This is the 4th time we have stayed at the Copthorne. Not sure how we got it but had a lovely room at the end the block with a private deck and lovely outlook across the bay. Very comfortable bed, quiet environment. The internet was pretty slow but otherwise a great stay
Great hotel, great service, and fabulous room. We hired their bikes for $25.00 per half day and as i hopped on i noticed the front wheel was wiggling. On further inspection, we discovered the front wheel nut was only hanging on by a thread!!. Had i continued riding i would have had a serious accident. Maybe a policy in place to check the bikes before renting them out will save a serious accident.
Absolutely stunning views of the bay from our room, bar and restaurants was Ok, had a lovely meal Seafood platter was best we had. Bar was a bit bland but i guess standard for this type of hotel. Literally next door to the treaty grounds , which is a must do. and a 20 min walk to town but there is a shuttle bus during the day
My wife and I stayed at this property in February of 2017 while on a tour. While it was an OK facility the food was substandard and so was the service. One of our traveling companions slipped on some grease on the floor during breakfast. It clearly indicated that management was not on top of their game.
This place has lifted it's game. I asked if they had a new manager and was apparently right. We stay here regularly and you could tell immediately, staff are happier and much more service orientated. Service was pleasant and prompt. Still some things to work on i.e. waitress went round breakfast room wiping tables with the same dirty cloth on up to 11 tables , lovely baby grand piano covered in thick dust the whole of our stay, training in food safety and hygiene needed, especially as it was busy. For the first time in ages the room was clean, no cob webs draped from ceiling and house keeping staff were very pleasant. Hopefully improvements continue. Also menu way better, even caters for vegetarians now!
Nice setup of the hotel, nice location and garden. BUT run down, many group travellers. Old furniture and carpets. Located a bit outside of Paihia (no working distance to shops, restaurants) Own restaurant good
We couldn't fault the friendly service at the Copthorne Hotel. Our room with deck overlooked gardens and tennis court, with afternoon sun. The ceiling fan helped to keep the room cool (no aircon but slats to one side of the ranchslider that could be tilted and left open without any security risk), and the bed was very comfortable. We had trouble getting the in-room safe to stay locked but maybe that was our fault! The shower in the bathroom is only curtained off and the floor of the bathroom got quite wet, but this was controllable by not having the water pressure too high! Dinner our first night came with complimentary champagne - a thoughtful touch from the Management (I'd casually mentioned it was our wedding anniversary when booking). The meals (we had two breakfasts and two dinners) were excellent though the a la carte dinner menu was a little limited. There is a buffet available, and an all-day dining menu as well. The hotel is set in lovely gardens overlooking the Bay and is a quiet and peaceful location. It's an easy 5 minute stroll through bush to Waitangi Museum and Treaty House. Paihia township and the ferry to Russell is a 5 minute drive away and Kerikeri is approx. 25 minutes' drive away, so it makes an ideal base for exploring the Bay of Islands. Would definitely stay there again, especially if package deals were available, like the one we had this visit, which was an exceptionally good deal.
Stayed 2 nights at this lovely Hotel. Beautiful position overlooking the Bay of Islands. Rooms were quite large, as we received a very nice upgrade being Millenium Members. Great balcony off the room which took in the pool and surrounding bay. Bed was very comfortable and we had all the amenities that we needed including a fridge. The Hotel is right next to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds so it is a short walk to this site which I would highly recommend. It is also a good 15 minute walk into Pahia but the Hotel also have a shuttle bus. Suggest you take the ferry across to Russell which is fabulous.
Boyfriend and I stayed for three nights. Were so impressed with location, facilities, ease of check-in and out, and how accomadating the staff were. Would absolutely reccomend. So happy we chose here as oppsed to somewhere in the center!
The view of the sea from the room was spectacular it makes up for a lot. Wifi a disappointment but hopefully high speed broadband will sort out the issue. Food seems to have become limited and choice and perhaps not to the high standard it has been in the past. Staff are lovely though.
