Crowne Plaza Hotel Beijing Wangfujing

4.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Rooms were large, location is very good, just a short walk to beginning of Wangfujing, so lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. Only issue is while most Crown Plazas in Asia are 5 star hotels, this one at best is 4 stars because it was pretty old and showed it.

We booked in 5 star hotel but we where disappointed with the rooms. We had two rooms and the rooms are completely outdated for a 5 Star hotel. No walk in shower an the rooms look old. We requested to get different rooms to have better matrasses to sleep in the first rooms the mattress was very hard and old. the staff was very nice and helpful but again the rooms are not up to standard for a 5 Star, we got told the Hotel is 30 years old. Which is not my problem when we book a 5 Star Hotel. For example we stayed also in the Sun World Hotel which is only 4 Star which is opposite from the Crowne Plaza the rooms are the same only the Hotel cost less. The Chefs in the Kitchen could improve as well.. Again it was a pleasure dealing with the Staff, they cannot do anything about the quality of the rooms that they are outdated. management should do something to update.

Very friendly staff.... Always available to assist in anything. ..

Very good experience in general. However, we didn't see much greetings from hotel staffs especially from restaurant except the noodle lady. We have stayed for 8 nights and the only person greeted us was the noodle bar lady from the buffet restaurant. I recommend this hotel because of its location.

This hotel is fantastic. It is a 5 star hotel within walking distance of the shopping and sites in downtown Beijing and the price was right. The room was great, the service was great and the breakfast was great. You can't go wrong here.

You cannot find many better placed hotels to discover the city. Wangfujing street is rush and modern. Moreover, it is just next to the Forbidden city. On the other hand, the chinese restaurant in the hotel could be better and buffet is pretty expensive but offers nice choise of dishes.

We were in Beijing to see the major tourist sites and do some shopping. The Crowne Plaza Wang Fujing was within walking distance to the Forbidden City, Tian'men, lots of Houtongs, and the shopping district. It may have been easier to be a little further south on Wang Fujing to be closer to these sites as well as a subway line for quicker access to more sites. The staff were helpful in arranging tours, shows & activities. The pool and gym were ok. The Chinese retaurant was one of the kids' favorites but the food was more like the Chinese food you would get here in North America. The breakfast buffet was pretty good but pricey.

Room was small. Staff was good. Great Wall trip very good.

Wonderful location walking distance to forbidden city

The hotel was great with good services, very helpful staff and close to all the best bits of Beijing.

They can further improve- 1. I will appreciate some Free- Computer use (30-45 minutes/day), in a better chair and desk type comfortable mode to screen our essential personal e-mails and news sites every day. 2. Without Service fee- Currency exchange by the hotel front desk (up to $300/day, as permitted by the govt.) They have an auto exchange(ATM LIke) with 4% fee, not so good. My Xian Hotel experience was better in these two points then CP, at WFJ

I was in Beijing for business meetings. The hotel had everything I needed including an exercise room. The hotel breakfast is excellent. This is important since there are few good options in the immediate area. This is a very comfortable hotel in a great location. The staff is very helpful. Wireless is free in the lobby where there are lots of comfortable chairs. Many of the important Beijing sites are close by.

The hotel was comfortable, clean, and fun to hang out in, but the reason to stay in the hotel is its location. We left early in the mornings and returned at night, walking around all of downtown Beijing and the tourist sites. The staff was very accommodating and the travel desk had some great packages. The hotel was not as glitzy as four-stars in other cities, but compared to other Beijing hotels, it was great.

When I asked the desk clerks about the proper way to tip the food servers I was told to just hand them money which we did. After we checked out we found that a 15% service charge was added to the price of the meal under a mans name. We ate several meals and only once did a male wait on us. Otherwise they were all female servers. Maybe I expected too much when I expected the prices to be lower (since it was China) but was surprised to find out that the breakfast buffet was $31.00 a person. Also, internet services were added and local phone charges to get online and that would not have been a problem but we were told that the service would be free.
