiang. Room was fine for 1 person, double bed surrounded by wall on 3 sides. bathroom was bit dismal but clean, its a wet shower with an uneven floor so whole bathroom floor floods. Towels, bathrobe, slippers, toothbrush and toiletries provided, but water pressure is low so loo isn't mentally comfortable. Had cold showers both days, despite the sign saying the water will turn hot after a few minutes. Appreciate the cheap beer, and quaint surroundings and Chinese 'antiques'. Breakfast looked poor value and I found better fare just turning left and walking for 5 mins. Checkin was straightforward, no lifts but the stairs are quite wide. Wifi worked very well and bed was nice and firm for me. Slightly miffed that the room-clean was poor, bed wasn't made, robe wasn't hung up and empty beer bottle wasn't taken away. won't stay again as I do like a hot shower, plus the price was just RMB100 more than Trader's hotel on a room + breakfast deal, so feel this was bit poor value. I can imagine it very cold in the winter, in fact it was 25 degrees outside, and I didn't even feel need to switch on the airconditioning owing to the stone walls being very cool.

Not sure why this isn't higher on the rankings. The location is great - in a historic hutong, close to the subway, right near a major tourist street, but secluded enough to be quite. Price was pretty incredible, and they sold cold drinks for cheap and included breakfast. Breakfast was varied every morning slightly, with both Chinese and Western options. And the food was pretty tasty. The room was not large but was comfortable. The only downsides we noticed were that the carpets in the halls looked a little worn (the room was fine). And as someone else noted the pressure in the bathtub was a little low. Shower was fine/good, but tub took a long time to fill up. That's the only bad, and not really that bad when considering the upsides.
