Highly recommend the afternoon tea really delicious selection of cakes and lovely traditional scones and creams very generous selection and Rob was absolutely excellent couldnt have been more helpful and made the whole experience all the more enjoyable.. I took my mum as a birthday present and we had a really wonderful time.
Great location easy parking albeit limited very impressed with hotel all round pity there's not more around the country like this. Easy for town centre Restaurants and Pubs. Very good staff both at reception and breakfast which too was good impressive poached eggs.
Great stay! I come here every time I am in Luton! Room is always clean and tidy, good selection in the bar and restaurant, overall the staff are very professional and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Can’t recommend highly enough- people make the stay even better!
Near the train station and the University, competent if quirky (you don't often see scooters in aquaria), with meeting rooms etc. Restaurant good for the evening meal, and excellent for breakfast - I wish I hadn't been so busy.
Everything good, except the Shower. It always takes about 10 min until the water rises warm enough for showering. Very friendly staff and the rooms are quiet and comfortable. Very good Restaurants around the Hotel.
Well co-ordinated between the reception, events & restaurant teams. Well appointed hotel & rooms although the bedroom was tricky to get to a comfortable temperature. Meeting room was good & ticked all our boxes. The food in the restaurant was fine & the service was attentive. Parking was free.
This was our final stop on our whistle stop trip around England, visiting family in the UK for Christmas, My wife and I began our trip in Luton because my parents live there and our plan was to end there to say goodbye before returning home to Los Angeles. The first hotel in Luton that we stayed in was not good and so I was determined to find something better on our return. Being that we have three major international trips coming up in early 2018 our budget was also a concern. Upon researching Trip Advisor, I settled upon the Icon as the reviews were good and the location was perfect, and the pricing was reasonable. It is also walking distance to the town center and less than ten minutes from my parents house. (No room at that inn unfortunately). It is also on the major thoroughfare that runs through Luton so very easy to find. The Icon is also very close to some of the best Indian restaurants you'll ever eat at- just use the underpass by the hotel and you'll be right there. Parking at the Icon is very tight, and getting into the parking lot has a goofy system where you have to stop your car, but you can't get close enough to the intercom so you have to get out of the car, blocking the street to call the reception to open the barrier. I was honked at while trying to get in. The first thing you notice when you enter the Icon is that the decor is quite unique, modern chic Italian style. There is some great artwork on the walls that is fun to look at. Mostly following music and sports themes. Check in was fast and efficient, you get the sense that staff here are well trained and professional. I noticed that many of the guests that stay here are the air crews from Luton Airport, so that was reassuring as I'm sure airlines tend to expect a certain quality standard for their pilots. Every time we came and went the staff were always friendly and courteous, offering to help with luggage etc. If there is one thing that the Icon does well, it is customer service. The most important thing about any hotel is that you get a good nights sleep, and it does seem that Icon has invested in comfortable mattresses and there is a choice of pillows depending on wether you like firm or softer. Also despite being next to a main road, there is enough soundproofing to all but knock out the traffic noise. In sleep quality the Icon hotel delivers. The room although quite small, had all the facilities one would need and plenty off power outlets for charging devices. Hotel Wifi is plenty fast enough for the average traveller. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We were on the ground floor and so we were pleased to see that the window was frosted glass and as such one can enjoy privacy and natural light at the same time. However I did have a couple of minor peeves with the room. The bathroom had no shelves to put your products, shavers, etc. As guy I travel light in that department, but my wife with all her potions had nowhere to put them. There isn't even a simple shelf where you can just set a bag of bathroom products. There also isn't all that much desk space in the bedroom to be able to use that instead. Also in the Bathroom you might want to move the towels outside while you take a shower as it has an open shower concept- no curtain, no door, nothing to stop the water from getting anything the bathroom wet. I didn't use many of the facilities since the hotel was really only a bed for the night while we hung out with friends and family. I did get a latte one morning and I probably wouldn't do that again- it was expensive, small and lukewarm served from a barista machine, better off popping across the street to a coffee shop, or if you don't have time maybe just order a brewed drip coffee instead. I will say though that the bar does have a couple of nice scotch whiskey's that I did partake in one evening. For the most part the Icon hotel is a great place to stay if you are in the area. I'd say that it's probably more suited to the business traveller than the leisure traveller. It's clean, well maintained and comfortable, with staff who are really responsive to customer needs. There are a few minor niggles, but nothing that would put me off from staying here again.
I was taken there by my friends for afternoon tea. We were a fairly rowdy bunch including 3 small children. The tea was lovely but the most impressive thing of all was two members of staff, Rob and Marco. Rob took time out to make sure the children were catered for. He took time to chat to them and didn’t even mind the noise. Nothing seemed to much trouble for either of them. So to sum up, the food was very nice but the staff exceptional.
Excellent staff, nice decor, great location, but really let down by heating, bar/ restaurant freezing, diners had to leave their coats on, no heat on in our 2 rooms, although we were provided with plug in heaters, overall we could not return based on our experience.
This hotel is ideally situation for easy access into the centre of the town. Service is good and nothing is too much trouble each member of staff wishes to make your stay as good as it can be. Rooms are clean and comfortable, evening turndown service, Breakfast is good and buffet style. The restaurant offers a reasonable dinner menu selection.
