This was our first time staying in a Parador. The location was fantastic but the hotel was dated. Overall, it was one of our least favorite hotels on our trip to Spain.
We had an early morning flight and stayed because hotel is less than one mile from San Sebastian Airport. However, we found it is a beautiful historic property with magnificent hilltop view of the harbor. Sits right on plaza in charming walled city. Excellent restaurants are within walking distance. Staff consistently helpful. Set out breakfast for us even though we were departing before breakfast hour. Only negative: Rooms only had ceiling fans, did not appear to be air conditioned.
A night in an ancient castle. Fabulous experience. Excellent room, great views. They went out of their way to see that we could have some breakfast before our early morning flight. We loved this place.
Everyone should stay at a 10th century castle once in their life. Not cheep but Highly recommended.
The word unique is one I never like to use but this building has so much character to it that I will stay there again. The high castle walls surrounding the breakfast area make for a delightful experience in the morning and the hill top location provided me with a beautiful view of the bay. The staff was friendly and helpful. I say a rare thank you to the dictator, Franco, for converting this into a hotel.
